Kitaria Fables 2 is not released yet, so there is no verified final PC preset or guaranteed 60 FPS hardware target. For the Steam demo and the eventual PC build, start at 1920×1080, cap at 60 FPS, lower shadows and post-processing before textures, and test in a busy two-player scene. Local co-op is designed for two players on one screen, with Alice Skylar and Dusty Tuftkin active together; player two can drop in or out while player one continues.

What is confirmed about Kitaria Fables 2

The game is planned for Spring 2027 according to its developer community page. The PlayStation product page still shows the release date as to be determined, so the launch window is not a universal platform commitment. A Steam demo is available, and its public depot record was updated in October 2026. The developer describes that demo as roughly 60% of the final release and about 10 hours long, but those figures describe the demo scope rather than a promise about final playtime.

Performance advice for PC must therefore be treated as provisional. The Steam listing marks PC system requirements as TBC, and the final graphics menu has not been published. No specific GPU, CPU, preset, or frame-rate guarantee can be stated responsibly yet.

  • Xbox lists local co-op for two players, online co-op for two players, and a 60 fps+ capability on Xbox Series X|S.
  • PlayStation describes local or online co-op through the full story, adjustable difficulty, pausing, and basic control remapping.
  • The official Steam announcement describes a flexible two-player design in which player two may drop in or out while player one continues the adventure.
  • The two heroes are Alice Skylar and Dusty Tuftkin. In co-op, both are controlled at the same time.
  • SteamDB records the demo as supporting shared or split-screen co-op, Steam Remote Play Together, and full controller support.

Those platform statements are the reliable baseline. The PC settings below are a sensible tuning sequence, not measured results from a final build.

Best provisional PC settings for a stable 60 FPS

Use the following order whenever the demo or final PC version exposes the corresponding controls. Change one setting at a time and test the same scene after each change; otherwise you will not know which adjustment fixed or caused a problem.

  1. Choose 1920×1080 output first. Begin at 1920×1080 in the display menu. If frame pacing is unstable, reduce render scale or output resolution before lowering texture quality. Resolution changes reduce the number of pixels the GPU must draw every frame, while textures usually consume video memory without being the main cause of GPU time spikes.
  2. Set a 60 FPS cap. If the game provides an in-game frame limiter, set it to 60 FPS. A stable cap is generally preferable to an uncapped rate that repeatedly jumps between high and low values, especially when two characters, combat effects, crops, and NPCs are visible together.
  3. Reduce shadows. Set shadow quality to medium or low if available. Dynamic shadows can be expensive in areas with many characters and objects, and they are usually less noticeable than a major resolution drop.
  4. Lower post-processing. Reduce post-processing next. Effects such as screen-space filters, bloom, depth-of-field, or motion blur can add GPU work and may make a small frame-time spike feel worse. Disable motion blur if it makes movement look smeared; this is a clarity choice rather than a guaranteed performance fix.
  5. Reduce effects quality for combat dips. If performance falls when both heroes attack or several effects overlap, lower the effects setting after shadows and post-processing. Keep an eye on whether the problem occurs only during visual bursts or persists in ordinary exploration.
  6. Keep textures at medium or high when video memory allows. Texture quality generally affects VRAM usage more than frame time. Lower it only when you see texture pop-in, hitching while entering new areas, or a warning that video memory is exhausted. If the setting offers a memory indicator, leave headroom rather than filling the entire budget.
  7. Compare VSync and the frame cap. If tearing is distracting, enable VSync and check whether frame pacing remains even. If input latency matters more and tearing is acceptable, compare a 60 FPS cap with VSync disabled. Keep whichever combination delivers consistent frame times on your display.
  8. Retest with both players present. Do not validate a solo farming route and assume co-op will behave identically. Run through a busy area with both heroes, combat effects, crops, and several NPCs, then compare the result with your solo baseline.

Why resolution comes before textures

Resolution and render scale directly determine how many pixels are shaded. Textures primarily determine how much data must remain in VRAM. A system can therefore be short of GPU rendering time while still having plenty of memory, or run out of memory while the average frame rate looks acceptable. Starting with resolution lets you identify a rendering-load problem without unnecessarily making the world blurry.

Why a cap can feel smoother than a higher average

An uncapped game may report a high average while alternating between fast and slow frames. In a two-player scene, the slower frames are more noticeable because the camera, effects, and both characters update together. A 60 FPS cap gives the renderer a repeatable target. It cannot make hardware capable of 60 FPS, but it can prevent needless oscillation when the system is already near that level.

How to run a repeatable test

Choose one route that includes the busiest conditions you normally encounter: enter an NPC-heavy area, move past crops, trigger a fight, and repeat the same actions with both players connected. Record the displayed FPS or frame-time value at the same points. Apply one change, repeat the route, and keep the change only if the slowest moments improve without an unacceptable loss in image quality.

Diagnosing stutter and uneven frame pacing

“Stutter” can mean several different problems. Use the symptom rather than the label to choose your next step.

What you see Likely pressure Next action
FPS falls mainly during attacks or large visual bursts GPU effects, shadows, or post-processing Lower shadows, post-processing, then effects quality. Keep textures unchanged initially.
Short freezes when entering a new area or loading characters Asset streaming or video-memory pressure Lower textures one step, close other GPU-heavy applications, and leave VRAM headroom if the menu reports usage.
The counter is high but motion feels uneven Inconsistent frame times or an uncapped rate Try a 60 FPS cap. Compare VSync on and off, and judge the result by frame-time consistency rather than the peak number.
Solo play is smooth but co-op dips Additional character simulation and effects Repeat the test with both heroes present; lower shadows and effects before reducing resolution.
The picture tears while the frame rate is otherwise stable Display synchronization mismatch Enable VSync and retest. If latency becomes objectionable, return to a capped, unsynchronized configuration.
Controls feel delayed when using Remote Play Together Streaming and network latency rather than local rendering Test with two controllers connected directly to the same machine before changing graphics settings.

