There is no single legal subscription that carries every NFL game. Most viewers need a combination: an antenna or live-TV service for local CBS, FOX and NBC broadcasts; NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube or YouTube TV for out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games; Prime Video for Thursday Night Football and the Black Friday game; and Peacock for Sunday Night Football when NBC is not available through a TV provider. ESPN/ABC, NFL Network and designated Netflix games require their respective network or service.
Your ZIP code, local station carriage and blackout rules determine what you can actually watch. Use the NFL’s official Ways to Watch guide and your team’s schedule for your location before paying for a package.
Why no one service carries every NFL game
NFL media rights are divided among broadcast networks, cable channels and streaming services. The Federal Communications Commission reported in 2026 that rights are held by Disney, Paramount, Fox, NBCUniversal, NFL Network, Amazon, Google and Netflix. The FCC also reported that 20 regular-season games and one playoff game are distributed exclusively on four streaming services. That fragmentation is why an apparently comprehensive subscription can still miss a particular game.
Local-market games are governed by your broadcast territory. A game shown on your local CBS, FOX or NBC affiliate is generally not available as an out-of-market stream in the same area. Sunday Ticket is designed for games outside your local market, not for bypassing local blackouts. Streaming-only and international games can also fall outside the Sunday Ticket package.

The practical answer is to build a setup around the games you actually watch rather than search for an impossible all-in-one plan.

Start with local games: antenna or live-TV streaming
Use an antenna when your team is carried by a nearby station
The FCC describes over-the-air broadcast television as free access, and the NFL’s viewing information lists CBS, FOX, NBC and ABC among its television outlets. An indoor HDTV antenna can therefore cover many local Sunday games without a recurring television subscription. It receives the signal from your local affiliate; it cannot reach games assigned to another market.
- Enter your ZIP code in a current local-channel reception tool or check the stations listed for your address by the NFL and local affiliates.
- Connect the antenna to the television’s coaxial input and place it near an exterior wall or window, as high as practical and away from large metal objects.
- Run the television’s “Auto Channel Scan” or “Channel Search” function. Menu names vary by television manufacturer.
- Test the channels during a live broadcast. If the picture breaks up, move the antenna, rescan and test again; indoor reception can change with building materials, terrain and distance.
An antenna is most useful for a fan who mainly watches a local team. It is also a valuable supplement to streaming because it supplies local games that Sunday Ticket may black out.

Choose a live-TV streaming bundle when you need several networks
A live-TV bundle can consolidate local CBS, FOX and NBC channels where the service carries your affiliates. The YouTube TV help information also lists ESPN and NFL Network among its coverage. This route is more flexible than an antenna in apartments or areas with poor reception, but it creates a recurring bill and still depends on your ZIP code.
Before subscribing, enter your service address rather than relying on a national channel list. Confirm each of these individually:

How NFL Sunday Ticket handles out-of-market Sunday afternoons
NFL support says, “To watch games outside your local market, you’ll need NFL Sunday Ticket (available on YouTube TV).” The Sunday Ticket help information describes out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games carried on CBS and FOX. You can buy it through YouTube or YouTube TV, subject to the current package and eligibility shown at checkout.
What Sunday Ticket is good for
- Following a team that is not broadcast in your local market.
- Watching multiple Sunday-afternoon games that are unavailable on your local stations.
- Adding out-of-market coverage to a local antenna or a live-TV bundle.
What it does not replace
- It does not turn a local-market blackout into an out-of-market game.
- It is not the Thursday Night Football package.
- It is not a guaranteed source for Sunday Night Football, Monday-night games, international games or every digital-only game.
- The YouTube help page says the Main or Sports plan with Sunday Ticket offers the most coverage except select digital-only and international games; “most coverage” is not the same as every game.
How to buy without duplicating coverage
- Check your team’s schedule and mark which Sunday-afternoon games are outside your local market.
- Use YouTube’s Sunday Ticket purchase flow or YouTube TV’s NFL section and enter your viewing ZIP code.
- Compare the standalone YouTube option with a YouTube TV plan. A YouTube TV plan may add local CBS, FOX and NBC plus ESPN and NFL Network, but it also adds a recurring live-TV subscription.
- Read the blackout and device terms before payment, then confirm that the games you expect are labeled as included.
Thursday Night Football and the Black Friday game
NFL support lists “Amazon Prime Video → Thursday Night Football and the Black Friday game.” The NFL’s 2026 viewing guide reports 15 Thursday Night Football games. These games are a separate streaming window: owning Sunday Ticket or an antenna does not provide Prime Video’s exclusive broadcasts.

