If you want to keep playing something closest to Gears of War: E-Day, start with Gears of War: Reloaded: it stays in the same franchise and Xbox identifies it as a third-person cover shooter with split-screen and online campaign co-op. If you mainly want a cooperative science-fiction campaign and are open to a different series and style, consider Halo: Campaign Evolved.
This is a comparison of the games’ official descriptions and listed features, not a hands-on ranking. Xbox lists E-Day for October 6, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with launch inclusion in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass; check the current Xbox listing for changes.

Which game is the closest follow-up to Gears of War: E-Day?
Gears of War: Reloaded is the clearest choice if you want franchise continuity and the same broad combat format. Xbox describes it as a remaster of the original Gears of War and gives it the product label “3rd Person Cover-Shooter.” Its campaign supports split-screen or online co-op.
That makes it a strong match by series and listed genre, but the official details do not establish that its mechanics are identical to E-Day. The comparison is about the documented franchise connection, cover-shooter format, and co-op options.

What if you want co-op science-fiction action from another series?
Halo: Campaign Evolved is the alternative for players who care more about playing a science-fiction campaign cooperatively than preserving Gears’ third-person cover-shooter format. Xbox describes it as a faithful, modernized remake of the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign.
