For a sequence of local cartoon files, use FFmpeg’s concat demuxer with a formal ffconcat list, then apply -stream_loop -1 to loop that input indefinitely. The list controls which files play and in what order; it does not choose YouTube’s delivery protocol. For a basic setup, decide separately whether to send the encoded stream through RTMP or, where your codec or HDR needs call for it, YouTube HLS.
Build a local playlist with the ffconcat format
Create a plain-text file named cartoons.ffconcat. Its first line must be exactly ffconcat version 1.0, followed by one file directive for each video, in playback order:

file 'cartoon-episode-02.mp4'
file 'cartoon-episode-03.mp4'Place the playlist and its video files together and use relative filenames as above. FFmpeg’s concat demuxer enables its safe option by default; it rejects unsafe paths and directives and expects relative paths using a portable character set. The FFmpeg documentation also shows absolute filenames separately, but do not disable safety for a playlist you do not trust. See the FFmpeg concat demuxer documentation.
Loop the list indefinitely
Use the playlist as an input with -stream_loop -1:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -i cartoons.ffconcat ...This is an input fragment, not a complete, validated YouTube command. The ellipsis represents output settings that must be chosen for your files, FFmpeg build, and YouTube stream configuration. FFmpeg defines -stream_loop -1 as infinite input looping; it does not restart FFmpeg after a crash, repair an internet connection, or guarantee that YouTube will keep the broadcast open. Check your files before relying on a continuous sequence
The concat demuxer is a reasonable first choice for a straightforward sequence, but the files should have compatible streams, time bases, codecs, and parameters. Compatibility has to be checked against your cartoon library; the list syntax alone does not guarantee seamless transitions between dissimilar files. If the inputs are incompatible, investigate or normalize them before depending on a long-running broadcast.
The playlist only names inputs. It does not set video and audio mapping, encoding, resolution, frame rate, keyframe cadence, or YouTube’s RTMP endpoint. Those choices depend on the source media and the intended YouTube stream, so the input fragment above should not be copied as a ready-to-publish command.

Do not confuse ffconcat with YouTube HLS
ffconcat is a local file-list format. HLS is a network delivery format involving media segments and a playlist. FFmpeg’s HLS muxer creates an HLS playlist and segment files; an .m3u8 extension by itself does not make a local list of cartoons equivalent to an FFmpeg concat-demuxer list or prove that a YouTube live feed meets HLS requirements. When YouTube HLS may make sense
YouTube positions HLS ingestion for HDR or codecs that RTMP does not support. It also has higher latency than RTMP because it sends video in segments rather than continuously. For YouTube HLS ingestion, YouTube specifies TS segments between 1 and 4 seconds, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, HTTPS POST/PUT, and no byte ranges. Listed video codecs are H.264 and HEVC; listed audio codecs are AAC, AC3, and EAC3. Consult YouTube’s HLS ingestion requirements and verify that your generated output satisfies them. A generic VOD HLS setup is not evidence of live-ingestion compliance.

Choosing between RTMP and HLS
- For an ordinary local cartoon playlist, treat the playlist and ingest protocol as separate decisions; choose and validate the protocol for your encoder and stream.
- Consider HLS when HDR or a codec unsupported by RTMP is important and you can meet YouTube’s segment and playlist constraints.
- Consider the higher HLS latency and added segment-management complexity against your needs. YouTube describes HLS as higher-latency than RTMP.
