The best low-cost ASUS Vivobook setup starts with protection, then adds comfort and only the connectivity you actually need: buy a correctly fitted sleeve or bag, a wireless mouse, and a stand; add a USB-C hub or dock only after checking your exact Vivobook’s ports. A monitor and USB-C charging setup require particular caution because ASUS uses different USB-C capabilities across Vivobook configurations.

The short list: what to buy first

Most Vivobook owners get the greatest benefit in this order:

  1. Protective bag or sleeve: choose by the laptop compartment’s measured dimensions, not just “15-inch” or “16-inch” wording.
  2. Wireless mouse: useful for long desktop sessions and often more comfortable than a touchpad.
  3. Laptop stand: raises the screen for a more comfortable viewing height; plan to use a separate keyboard if the laptop is elevated for long periods.
  4. USB hub or dock: worthwhile when you routinely connect storage, a mouse receiver, Ethernet, displays or several USB devices. It is not automatically useful just because the laptop has USB-C.

ASUS lists the Vivobook 15 X1504 with two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, a USB 2.0 port, HDMI 1.4 and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack in commonly sold configurations. Exact port functions vary by model and region, so use the label on the underside of the laptop or its ASUS specifications page before ordering a dock.

Identify your exact Vivobook before spending money

Find the complete model code

“Vivobook 15” describes a family, not one universal chassis. The model code (for example, a code in the X1504 family) determines the port layout, dimensions, USB-C features and sometimes the included accessories. In Windows, open Settings > System > About and note the model shown under device specifications. The product label on the underside and the original invoice can provide a second check.

Inventory what came in the box

ASUS says included accessories differ by country and territory. A bundle can already contain a wired USB mouse, a backpack or a USB-A-to-RJ45 Ethernet adapter. Check the box and your order confirmation before buying duplicates. A free bundled mouse may be adequate for occasional use, while a separate wireless mouse removes the cable from your desk.

Record dimensions and port markings

  • Measure the laptop’s width, depth and thickness, including any feet or protrusions that enter a sleeve.
  • Photograph the left and right edges so you can match each port to a hub or dock requirement.
  • Look specifically for USB-C symbols. A plain USB symbol usually indicates data; a display icon or “DP” marking can indicate video output; a charging or Power Delivery marking indicates a different capability. Do not assume that one symbol is present on every Vivobook.

1. Protection: choose a fitted Vivobook bag or sleeve

ASUS Vivobook 3-in-1 Bag

The ASUS Vivobook 3-in-1 Bag is the clearest direct-fit option in ASUS’s accessory range. ASUS describes a protective layer for laptops under 16 inches, three-stage webbing and an external pocket. ASUS comparison data lists a laptop compartment measuring 36.05 × 25.95 × 1.93 cm and a water-repellent feature. Those measurements come from ASUS’s product-comparison page accessed in 2026; verify your own chassis dimensions and the current regional listing before ordering.

“Under 16 inches” is a compatibility limit, not a guarantee that every 15.6-inch Vivobook fits. Two laptops with the same diagonal screen measurement can have different bezels, depths or hinge shapes. Compare your measured width, depth and thickness with the compartment figures and leave enough room for the laptop to slide in without force. A very loose compartment lets the computer move inside the bag; an overly tight one can stress zippers and corners.

How to select a generic sleeve

  • Use internal measurements: the sleeve’s stated laptop compartment should exceed your measured dimensions by a small, practical margin, not by several centimetres in every direction.
  • Check closure clearance: zippers, magnetic flaps and thick seams can reduce the usable opening compared with the advertised compartment.
  • Look for corner and screen protection: padding at the base and corners matters more than a thin, soft lining alone.
  • Match your transport: a sleeve works inside another bag; a shoulder or backpack-style bag is more convenient if the accessory must carry the charger and notebooks.
  • Consider moisture: a water-repellent exterior helps with splashes but is not the same as a waterproof dry bag.

What to carry separately

Do not force the AC adapter into the laptop compartment if it bows the sleeve or presses against the screen. Use the external pocket or a separate cable pouch. Keep sharp USB adapters and other metal objects away from the display side. If you use a stand at a fixed desk, a slim sleeve may be a better value than a larger travel bag.

2. A wireless mouse for everyday control

ASUS Marshmallow Mouse MD100

ASUS lists the Marshmallow Mouse MD100 in its accessory catalogue as a compact wireless mouse for Vivobook users. It is a sensible match when you want a small pointer for a laptop bag, but confirm whether your regional Vivobook bundle already includes a wired mouse. The available data does not establish a universal price, battery specification or warranty term, so compare the current local listing rather than relying on an old catalogue entry.

Features that matter on a budget

  • Receiver or Bluetooth: a USB receiver uses one of your laptop’s ports; Bluetooth preserves every USB port but requires compatible pairing support and battery management.
  • Shape and size: compact models travel well, while a larger shell can be more comfortable for a full workday.
  • Scroll-wheel feel: a notched wheel is useful for documents and spreadsheets; a loose wheel can be frustrating when precise scrolling matters.
  • Power access: check whether the mouse uses replaceable batteries or a rechargeable cell and whether the charging cable is included.
  • Receiver storage: a recessed storage slot reduces the chance of losing a tiny USB receiver in a bag.

