Google Cloud Compute Engine is a cloud GPU option to shortlist for 4K 60fps YouTube Live streaming from India: Google lists GPU machine types in Mumbai and Delhi. That establishes regional GPU availability, not guaranteed capacity or proven streaming performance. No like-for-like evidence here establishes a best-value provider for a particular 4K60 workflow, so verify a suitable instance and test its full path to YouTube before relying on it.

If your goal is to keep uploaded videos playing on YouTube around the clock rather than encode a live camera or desktop feed, that is a different job: StreamNeo is a managed cloud service for always-on YouTube playback.

What “cloud streaming” means for 4K60

A cloud GPU virtual machine (VM) can host an encoder such as OBS and send its output to YouTube. It can suit a production workflow that needs a remote workstation, but you must provision and configure the VM, provide or capture the video and audio source, and maintain the stream. A GPU in an Indian region does not by itself guarantee a particular encoder speed, YouTube-bound connection, or uninterrupted broadcast.

A managed live-media API is different: it is a pipeline component, not automatically a remote OBS desktop or a direct YouTube broadcaster. Confirm its input and output protocols and the complete workflow before treating it as a substitute for an encoder VM.

Why Google Cloud is a candidate in India—not a proven winner

Google Cloud’s official GPU location matrix lists GPU machine types in Mumbai (asia-south1) and Delhi (asia-south2). The listed families differ by zone: the matrix includes G2 in Mumbai and G4/G2 in listed Delhi zones. Check the current matrix and console for the exact family and zone you need; a location listing does not mean capacity or quota is available when you try to create an instance. The available evidence does not establish a comparable ranking of Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, or other providers for Indian-region inventory, sustained 4K60 encoding, outbound route quality to YouTube, or total session cost. Treat Google Cloud as a geographically documented starting point and compare and test providers against your own workload, rather than assuming it is the fastest or cheapest.

Choose a VM by the whole workflow

Before provisioning, assess all of the following. GPU family names alone do not tell you whether your chosen encoder, codec, operating system, and source workflow will work together.

  • GPU and encoder: Confirm the exact GPU model and whether its hardware encoder supports your intended codec—H.264, HEVC/H.265, or AV1—and target frame rate.
  • Zone, quota, and capacity: Verify the machine family is offered in the chosen Indian zone and that your project has quota and capacity for it at provisioning time.
  • OS and input: Confirm your operating system, GPU driver, encoder application, and capture or file-input method are compatible. For OBS, establish how the source reaches the VM and how audio is captured or supplied.
  • Outbound path: The VM must sustain delivery to YouTube ingest, not merely have a GPU. Check the connection from the actual instance and leave headroom above the video bitrate.
  • Latency: YouTube’s cited guidance says the low-latency option is unavailable for 4K/2160p; 4K streams use normal latency. This matters for live interaction and viewer expectations.
  • Full cost: Calculate the whole session, including VM runtime, storage, and network egress. Charges and prices vary by provider, configuration, and current terms; check the provider’s current pricing before launching.
  • Operations and security: Plan for unattended operation, restart and monitoring, and safe handling of the YouTube stream key. A VM does not remove the need to manage failures or credentials.

Set YouTube’s 4K60 encoder settings

Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance for the selected codec and ingestion protocol. Its help page lists these recommendations for 4K/2160p at 60 fps:

Setting YouTube guidance
H.264 bitrate 35 Mbps recommended
AV1 or H.265 bitrate 10–40 Mbps listed range
Frame rate Up to 60 fps
Bitrate mode Constant bitrate (CBR)
Keyframe interval 2 seconds recommended; no more than 4 seconds
Ingest protocol RTMPS is the recommended secure path; confirm encoder support and current stream configuration
Latency at 4K Normal latency; the low-latency option is unavailable

These values are from Google’s YouTube Help guidance, accessed in 2026; the page notes that exact options depend on ingestion protocol and stream configuration. Check the current page when configuring a broadcast: YouTube encoder settings and live-stream requirements. YouTube also advises choosing a quality that is reliable for the available internet connection and recommends a speed test. A cloud VM’s GPU location cannot establish whether its outbound connection has enough sustained bandwidth.

Provision and test before a real broadcast

  1. Choose a region and instance: Check Google Cloud’s current GPU location matrix, then confirm the desired machine family, zone capacity, and project quota in the console. Select an OS image and GPU driver that support your encoder and input method.
  2. Prepare the source and encoder: Install and configure your encoder, such as OBS, and confirm how the intended video and audio reach the VM. Set the resolution, 60 fps, codec-specific bitrate, CBR, and keyframe interval using YouTube’s current guidance.
  3. Configure YouTube ingest: In YouTube Live Control Room, use the stream’s ingest details and stream key in the encoder. Prefer RTMPS where supported. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
  4. Check the actual VM connection: Run a speed test and a representative upload test from the VM. Confirm sustained headroom above the selected bitrate and watch for interruptions; a headline network specification is not a test of your particular route to YouTube.
  5. Run a representative preflight: Test from the intended VM and network path with similar motion and audio to the real program. Check that the encoder is not dropping or lagging frames, audio and video stay in sync, and YouTube Live Control Room reports healthy stream status.
  6. Monitor the event: Watch stream health and messages in Live Control Room during the broadcast, and have a recovery plan for encoder, VM, connection, or ingest failures. YouTube’s guidance says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream” and to monitor stream health during the event. A preflight is evidence about your own setup, not a guarantee of future capacity or service.

Optional hardware for a camera or HDMI source

If your production begins with a camera or HDMI source and you want a standalone hardware encoder, Blackmagic Design lists the Streaming Encoder 4K with USB-C up to 2160p60 and YouTube among its supported destinations. It is physical production hardware, not a cloud service or a requirement for encoding in a GPU VM. Check the manufacturer’s current specifications and product configuration against your source connections and workflow before buying: Blackmagic Design Streaming Encoder 4K.

Or let it run in the cloud

For a 24/7 YouTube channel built from uploaded recordings or a playlist, StreamNeo handles playback rather than providing a VM for OBS, a camera feed, or a live desktop production. The setup is:
