Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →For a single, modest prerecorded YouTube Live stream, an Intel N100 mini PC is a sensible low-power class to shortlist; compare an Intel Core i3-N305 system if you need more processing headroom. Intel’s cited board specification lists processor TDPs of 6 W for the N100 and 15 W for the i3-N305. Those are processor figures—not measurements of a complete mini PC at idle or while streaming—so they cannot tell you a system’s actual electricity use or prove it will run reliably around the clock.
If you want the stream to continue without leaving a computer on at home, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. For the computer-based do-it-yourself approach, the right choice depends on your encoder, video settings, network, and the exact PC’s performance over a sustained test.
Which low-power PC class should you choose?
Intel N100: a starting point for one modest stream
Start by comparing N100 mini PCs if the job is one prerecorded stream with settings your chosen encoder and system can handle. The 6 W figure in the Intel Marketplace-hosted board specification is the processor’s TDP, not whole-system power consumption or a guarantee about sustained encoding performance.
Intel Core i3-N305: compare when you need more headroom
An i3-N305 system is worth comparing if you expect more demanding encoding settings or simultaneous work. The same board specification lists a 15 W processor TDP. That higher processor figure does not establish how much more power a complete N305 mini PC will use, nor how it will perform in a particular case or encoder.

The available evidence supports comparing these processor classes, not naming a proven best mini PC model. No model-specific measurements of wall power, multi-day thermal stability, or continuous-run reliability are established here.
What to check before buying
Measure the whole system, not just the processor
TDP is not a wall-meter reading. RAM, storage, motherboard, cooling, power adapter, and the encode workload all affect a mini PC’s total consumption. Before estimating electricity costs, look for independent wall-meter measurements for the exact model under idle and actual streaming conditions. Do not calculate annual cost from the N100 or N305 TDP figures alone.
Match the PC and encoder to the stream
Decide the target codec, resolution, and frame rate first, then verify that both the selected PC and encoder support them. YouTube’s live encoder settings list H.264, HEVC, and AV1; frame rates up to 60 fps; constant bitrate (CBR); and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. Its bitrate guidance varies by codec, resolution, and frame rate. For example, the table lists 3–8 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps using AV1 or HEVC and recommends 10 Mbps for H.264 at that setting. Check YouTube’s current table when configuring your stream and choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain.

Check cooling, connectivity, and serviceability
A low processor TDP alone does not establish fan noise, temperatures, or behavior over a long run. Compare sustained thermals, cooling design, and independent long-duration results for the exact machine where available. Also check memory and storage configuration, whether components can be replaced, wired Ethernet availability, warranty, seller support, and current price. A fanless design may appeal if noise matters, but the evidence here does not establish that fanless mini PCs are the best choice for continuous streaming.

Prepare YouTube and your network
Confirm channel eligibility and bandwidth
- YouTube says live-streaming setup requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Check the channel before relying on it for a scheduled stream.
- Test upload speed and leave capacity for the primary stream, any backup stream, and 20% headroom, as YouTube recommends. This is platform guidance, not a universal independently measured threshold.
- Use a stable connection, preferably wired Ethernet where practical, and test the exact PC, encoder, video, and network together. Monitor YouTube’s stream health rather than assuming a speed test alone guarantees continuity.
Protect the stream key
YouTube’s encoder setup requires the Live server URL and stream key to be entered in the encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, share it, or include it in a screenshot. If it is exposed, replace or reset it through YouTube’s live control settings before sending another stream.
Set up a prerecorded stream with a PC
- Verify the channel and create the live stream in YouTube Studio. Confirm that the channel meets YouTube’s live-streaming requirements. In YouTube Studio, open the live control room, create or schedule the stream, and select the encoder workflow.
- Install and configure an encoder. Choose settings supported by the PC and encoder. In YouTube Studio, copy the server URL and stream key into the corresponding encoder fields. Keep the key private.
- Load the prerecorded video. Configure the encoder to send the file as a live program. If you want continuous playback, confirm that your encoder can loop the video or playlist; do not assume every encoder handles looping the same way.
- Set the output format and test. Select a supported codec, resolution, frame rate, CBR bitrate, and keyframe interval. Use YouTube’s current bitrate table for your chosen codec and output settings. Test before going live, then check YouTube’s stream-health indicators and watch for dropped frames or connection problems.
- Start sending content and verify playback. Start the encoder, confirm the YouTube preview and stream health, and check playback from a separate device if practical. Keep an eye on temperatures and encoder status during an extended test representative of your intended use.
- End or schedule sessions deliberately. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its setup guidance says to end a stream by stopping content from the encoder. The available guidance does not establish that one uninterrupted stream longer than 12 hours will produce a complete archive; use appropriately sized sessions and keep a local recording if the footage matters.
Common problems and what to check
- YouTube does not accept the stream: Verify channel eligibility, the selected server URL, and the stream key. If the key may have been exposed, replace it rather than continuing to use it.
- Stream health warns of connection problems: Check actual upload capacity, encoder bitrate, and connection stability. Reduce the bitrate or output demands if the connection cannot sustain them, and preserve YouTube’s recommended headroom for primary and backup streams plus 20%.
- The encoder struggles or the video stutters: Confirm codec support and that the chosen resolution and frame rate are suitable for the exact PC and encoder. Repeat a sustained test while checking encoder status and system temperatures; a processor TDP does not diagnose encoding performance or thermal throttling.
- The video stops instead of looping: Check the encoder’s file or playlist playback settings. Looping support and controls depend on the encoder, so confirm them before scheduling a long session.
- The live archive is missing or incomplete: Check the session duration and YouTube’s archive behavior. YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; preserve a separate local recording when a complete copy is important.

Copyright, reused content, and stream planning
Using prerecorded footage does not remove your responsibility to have the rights needed to stream it. Check that you are authorized to use every video, music track, image, and other material in the recording, and review YouTube’s applicable copyright rules before scheduling a stream. A continuous stream is not, by itself, evidence that material is original or eligible for monetization; consult YouTube’s current monetization policies if earning revenue is part of your plan.
Plan session length separately from playback. YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, but the available guidance does not establish a complete archive for a longer uninterrupted session. If preserving the recording matters, keep a local copy and test your archive workflow before depending on it.
How to make the final choice
For a computer-based setup, compare N100 mini PCs first for a single modest stream, then consider an N305-class system if the target settings or simultaneous tasks call for more headroom. Make the decision using measured power for the exact machine, encoder and codec support, sustained cooling behavior, network stability, serviceability, and warranty—not a processor TDP or a “24/7” product label. If you do not want a home computer to run continuously, compare the cloud and dedicated-encoder workflows on their actual requirements and costs before buying hardware.