Separate rendering problems from connection problems

Steam Remote Play Together streams the host computer to another player. A delayed input or a briefly frozen image in that mode does not prove that the game is rendering slowly. First test two controllers locally, then compare the same route through Remote Play Together. If local play is responsive but the streamed session is not, investigate the connection and host load rather than lowering every graphics option.

When lowering settings does not help

If reducing shadows, post-processing, effects, and resolution produces no measurable improvement, the limit may not be the GPU. The demo could be waiting on CPU simulation, asset streaming, or a software issue that cannot be solved by a graphics preset. Capture the exact location, player count, action being performed, and settings used so a future update can be compared against the same conditions. Because final PC requirements and controls are still unpublished, do not infer a permanent hardware requirement from one demo build.

Local co-op: what the mode actually supports

Kitaria Fables 2 is built around two simultaneous heroes rather than a solo campaign with a separate multiplayer arena. Alice Skylar and Dusty Tuftkin appear together in co-op, and the official descriptions present local play as a shared-screen experience. Expect both players to occupy the same view rather than each receiving an independent split-screen camera. The precise camera behavior can still change before release.

Starting local co-op on one console or PC

  1. Connect two compatible controllers before launching or before entering the co-op menu.
  2. Start the game and choose the local co-op option when it is presented.
  3. Assign the first controller to player one and follow the prompt for the second controller to join.
  4. Confirm that both heroes are visible and responding before beginning a demanding activity such as combat or farming.
  5. If the game does not detect the second player, return to the controller assignment screen, reconnect that controller, and try the join prompt again rather than changing graphics settings.

The demo is recorded as having full controller support. The available platform descriptions do not establish a specific keyboard-and-controller combination, so treat mixed-input support as something to verify in the build you are using.

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft

Drop-in and drop-out co-op

The developer announcement explicitly supports player two dropping in or out while player one continues the adventure. That means a second person should not need to restart the entire story whenever they join or leave. The exact save, inventory, and progression rules for a player who leaves are not specified in the published descriptions, so check the in-game prompt before confirming a departure during an important activity.

Remote Play Together is not the same as local hardware

SteamDB lists Remote Play Together for the demo. It lets one person host while another sends input through Steam’s streaming system, but it is not equivalent to two controllers plugged into the same machine. Image quality, input delay, and responsiveness depend on the host computer and network path. Use direct local controllers when you need the cleanest performance comparison; use Remote Play Together when convenience matters more than eliminating streaming latency.

Platform Frame-rate information Two-player modes Controls and accessibility Graphics tuning
Xbox Series X|S Store listing states a 60 fps+ capability; this is a platform capability statement, not a guarantee for every scene. Local co-op 2–2 and online co-op 2–2 are listed. Specific remapping details are not stated in the cited listing. Console graphics controls are not published.
PlayStation No equivalent numeric capability is stated on the cited product page. Local and online co-op are described through the full story. Adjustable difficulty, pausing, and basic control remapping are described. The cited page does not publish a graphics-options list.
PC (Steam) No final target is published; system requirements are TBC. The demo supports shared or split-screen co-op and Remote Play Together; the final feature set should be checked at launch. Full controller support is recorded for the demo. PC offers the greatest potential for resolution, cap, shadow, effects, texture, and VSync adjustments, but the final controls are not yet confirmed.

Which platform fits a 60 FPS priority?

If you want the strongest published indication of a 60 FPS-capable platform, Xbox Series X|S is currently the clearest choice because its store listing explicitly says “60 fps+.” That wording does not identify a universal mode, resolution, or performance level in every co-op scene. PC is the better choice for experimentation with resolution and quality settings, but its hardware targets remain unknown. PlayStation is the clearest choice among the cited descriptions for built-in difficulty, pause, and basic remapping information, while still confirming both local and online co-op.

What to verify when the final PC version launches

Before treating any preset as definitive, check the release build for four items that are currently missing or unsettled:

  • The official minimum and recommended CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage requirements.
  • Whether the graphics menu includes an in-game frame limiter, render scale, VSync, shadow, post-processing, effects, and texture controls.
  • Whether the final local co-op camera remains shared-screen and whether player two can still join or leave without interrupting player one.
  • Whether the 60 FPS target applies equally to solo play and busy two-player scenes.

Until those details are published, use the demo as a compatibility check rather than a final benchmark. A machine that handles the roughly 10-hour, approximately 60%-complete demo comfortably may still need adjustment when the remaining content, effects, and optimization changes arrive.

Practical setup checklist

  • Update the game to the current build and note whether you are using the demo or release version.
  • Set 1920×1080, then establish a 60 FPS cap if available.
  • Test solo and with both controllers connected.
  • Use a repeatable route containing NPCs, crops, and combat effects.
  • Lower shadows, post-processing, and effects before textures.
  • Use VSync only after comparing tearing, latency, and frame-time consistency.
  • For Remote Play Together, separate streaming latency from local rendering performance.
  • Do not claim a guaranteed GPU target until the developer publishes final PC requirements.
