For the smoothest Star Wars Zero Company performance, begin with the Low or High target that matches your hardware, then change one graphics control at a time. On GTX 10-series or RTX 20-series cards at the minimum specification, set Options > Graphics > Environment Geometry Detail > Off first; Electronic Arts specifically identifies that switch as a way to reduce geometry-processing overhead and stabilize frame rates. Intel Arc users should enable Resizable BAR. If you still see stutter, crashes, or frame-time spikes, update the game and driver, close background applications, clear the cache where appropriate, and repair or verify the game files before sacrificing more image quality.
Use the correct performance target for your PC
Electronic Arts publishes two PC targets for Star Wars Zero Company. They describe the hardware and output the game is designed to support, not a guaranteed benchmark result for every scene, map, or background process. A system that only meets the minimum can still show uneven frame pacing when several effects or units are visible at once.
| EA target | Resolution and frame rate | Preset | Processor | Graphics hardware | Memory | API and storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 1920×1080 at 30 FPS | Low | AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i5-8400 | Radeon RX 5600 XT, Intel Arc B580, or GeForce GTX 1080 | 16 GB | DirectX 12 and 50 GB |
| Recommended | 2560×1440 at 60 FPS | High | AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-10700K | Radeon RX 7800 XT or GeForce RTX 3080 | 32 GB | DirectX 12 and 50 GB |
Use the minimum row as your starting point if your processor, graphics card, or memory is close to the lower specification. Use the recommended row as the starting point when your system is in that class. The published rows do not establish what a particular slider will add or remove from your frame rate, so treat them as starting profiles rather than promises.
Update the game and prepare Windows before tuning
Do not compare presets on an old build. Electronic Arts’ version 1.1 notes, dated September 9, 2026, list crash and visual-stutter fixes and updated minimum suggested NVIDIA and AMD drivers. Version 1.2, dated October 15, 2026, adds further performance fixes. Install the current game update and the latest driver recommended for your GPU before deciding that a setting is responsible for a problem.

Follow EA’s support order
- Confirm the hardware. Compare your CPU, GPU, RAM, DirectX 12 support, and free storage with the table above. EA cautions that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee that every graphics setting will run smoothly.
- Close background applications. Shut down browsers with many tabs, recording or overlay tools you do not need, launchers, and other programs that compete for CPU time, memory, or disk access.
- Repair or verify the game files. Use the repair or verify command provided by your game launcher. Corrupt or incomplete files can cause stutter and crashes that graphics changes cannot fix.
- Update the graphics driver. Install the current driver for your NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel GPU, then restart Windows so the new driver is actually loaded.
- Open the in-game controls. From the main menu, choose Options > Graphics. Work through the Display, Anti-aliasing & Upscaling, and Quality groups in that order.
If the game is unstable before a match or mission even begins, complete these maintenance steps first. Lowering quality on a damaged installation can hide the symptom temporarily while leaving the cause untouched.
Recommended starting profiles
Hardware near the minimum target
Select the Low preset and the minimum target’s display resolution. This gives the renderer the largest margin for scenes that are heavier than average. In the three graphics groups, reduce Display, Anti-aliasing & Upscaling, and Quality controls before experimenting with individual visual options. Make one change, load the same type of scene, and observe whether the hitching or low frame rate changes.
Hardware near the recommended target
Begin with the High preset and the recommended target’s resolution. If movement feels smooth, keep that profile; there is no benefit in lowering every option pre-emptively. If frame pacing is inconsistent, lower the named graphics groups one step at a time rather than jumping straight to Low. This preserves the image quality your hardware was designed to deliver while giving you a clear indication of which adjustment matters.

Systems between the two targets
Choose the lower target as a safe baseline, then raise quality gradually. A mixed profile is often more useful than changing the entire preset: keep the display output you can sustain, and reduce only the group that corresponds to the symptom. Because EA does not publish per-setting FPS measurements, record your own result instead of assuming that a particular slider has a fixed cost.
Which setting should you lower first?
The best first change depends on the hardware generation and the symptom. Use this order so that you do not trade away image quality unnecessarily.
1. Environment Geometry Detail on older NVIDIA cards
On a GTX 10-series or RTX 20-series card that meets the minimum specification, go to Options > Graphics > Environment Geometry Detail and choose Off. In the September 9, 2026 version 1.1 notes, EA explains that these architectures can encounter extra rendering overhead when processing complex environmental detail. Disabling the option lowers geometry-processing overhead and can stabilize and improve frame rates on those configurations. This is the only individual setting for which the supplied official notes document a specific architecture-focused optimization.

