Looping and vertical delivery are separate requirements. A service can schedule prerecorded content without repeating it; a vertical layout can change how a live feed appears without providing the feed or keeping it running. Confirm both capabilities—and whether playback can continue for as long as you need—before choosing a service.
What counts as a vertical YouTube Live stream?
YouTube supports horizontal 16:9 and vertical 9:16 live formats. It says viewers may discover vertical live streams while browsing Shorts on the YouTube mobile app. Vertical output is not simply a label: the video must be composed for portrait viewing, or its landscape source must be cropped or arranged into a portrait layout.
In Live Control Room, YouTube describes a default center crop and offers vertical layout choices including center crop, fit to phone width, and stacked. You can adjust zoom and position. The vertical layout cannot be added after a stream has started, so decide the format and check the preview before going live. YouTube also notes feature differences by viewing format: clickable links in chat and the channel description, and live pre-roll and mid-roll ads, are listed for horizontal rather than vertical viewing. Restream Upload & Stream: scheduled playback with a replay cap
Restream’s Upload & Stream supports uploading a single video or playlist, scheduling it as a prerecorded live event, and replaying a scheduled video up to 10 times. That is the strongest documented repeat-playback option among the other services in this comparison, but the limit is not evidence of an indefinite loop. Its reviewed page does not establish continuous playback beyond those replays or spell out all plan and file restrictions, so check the current service terms if either matters.
For vertical delivery, Restream says a stream must be 9:16 to appear in the Shorts feed. StreamYard: scheduled prerecorded events, with no documented loop here
StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream guidance says a broadcast begins automatically at its scheduled time and ends when the video finishes. It lists MP4/H.264 uploads, a maximum upload bitrate of 10 Mbps, up to 1080p on paid plans, and plan-dependent file-size and video-duration limits. The page lists 2-, 4-, or 8-hour video limits by plan and scheduling as far as 365 days ahead; these are vendor-documented limits that may change. The reviewed documentation does not say that a finished video repeats. Check the current StreamYard prerecorded-stream guidance for the plan limits that apply to your account.
StreamYard’s Multi-Aspect Ratio Streaming (MARS) guidance says YouTube landscape plus portrait creates two separate posts and counts as two destinations; that dual-format YouTube option is available on paid plans. YouTube Live Control Room: native vertical formatting, not a documented replay service
YouTube’s native controls are useful for setting up vertical output and choosing how a landscape feed is adapted. They do not, in the reviewed guidance, establish a cloud-hosted prerecorded loop. If you use a separate source to send the live video, select the vertical format and layout before starting; YouTube says the vertical layout cannot be added after the stream has begun.
