For a Galaxy Ultra that supports 45W charging, buy a USB-C charger rated for 45W with both USB Power Delivery (PD) and Programmable Power Supply (PPS). Samsung identifies its EP-TA845 as a 45W PD charger with PDO/PPS profiles for compatible Galaxy phones. For a power bank, look for USB-C PD/PPS output first, then choose capacity, recharge speed, ports, cable quality and weight that fit your trip. Not every Galaxy Ultra charges at the same rate, so confirm your exact model before buying.

The short answer: what to buy

A suitable wall charger has three essentials:

  • USB-C output. This is the connector used by current Galaxy Ultra phones for wired charging.
  • USB Power Delivery (PD). Samsung says Super Fast Charging depends on a compatible USB PD charger, not merely a high wattage number.
  • Programmable Power Supply (PPS), rated to 45W. PPS lets the charger adjust voltage and current within the phone’s requested range. A charger can advertise 45W yet omit PPS, in which case it may not deliver Samsung’s fastest charging mode.

Samsung’s 2025 compatibility guidance lists the EP-TA845 as a 45W PD charger and documents PDO/PPS profiles reaching 45W for compatible Galaxy phones. That makes it a useful reference specification, not proof that every Ultra generation will draw 45W. Charging speed depends on the exact phone model, battery state, temperature, cable and charger configuration.

For portable charging, choose a bank whose USB-C output explicitly supports PD and PPS. Match or exceed the phone’s supported input wattage, use a cable rated for that output, and select capacity only after considering how much weight you are willing to carry. A large capacity without PPS can still produce slower charging than a smaller, protocol-compatible bank.

Check your exact Galaxy Ultra before shopping

“Galaxy Ultra” describes a family, not one charging specification. Samsung has changed charging behavior between generations and regions, and retail bundles can differ. Before ordering, identify the model name and model number in Settings > About phone, then consult Samsung’s specifications or support information for that model.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • Confirm whether your phone supports 45W charging or a lower maximum.
  • Check whether Samsung lists Super Fast Charging 2.0 or another generation-specific label for your device.
  • Verify the charger and cable requirements for the market where your phone was sold.
  • Do not assume that a newer Ultra, an older Ultra or a regional variant has identical charging behavior.

If your model is limited below 45W, a 45W PPS charger remains electrically suitable because the phone negotiates only the power it supports; it will not make that model charge at 45W. Conversely, buying a lower-rated charger for a 45W-capable model leaves speed on the table.

Why PD and PPS matter more than the wattage label

USB Power Delivery

USB PD is the negotiation system through which the phone and charger agree on an available power profile. The charger advertises supported profiles; the phone requests one it can safely use. This is why “45W” printed on a charger is not enough information. A 45W charger using a different charging standard may not enter Samsung’s Super Fast Charging mode.

Programmable Power Supply

PPS adds finer-grained, adjustable voltage and current control to PD. Samsung’s guidance specifically tells buyers to check for both PD and PPS when seeking Super Fast Charging. In practical terms, a listing should state USB PD PPS in the output specifications, not bury it in a generic claim such as “fast charge.”

PDO profiles and the 45W figure

Samsung documents PDO (Power Data Object) and PPS profiles for its 45W charger. The 45W figure is the charger’s maximum output under its supported profile; it is not a promise that a phone will draw 45W continuously. Phones commonly reduce input as the battery fills, or when heat and other protective limits require it.

Wall-charger buying guide

Use the following checklist when comparing models. It separates requirements from conveniences so you do not pay for a feature that cannot improve charging on your phone.

Specification What to look for Why it matters
Maximum output 45W for a 45W-capable Ultra; lower is acceptable for models with a lower limit Sets the upper power ceiling available to the phone
Charging protocol USB PD with PPS explicitly listed Required for Samsung’s fastest compatible charging mode
Port type USB-C output Matches the phone’s current wired charging connection
Port count One port for maximum simplicity, or multiple USB-C/USB-A ports for other devices Additional ports can improve travel convenience but may divide total power
Cable in the box Included only if the listing specifies it A charger can meet the protocol requirement while the supplied cable does not support its maximum output
Size and weight Not stated in Samsung’s compatibility guidance; compare the individual listing Important when the charger stays in a small bag or outlet strip
Safety information Clear electrical ratings, certification for your region and protections stated by the manufacturer Helps you avoid undocumented or counterfeit hardware

Single-port versus multi-port chargers

A single-port 45W charger has the simplest power path: the phone receives the port’s full advertised capability when the cable and protocol match. It is a sensible choice if you mainly charge one Ultra.

A multi-port charger is more useful when you charge a tablet, earbuds or another phone at the same time. Read the listing’s simultaneous-output table, not just the headline wattage. Some models allocate the full rating to one port but reduce the USB-C port when another port is occupied. The exact allocation is not stated in Samsung’s guidance and varies by charger.

GaN, folding plugs and other convenience features

Gallium-nitride components, folding plugs and compact housings can reduce travel bulk, but none of these features guarantees PPS. Treat them as secondary choices after confirming USB PD PPS and the required wattage. Compare dimensions and mass from the specific product listing because no universal size or weight is established for 45W chargers.

Samsung’s 45W reference charger

EP-TA845

Samsung identifies the EP-TA845 as a 45W PD charger for compatible Galaxy phones and documents PDO/PPS profiles reaching 45W. It is the clearest baseline when a retailer’s third-party specifications are confusing: a competing charger should offer the same core combination—USB-C, USB PD and PPS at a 45W rating—to target the same charging capability.

Compatibility still depends on the phone model and cable. Samsung’s guidance does not establish a universal list of every Ultra generation, a current retail price, stock status, independent safety-lab result or charging-time benchmark. Check the current regional listing before purchase and treat any advertised charging time as product-specific rather than a guaranteed result for all Ultras.

How to choose a power bank for a Galaxy Ultra

Power banks add two separate questions: can the bank charge the phone at the desired speed, and will it hold enough energy for the journey? Evaluate them in that order.

Priority Specification to verify Decision rule
1 USB-C output protocol Require USB PD and PPS if you want Samsung’s fastest compatible mode
2 Output wattage Match the Ultra’s supported maximum; a 45W-capable phone needs a bank that can provide the requested profile
3 Capacity Choose enough stored energy for your itinerary, balancing size and weight
4 Recharge input Check how quickly the bank itself can be refilled and which port accepts that input
5 Weight and dimensions Compare the actual listing; capacity alone does not indicate portability
6 Ports Confirm whether USB-C is input, output or both, and how output is shared when several devices are connected
7 Cable requirement Carry a USB-C cable rated for the bank’s maximum current and the phone’s target mode
8 Pass-through behavior Read the manufacturer’s statement; support is not universal and can affect safety and charging speed
9 Travel practicality Check the bank’s published dimensions, mass and airline rules applicable to your route

Capacity without misleading promises

Power-bank capacity is commonly printed in milliamp-hours, while the usable energy delivered to a phone is lower than the nominal cell rating because conversion consumes energy. Do not translate a label directly into a guaranteed number of phone charges. Compare banks using the manufacturer’s rated energy when it is provided, then account for losses, cable quality, phone use and temperature.

The available data provides no independent capacity measurements or battery-life tests. That means a larger printed capacity should be treated as a purchasing indicator, not a measured promise of a specific number of Ultra recharges.

Why PPS is easy to miss on power banks

Many listings prominently advertise a total wattage while describing only PD or a proprietary fast-charge mode. Look for a port-by-port specification that names PPS and states its supported output range. If PPS is absent or unclear, assume the bank may charge the phone more slowly even when its headline wattage is high.

Recharging the bank

A bank with fast USB-C input can be more useful than one with a larger capacity that takes much longer to refill. Confirm whether the same USB-C port is bidirectional, what input wattage it accepts and whether the required wall charger is included. These details vary by product and are not established by Samsung’s phone guidance.

The cable is part of the charging system

Samsung warns that an unsuitable USB cable can prevent a charger from delivering its maximum supported output. A cable may fit physically yet fail to carry the current required for the negotiated profile.

  • Use a USB-C cable whose current rating is stated by the manufacturer.
  • Match the cable to the charger or power bank’s maximum output, not just to the phone connector.
  • Replace cables with damaged plugs, loose connectors, exposed conductors or intermittent charging.
  • When a charger includes a cable, verify that the listing says it supports the advertised power; inclusion alone is not proof.

If the phone repeatedly falls back to ordinary charging, test with a known-compliant cable before replacing the charger. Samsung’s warning means the cable can be the limiting component.

Correct setup for the fastest compatible charge

  1. Identify the phone. Open Settings > About phone and record the exact Galaxy Ultra model and regional variant.
  2. Confirm the target wattage. Use Samsung’s specification for that model; do not infer it from the word “Ultra.”
  3. Read the charger or bank output label. Confirm USB-C, USB PD, PPS and a wattage at least equal to the phone’s supported maximum.
  4. Select the cable. Use a USB-C cable with a stated current rating suitable for the target output.
  5. Connect directly. For testing, plug the phone into the charger’s USB-C port without hubs, adapters or a low-rated extension.
  6. Check the phone’s charging indicator. Samsung’s on-screen wording can vary by model and software; verify that the expected fast-charging mode appears rather than relying on the charger label.
  7. Repeat with the power bank. Test the bank while it has adequate charge and with no other device connected, then check the indicator again.