If a receiver occupies one of the two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports on a Vivobook 15 X1504, you still have another Type-A port plus USB 2.0 for low-bandwidth devices. A Bluetooth mouse avoids that trade-off. For a desk setup with several peripherals, place the receiver in a hub only if the hub is stable and close enough to avoid intermittent wireless performance.

3. A stand for a more comfortable desk position

When a stand is worth the money

A stand raises the display so you do not have to bend your neck toward a low laptop screen. It also frees desk space beneath the computer for a keyboard, documents or a small hub. The ergonomic benefit is greatest when the Vivobook stays in one place for hours; it is less compelling if you work mostly on a sofa or move rooms frequently.

What to check before buying

  • Base stability: the platform should not rock when you type or tap the touchpad.
  • Ventilation: open space around the laptop’s underside and exhaust areas is preferable to a design that blocks them.
  • Adjustment: a fixed riser costs less and has fewer parts to loosen; an adjustable stand is more flexible for different chairs and desks.
  • Contact surfaces: rubber pads protect the finish and stop sliding.
  • Foldability: choose a folding design if the stand must travel with the laptop.
  • Keyboard plan: once the screen is raised, an external keyboard and mouse create a more natural typing position than reaching up to the built-in keyboard.

Do not treat a stand as a substitute for cooling hardware. Its primary purpose is screen height and desk posture. Keep the laptop’s intake and exhaust openings unobstructed and use the manufacturer’s normal power settings.

4. USB hubs and docks: buy for a specific port problem

Know what your Vivobook’s USB-C port can do

ASUS lists a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port on commonly sold Vivobook 15 X1504 configurations, but ASUS also sells Vivobook variants with different USB-C capabilities. A USB-C connector establishes the shape of the plug, not every function behind it. Before ordering, verify three separate questions in the exact model’s specifications:

  • USB data: can the port operate a hub and at what stated speed?
  • Display output: does the port support video, such as DisplayPort over USB-C?
  • USB-C Power Delivery input: can the laptop accept charging through that port?

A dock cannot add a capability that the laptop port does not provide. If the port carries data only, a dock can expand USB connectivity but cannot create USB-C video output or USB-C charging.

ASUS USB-C Mini Dock

ASUS describes the USB-C Mini Dock as a compact USB-C interface dock. It suits a travel setup when you need several connections from one port, but its useful functions depend on the Vivobook’s USB-C implementation. Confirm the dock’s current port list and your laptop’s data, display and charging support together; do not buy on the word “USB-C” alone.

ASUS USB-C Stand Dock DC310

The ASUS Business Product Guide for 2026 Q1 describes the USB-C Stand Dock DC310 as a 10-in-1 docking station and positions it as an ergonomic stand as well as a connectivity device. It is a better fit for a permanent desk where many peripherals remain plugged in. Check the guide or the current regional product page for the exact ten ports, because the number of ports alone does not tell you which are display, network, audio, data or charging connections.

Hub or dock: a practical decision

Need Usually sufficient Check first
One mouse receiver and a flash drive Small USB hub, or the laptop’s existing ports Available USB-A/USB-C data ports and the hub’s bus power
Several USB devices at a fixed desk Powered hub or full dock Power budget, data speed and cable length
External monitor HDMI connection when the laptop has HDMI 1.4 Monitor input, cable and the Vivobook’s supported resolution
USB-C monitor USB-C dock only when the laptop supports USB-C display output Display output on the exact Vivobook USB-C port
Charging through the dock Dock with USB-C Power Delivery, if supported by the laptop Vivobook USB-C PD input and the dock’s delivered wattage

Monitor and charging advice is model-specific

Use HDMI when that is the confirmed video path

The commonly listed Vivobook 15 X1504 port set includes HDMI 1.4. If your exact model has that port, an HDMI cable is the least ambiguous way to attach a monitor. Match the monitor’s input and consult the laptop and display specifications for supported resolutions and refresh rates. Do not infer a particular resolution or refresh rate from the connector name alone.

Do not assume USB-C charging

Some Vivobook configurations add USB-C Power Delivery while others do not. A USB-C dock with a charging input can power accessories and still fail to charge a Vivobook whose USB-C port lacks PD input. Keep the original ASUS charger available until the exact model documentation confirms USB-C charging. If charging is supported, verify the dock’s Power Delivery profile and cable rating before making it your only charger.

Test a new dock in separate stages

  1. Connect the dock to the Vivobook without any peripherals and confirm that the laptop recognises it.
  2. Add one USB device and verify that it appears in Windows.
  3. Connect the display and select Settings > System > Display to choose duplicate or extend mode.
  4. Only then connect Ethernet, storage, audio and power-delivery cables.