Prime Video is therefore necessary for a viewer who wants the Thursday schedule as well as Sunday games. Check the current Prime Video membership terms and the game listing for your territory, because rights and availability can change.
Sunday Night Football on Peacock
Peacock’s official NFL information says, “If you don’t have access to NBC via your TV provider, you can stream Sunday Night Football on Peacock.” This makes Peacock a targeted solution for the Sunday-night window when NBC is not part of your antenna or live-TV setup.
Peacock does not replace local Sunday-afternoon stations, Sunday Ticket, Thursday Night Football or ESPN/ABC coverage. Treat it as one component of a larger setup and verify the current plan, supported device and game availability before subscribing.

Monday night, cable-network and designated streaming games
ESPN/ABC, CBS, FOX and NFL Network carry games assigned to their respective windows, with provider and blackout restrictions. If a game is listed on ESPN or ABC, you need access through a qualifying television provider or streaming bundle that carries those outlets. NFL Network games likewise require a plan or provider that includes the channel.

The FCC’s 2026 rights summary also identifies Netflix among the NFL’s rights holders. A game designated as a Netflix exclusive requires Netflix access for that event; neither an antenna nor Sunday Ticket can be assumed to include it. The same principle applies to any future digital-only game: check the game’s official listing rather than infer coverage from the team or opponent.
Build the right setup for your viewing goal
Lowest recurring cost for a local-team fan
Start with an indoor HDTV antenna if your local CBS, FOX and NBC signals are reliable. Add only the streaming service tied to an exclusive window you actually watch, such as Prime Video for Thursday nights or Peacock for Sunday nights without NBC. This avoids paying for out-of-market coverage you do not need.
Out-of-market fan who mainly watches one team
Use Sunday Ticket through YouTube or YouTube TV for that team’s Sunday-afternoon games. Keep an antenna or local channel service for games that move into your local market, and add Prime Video or Peacock only for the national windows you follow.
Fan who wants a broad national schedule
A YouTube TV plan with Sunday Ticket can combine local stations, ESPN and NFL Network with out-of-market Sunday afternoons, subject to the plan and your address. Add Prime Video for Thursday and Black Friday, Peacock where NBC access is missing, and Netflix for designated exclusives. This is broader than any single subscription but costs more and still does not guarantee every digital-only or international game.

Household that watches several sports
A live-TV bundle may be worthwhile because it supplies ESPN, local stations and entertainment channels in addition to football. Compare the recurring bill with the cost of buying targeted services separately. Do not assume that a sports-oriented tier automatically includes Sunday Ticket; verify that the package name explicitly includes it.
Prices, commitments and how to avoid surprise charges
Only NFL+ pricing is stated in the cited 2026 information: NFL support lists $6.99 monthly and $49.99 annually. NFL+ remains subject to broadcast rights and blackouts, so its low price does not make it an all-games replacement.
The cited official pages do not provide a stable all-in price for an antenna, YouTube TV, Sunday Ticket, Prime Video or Peacock. Promotions, seasonal discounts, taxes, add-ons and rights agreements can change. Before checkout, record the displayed price, billing interval, renewal date and cancellation terms for each service. A seasonal Sunday Ticket charge and monthly live-TV subscription should not be compared as though they were the same commitment.

Blackouts, missing channels and other common problems
Sunday Ticket shows a blackout message
That usually means the game is in your local market. Switch to the local CBS or FOX affiliate through an antenna or a service that carries it. Recheck the listing with your ZIP code; changing your account’s location improperly will not create lawful access.

Local-station agreements differ by market. Confirm the affiliate for your exact address in the provider’s lineup tool and compare it with the NFL schedule. If the affiliate is not carried, an antenna may be the simplest alternative where reception is adequate.

You expected a Thursday or Sunday-night game on Sunday Ticket
Sunday Ticket is centered on out-of-market Sunday-afternoon CBS and FOX games. Use Prime Video for Thursday Night Football and Black Friday, and Peacock or NBC access for Sunday Night Football when applicable.
NFL+ does not show the game you want
NFL+ availability is controlled by broadcast rights and blackouts. Check the game’s listed network or streaming service rather than treating NFL+ as a replacement for Sunday Ticket.
The antenna picture breaks up
Move the antenna closer to a window or higher position, keep it away from metal objects and run another channel scan. If reception remains unreliable, compare the cost of a live-TV bundle with the value of dependable local access.

Check the service’s current supported-device list, update the television or streaming device, sign in with the account that purchased the package and test the stream before kickoff. Device support and app requirements change independently of NFL rights.
A practical checklist before the season
- Write down your ZIP code and the team(s) you follow.
- Mark every game on the official team schedule by window: local Sunday afternoon, out-of-market Sunday afternoon, Thursday, Sunday night, Monday, cable network, international or digital exclusive.
- Confirm local CBS, FOX and NBC reception with an antenna or a provider lineup.
- Choose Sunday Ticket only if you need out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games.
- Add Prime Video for Thursday Night Football and Black Friday if those games matter to you.
- Add Peacock when you lack NBC access and want Sunday Night Football.