Do not use the initial percentage increase as a universal speed test. Charging rate changes with battery level, device temperature, screen use and background activity. Samsung’s published 45W figure describes charger capability, not a fixed minutes-per-percent result.

Choosing by use case

Desk or bedside charging

Choose a 45W USB-C PD/PPS wall charger if your Ultra supports 45W. A single-port model minimizes allocation surprises. If you charge several devices, select a multi-port unit only after checking its simultaneous-output table.

Daily commuting

A compact PPS charger and a short, compliant USB-C cable usually reduce bulk. Capacity is less important than having a reliable outlet during the day, so a small power bank is optional rather than automatically better. Compare actual dimensions and weight because no standard size exists for this category.

Long flights or days away from outlets

Prioritize a power bank with enough rated energy for the itinerary, then verify USB-C PD/PPS output and output wattage. Carry the cable separately if the bank does not include one. Check the airline and destination rules that apply to your route; the available data does not establish a universal travel-capacity limit.

Charging several devices

Use a bank or charger with enough ports and a clearly documented power-allocation table. Connecting another device can reduce the USB-C port’s available output. If the Ultra is the priority, connect it to the port identified for the highest PD/PPS output.

Lower-wattage Ultra models

A 45W PPS charger is compatible in principle when the phone requests less power, but it may cost more or be larger than necessary. Buy the wattage your model supports unless you also need the charger for another device.

Troubleshooting: when Super Fast Charging does not appear

1. The phone charges, but slowly

  • Recheck that the charger output explicitly lists both PD and PPS.
  • Try a compliant USB-C cable; Samsung says a noncompliant cable can limit output or interrupt charging.
  • Disconnect other devices from a multi-port charger or power bank.
  • Inspect the phone and cable connectors for debris, moisture or physical damage.
  • Check the exact Ultra model’s supported wattage; it may not be a 45W model.

2. The phone starts and stops charging

  • Replace the cable and test the charger from a different outlet.
  • Remove hubs, dongles and extension accessories while diagnosing.
  • Let an overheated phone or power bank cool, and avoid charging under bedding or in direct sun.
  • Stop using hardware with damaged connectors, swelling, a burnt smell or visible heat damage.

3. A power bank advertises high wattage but not PPS

High total wattage does not establish Samsung’s fastest mode. If the listing does not name PPS for the USB-C output, choose a model with a clearer port specification or accept slower charging.

  • What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.

4. Charging slows when another device is connected

This is usually power allocation rather than a phone fault. Read the charger’s or bank’s simultaneous-output table and reserve the highest-rated USB-C port for the Ultra.

5. The charger works with one Ultra but not another

Model generations can support different charging rates and profiles. Compare each phone’s specification and test the same charger-and-cable combination separately; do not generalize one model’s result to the entire Ultra line.

Safety and authenticity checks

  • Buy from a seller that identifies the manufacturer, model number and electrical ratings.
  • Compare the printed ratings with the manufacturer’s current regional documentation.
  • Do not cover ventilation openings or charge a hot phone inside an enclosed bag.
  • Keep liquid away from the phone, cable and power bank.
  • Retire a power bank that is swollen, leaking, unusually hot or physically damaged.
  • Use the plug and voltage configuration intended for your region, with a properly rated adapter where necessary.

What the evidence does—and does not—establish

Samsung’s 2025 guidance establishes a 45W PD charger with PDO/PPS profiles as compatible with 45W-capable Galaxy phones, and it tells users to verify both charger protocol and cable suitability. It does not establish one best brand for every buyer, a universal charging time, a measured number of power-bank recharges, current market pricing or compatibility with every Galaxy Ultra generation.

That distinction matters when reading listings. A product can be technically capable yet unsuitable for your model, cable or travel needs. The reliable buying sequence is therefore: identify the phone, verify its maximum input, require PD/PPS, confirm the cable, then optimize capacity, ports, size and price.

Final buying checklist

  • Exact Galaxy Ultra model confirmed in Settings > About phone.
  • Phone’s supported charging wattage verified from Samsung.
  • Wall charger or power bank has USB-C output.
  • USB PD and PPS are explicitly named in the output specification.
  • Rated output meets the phone’s supported maximum without relying on a shared-port total.
  • USB-C cable has a stated rating suitable for the target output.
  • Multi-port power allocation, if relevant, is understood.
  • Power-bank capacity, recharge input, weight and pass-through behavior fit the trip.
  • Regional price, stock, plug format and travel rules checked immediately before purchase.

For a 45W-capable Galaxy Ultra, the dependable baseline is a 45W USB-C PD/PPS charger and a matching cable. Apply the same protocol test to a power bank, then choose capacity and portability around how you actually travel.