Staging the connections identifies whether a failure is caused by the laptop port, a cable, one peripheral or the dock itself.

Accessory combinations for different budgets

Use case Recommended combination Why it fits Important qualification
Mobile student or commuter Fitted sleeve or Vivobook 3-in-1 Bag + compact wireless mouse Protects the laptop and improves navigation without adding desk hardware. Confirm compartment dimensions and whether a mouse was bundled.
Home desk, few peripherals Protective bag + mouse + stable stand Improves transport and screen height without paying for unused ports. Plan for an external keyboard when the stand is high.
Desk with many USB devices Protective bag + stand + USB-C hub or dock Keeps a fixed cable setup while the laptop can still travel. Verify USB-C data, display and PD independently.
Single-monitor workstation Protective bag + stand + HDMI cable or compatible dock Uses the confirmed video route and leaves the desk organised. HDMI availability and USB-C display support are model-specific.

There is no reliable universal “total cost” for these combinations: regional prices, delivery charges, promotions and bundle contents change, and no independent market-price statistic establishes a typical accessory budget. Compare the delivered price in your country and include any required keyboard, cable or charger rather than comparing the headline accessory price alone.

Compatibility checklist before checkout

  • Have you recorded the complete Vivobook model code, not just “Vivobook 15”?
  • Do the sleeve’s internal width, depth and thickness exceed your measured laptop dimensions without excessive slack?
  • Did you check whether ASUS already supplied a mouse, backpack or USB-A-to-RJ45 adapter in your region?
  • For a mouse, will Bluetooth or a USB receiver leave you enough usable ports?
  • For a stand, will the laptop remain stable and ventilated, and do you have a separate keyboard if needed?
  • For a hub or dock, have you confirmed USB data, display output and USB-C Power Delivery separately?
  • For an external monitor, are you using the laptop’s confirmed HDMI or USB-C video path?
  • Have you checked the retailer’s regional warranty, return window and delivered shipping cost?

Troubleshooting common accessory problems

The sleeve is labelled 15 or 16 inches but does not fit

Stop forcing the zipper. Recheck the laptop’s measured width, depth and thickness against the sleeve’s internal compartment dimensions. Screen diagonal labels are approximate and do not account for bezels, hinge geometry or protective shells. Return the sleeve if the compartment is smaller than the computer or if the laptop moves enough to strike the sides.

The mouse receiver is not detected

Try another USB port, remove any transport cover from the receiver, replace or recharge the mouse battery and test without the hub. If it works directly but not through a hub, the hub or its power arrangement is the likely point of failure. Bluetooth users should remove an old pairing and pair again through Settings > Bluetooth & devices.

The dock provides USB but no monitor image

First test the monitor through the Vivobook’s HDMI port if available. Then verify that the exact USB-C port supports display output; a USB-C data-only port cannot send video through a dock. Check the monitor input selection, try a known-good cable and connect the dock before attaching additional peripherals.

The laptop does not charge through the dock

Confirm that the Vivobook model supports USB-C Power Delivery input. If it does not, use the original ASUS charger. If it does, check that the dock is connected to its own power supply, that the USB-C cable supports the required function and that the dock’s PD output meets the laptop’s specification.

The stand makes the laptop unstable or warm

Move the computer so its feet sit fully on the platform and its ventilation openings remain clear. Tighten or replace a loose hinge on an adjustable stand. If the design blocks the intake or exhaust, choose a more open platform rather than trying to compensate with software settings.

How the main options compare

Accessory Best for Known ASUS details What remains model- or region-dependent
Vivobook 3-in-1 Bag Protection and carrying Protective layer for laptops under 16 inches; three-stage webbing; external pocket; water-repellent feature; 36.05 × 25.95 × 1.93 cm compartment listed by ASUS. Exact fit, current regional availability, price and warranty.
Marshmallow Mouse MD100 Compact wireless pointing Listed by ASUS as a compact wireless mouse for Vivobook. Bundle inclusion, connection method, battery details, price and warranty.
USB-C Mini Dock Portable port expansion Described by ASUS as a compact USB-C interface dock. Exact ports and whether the Vivobook supports data, display and PD through USB-C.
USB-C Stand Dock DC310 Permanent multi-device desk Described in ASUS’s 2026 Q1 Business Product Guide as a 10-in-1 docking station. Exact ten-port configuration, video support, PD output, regional price and warranty.
Generic laptop stand Screen-height and desk ergonomics No universal ASUS specification; choose for stability, ventilation and adjustment. Fit, load rating, portability, price and warranty vary by model.

Bottom-line buying order

Measure the laptop first, then buy the protective bag or sleeve that fits those measurements. Add a wireless mouse if the touchpad or a cable is slowing you down, and add a stable stand for a mostly stationary desk. Buy a USB-C Mini Dock or the 10-in-1 USB-C Stand Dock DC310 only when you can name the ports you need and have verified that your exact Vivobook USB-C port supports each required function. Keep monitor and USB-C charging decisions tied to the specific model, not to the Vivobook name or the USB-C connector shape.