2. Display controls when the GPU is saturated
If the image is sharp but the frame rate remains low, reduce the output resolution or another control in the Display group before cutting every quality option. Fewer pixels give the GPU less work each frame. Use the smallest reduction that removes the problem; a large drop can make text and interface elements noticeably softer.

3. Anti-aliasing & Upscaling when edges or reconstruction are expensive
Open the Anti-aliasing & Upscaling group and step down its quality or reconstruction setting if the game remains GPU-limited after the Display adjustment. Check a scene with fine geometry and moving units after each change. The visual result can differ substantially between modes, so keep the first option that looks acceptable rather than automatically selecting the lowest value.
4. Quality controls for broad image-quality trade-offs
Use the Quality group when you need a wider reduction after the targeted changes above. Lower one control at a time, test the same type of scene, and stop when frame pacing is consistent. EA does not publish a table of FPS gains for individual Quality options; any number you see on an overlay is specific to your PC, driver, resolution, and scene.

Intel Arc: enable Resizable BAR
EA’s support guidance identifies Resizable BAR as a way to improve FPS performance on Intel Arc graphics. Enable it in your motherboard firmware and confirm that your platform supports it before launching the game. The exact firmware wording varies by motherboard, so consult the board manufacturer’s documentation for the location of the Resizable BAR or Smart Access Memory-style option. If the toggle is unavailable, update the motherboard firmware and chipset software only when the manufacturer lists a compatible release; do not assume that a missing option can be fixed from the game menu.
A decision tree for low FPS, stutter, and crashes
If average FPS is low all the time
- Check whether the system is in the minimum or recommended hardware class.
- Use the matching baseline profile from the table.
- Apply the older-NVIDIA Environment Geometry Detail change when applicable.
- Lower Display, then Anti-aliasing & Upscaling, then Quality, testing after each step.
- If the lowest practical profile is still below your desired target, the hardware is the limiting factor; settings can reduce workload but cannot make a below-target system behave like the recommended tier.
If FPS looks adequate but motion hitches
- Install version 1.2 or a later available update and the current GPU driver.
- Close background programs and overlays that may interrupt the game.
- Repair or verify the installation, then restart the PC.
- On a qualifying GTX 10-series or RTX 20-series card, turn Environment Geometry Detail off.
- Reduce one setting in Display, Anti-aliasing & Upscaling, or Quality and retest the same scene. A frame-time spike can remain even when the reported average FPS looks acceptable, so judge the consistency of motion as well as the headline number.
If the game crashes
- Update the game and graphics driver first; version 1.1 included crash fixes and version 1.2 included additional performance fixes.
- Close background applications and remove unnecessary overlays.
- Repair or verify the files through the launcher.
- Return to the Low baseline while diagnosing, then raise settings only after the game is stable.
- If crashes continue at the baseline, record when they occur and contact the game’s support channel. A graphics preset cannot correct an operating-system, driver, hardware, or installation fault.
How to tune without losing track of the cause
Change one variable per test. Start from a known preset, alter a single control, and replay a comparable section with the same resolution and display mode. Write down the setting, the scene, and whether the symptom was low average FPS, a hitch, or a crash. This simple log prevents a common mistake: changing five options at once and then being unable to tell which one helped.
Test after the game has finished loading the same area. A brief pause during initial loading is different from repeated spikes while moving through an already loaded scene. Run several passes rather than trusting one unusually quiet moment. If a change improves one scene but harms another, choose the profile that matches the way you normally play and note the trade-off.

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Do not compare results made on different game versions. The 1.1 and 1.2 updates changed stability and performance behavior, so a preset that felt poor before updating may behave differently afterward.
What the official targets do—and do not—tell you
The minimum and recommended rows establish a useful boundary for planning, but they are not a promise that every combination of settings will hold its stated frame rate. EA explicitly notes that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee smooth operation at every graphics setting. Background software, driver state, thermal limits, memory pressure, and the complexity of a particular scene can all change frame pacing.
Likewise, there is no official per-setting benchmark in the published material used here. It is accurate to say that Environment Geometry Detail can help the specified older NVIDIA architectures, and that lowering the Display, Anti-aliasing & Upscaling, and Quality groups follows EA’s support guidance. It is not accurate to promise a fixed percentage improvement from any of those changes.
