The smoothest way to play Wavy Road: Endless Driving is to prioritize a steady frame rate over the highest number your iPhone can briefly display. Start with the highest frame-rate target the phone can hold consistently; if motion still hitches, reduce the heaviest graphics option available, then retest the same section. Keep the display refresh rate close to the game’s actual target, moderate brightness, and stop for a cool-down if the phone becomes hot. A constant 30 frames per second can look smoother than a frame rate that repeatedly jumps between 30 and 60.
Those are device-level recommendations, not a confirmed Wavy Road preset. No published information currently documents a Wavy Road graphics menu, frame-rate selector, resolution control, or battery-saver toggle. The exact controls should be checked in the released build.
What is known about Wavy Road before launch
Wavy Road: Endless Driving is listed as an iPhone-only arcade game from Simon B. Støvring. The App Store listing requires iOS 18.0 or later and gives an expected release date of October 21, 2026. As of October 19, 2026, that date is still in the future, so settings and performance can change before the public build appears.

Neither the listing nor the available launch coverage confirms a Wavy Road-specific graphics or battery-settings screen. Do not assume that a menu shown in another game exists here. How to find and configure any in-game options
Use these steps after the released build is available. They deliberately avoid treating an undocumented control as guaranteed.
- Open Wavy Road and enter a run or the main menu. Check for a gear icon, “Settings,” “Options,” or a pause-menu control.
- Look for labels such as “Graphics,” “Quality,” “Effects,” “Shadows,” “Resolution,” “Performance,” or “Frame rate.” If none appears, the game is probably using a fixed configuration that must be managed at the iPhone level.
- If a frame-rate choice exists, begin with the highest value. Play through a demanding, obstacle-heavy part of a run rather than judging the menu animation.
- If motion is uneven, return to the same menu and lower one visual workload option. Reduce effects, shadows, or resolution before changing several settings at once so you know which change helped.
- Apply the change, replay the same type of section, and compare steadiness, touch response, temperature, and battery percentage. Keep the lower setting if it removes recurring hitching.
- After changing a frame-rate or graphics option, restart the run if the game asks you to. Some engines do not apply rendering changes until a scene reloads.
If the release build has no graphics controls, that is not a fault you can fix with a hidden code. Use the frame-pacing, refresh-rate, brightness, and heat guidance below, and check for updates because developers can add options later.
Choose a frame-rate target for stable motion
Why a steady lower rate can feel better
Human perception notices irregular intervals between frames as judder. A game that alternates unpredictably between 30 and 60 frames per second can therefore feel less fluid than one that delivers a constant 30. First Touch Games summarizes the principle this way: gameplay may appear smoother at a constant 30 frames per second than at a variable 30–60 FPS.
For Wavy Road, that matters because the road bends continuously and obstacles arrive while the vehicle is moving. Consistent timing makes a left or right drag easier to judge. Nominal FPS is less important than whether the phone can sustain the target during the busiest parts of a run.
A practical target hierarchy
- Stable 60 FPS: Use it when the phone maintains it through effects, turns, and obstacle clusters without becoming uncomfortably hot.
- Stable 30 FPS: Choose this when 60 repeatedly dips, causes visible judder, or creates excessive heat. A locked lower target is preferable to a fluctuating high range.
- Uncertain or automatic mode: Test it for several minutes. If you can see repeated speed changes or input timing that feels inconsistent, select the lower fixed option if the game provides one.
Do not select a target based only on the iPhone’s screen specification. The game engine, scene complexity, temperature, and battery state determine whether that target is sustainable.

Lower graphics workload in the right order
When a game offers several visual controls, reduce the settings that require the most rendering work first. SEGA Support’s general troubleshooting advice is to lower graphics settings because lower settings are less demanding and run more smoothly across devices. Apply that principle without assuming that Wavy Road uses the same labels.

1. Effects and particles
Effects can create short spikes when coins, collisions, or environmental animations appear together. If an “Effects,” “Particles,” or similarly named control exists, lower it one step and repeat the same section.
2. Shadows and lighting
Dynamic shadows and advanced lighting can require additional rendering passes. Reduce “Shadows,” “Lighting,” or “Post-processing” before sacrificing the entire image quality, if those controls are available.
3. Resolution or render scale
Resolution changes affect the number of pixels drawn every frame. Lower it only as far as needed to remove sustained stutter, because a lower render scale makes road edges, obstacles, and small visual cues less crisp.
4. Overall quality preset
If the game provides only “Low,” “Medium,” and “High,” move down one preset and retest. Avoid jumping directly to the lowest option unless the phone remains unstable; a single-step reduction often preserves more clarity.

Match the display refresh rate to the game
A display that refreshes faster than the game’s frame-rate target cannot create additional game frames. Android Developers notes that when display refresh is higher than the game target, there is no benefit from the extra refresh rate, only increased power consumption. iOS handles refresh behavior differently by device and by app, so treat this as a power-management principle rather than a promise of a particular iPhone menu.
- If Wavy Road exposes a refresh or performance choice, select the mode closest to the frame-rate target you can sustain.
- If the iPhone provides a system-level refresh option, compare the higher and lower modes during the same repeatable run instead of assuming 120 Hz is always better.
- Do not lower refresh rate when it makes touch or animation feel less responsive and the phone is already cool and stable; the purpose is to avoid unused refresh overhead, not to reduce responsiveness at any cost.
The game’s actual refresh behavior is not documented before launch. A ProMotion-capable iPhone may adapt refresh dynamically, and an individual game may not expose a per-app override.
Keep battery drain and heat under control
Why heat causes both problems
High CPU and GPU utilization produces heat. Android Developers explains that thermal throttling can reduce performance while increasing battery drain. In a driving game, this can create a cycle: a demanding frame-rate target heats the phone, throttling lowers performance, and the device continues working inefficiently while the player sees more stutter.
Before starting a long session
- Remove a thick case temporarily if it traps heat around the back of the phone.
- Begin with a reasonably charged battery and avoid charging under blankets or in other places where heat cannot escape.
- Close an intensive app or video stream that is competing for CPU, GPU, or network resources. Do not expect this to compensate for a frame-rate target the phone cannot sustain.
- Set brightness to the lowest level at which obstacles and the road remain easy to read.
During play
- Watch for a phone that becomes noticeably hot, rapid battery loss, or a sudden change from smooth motion to repeated hitching.
- When those symptoms appear together, lower the frame-rate target first, then reduce graphics workload if necessary.
- Pause and let the phone cool before testing again. Continuing through thermal throttling can make the next comparison misleading because the device is no longer in the same condition.
Low Power Mode
No published information confirms a Wavy Road-specific battery-saver or low-power setting. iOS itself includes Low Power Mode, but its exact effect on this game is not established. If you try it, compare Low Power Mode on and off during equivalent runs and record whether frame pacing, touch response, temperature, and battery drain improve. Keep it enabled only if the battery benefit outweighs any change in responsiveness or display behavior.
A repeatable way to judge smoothness
Use a simple comparison rather than relying on the first few seconds of a run.
- Restart the game or begin a fresh run so each test starts from a similar state.
- Use the same iPhone, display mode, brightness, case, and charging state for every comparison.
- Play for long enough to reach a busy section with bends, obstacles, and collection effects. If the game supplies an FPS readout, note the lowest sustained behavior; otherwise judge recurring hitching by eye and touch timing.
- Record four observations: whether motion stays consistent, whether controls respond predictably, how hot the phone feels, and how much battery percentage changes.
- Change one setting, replay a comparable section, and keep the change only when it improves stability without an unacceptable loss of clarity or battery life.
This method prevents a cool opening menu from making a demanding preset look better than it performs after several minutes.

Compare presets by the results that matter
If the release includes multiple presets, evaluate them on the same run. There is no universal best preset until actual Wavy Road settings and device behavior are documented.

Use “not stated” for any control or performance value the game does not show. Do not infer a preset’s frame rate from the phone’s maximum refresh specification.

The game stutters from the first run
Lower the frame-rate target if possible. If no target exists, reduce the heaviest available graphics option, beginning with effects, shadows, or resolution. Retest before changing anything else.
It starts smooth and worsens after several minutes
Suspect heat-related throttling. Reduce the target, lower rendering workload, dim the display, remove a heat-trapping case, and pause until the phone cools. A configuration that is smooth for one minute but unstable later is not a stable setting.
Motion is smooth but the battery falls quickly
Check whether the display refresh is higher than the game’s target. Use a closer refresh mode if available, reduce brightness, and test a lower fixed frame-rate target. Compare battery change over equivalent runs rather than estimating from a single session.

Raise the frame-rate target one step while keeping the reduced graphics workload, then retest. If the game offers separate quality and frame-rate controls, preserve the target that gives reliable touch timing and reduce visual detail instead.

The phone becomes hot while charging
Stop the run and let the device cool. Avoid using a demanding frame-rate target while charging in a poorly ventilated place. Resume only when temperature is normal and repeat the test under comparable conditions.
No graphics or battery options appear
That is consistent with the currently available documentation. Use iPhone-level brightness, refresh, and power controls, and check the game’s notes after launch for any newly added menu. Do not install unofficial configuration profiles or modify the device to force an undocumented setting.
Should you use a phone cooler?
A compatible iPhone phone cooler is a possible accessory for players who experience heat during long sessions, because reducing sustained temperature can help avoid thermal throttling. It is not a substitute for a stable frame-rate target or lighter rendering workload, and no specific cooler or retailer has been verified for Wavy Road. If you consider one, confirm that it fits the iPhone model, does not obstruct the controls or camera area, and does not require unsafe charging arrangements.

Begin with the highest target and quality preset, then test sustained performance rather than assuming the hardware will hold it indefinitely. If the display refresh exceeds the game target, use the closest practical mode to avoid spending power on unused refreshes.
What to verify after the October 21, 2026 release
- Whether the shipped game includes a graphics, frame-rate, resolution, or battery menu.
- Which frame-rate choices are actually offered and whether they are fixed or adaptive.
- Whether display refresh changes are available per game or only at the iPhone level.
- How long a selected preset remains stable on your specific iPhone before heat changes performance.
- Whether Low Power Mode changes touch response, frame pacing, or visual quality in the released build.
Until those details are documented, the defensible recommendation is simple: favor consistent frame pacing, lower rendering demand when stutter appears, avoid unnecessary display refresh, and manage heat before it turns into throttling.
