Short answer: For a traditional joystick on Nintendo Switch and Windows, choose the 8BitDo Arcade Stick. Its all-button companion, the 8BitDo Arcade Controller, is the compact leverless choice for those systems. The MAYFLASH F500 V2 is the most broadly documented wired base across Switch, PC and older PlayStation consoles, but PlayStation 5 use requires the MagicBoots-S5 adapter. For a PlayStation-focused setup, the Qanba N3 Drone 2, HORI Fighting Stick Alpha and Victrix Pro KO are the relevant models in a dated comparison, subject to checking the exact console edition before purchase.
There is no single “works everywhere” answer. Confirm console authentication first, then choose joystick or leverless movement, wired or wireless connection, size, modding support and budget.
What Street Fighter II versions are you buying for?
Capcom’s Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is the main modern package for playing the series on these platforms. Capcom announced the collection in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, and released it in 2018 on those systems and Steam. Capcom listed a historical MSRP of $39.99 at announcement; that is not a current hardware or software price.
Because these are 2D games with a small number of simultaneous inputs, almost any correctly authenticated fighting-game controller can handle them. The meaningful differences are whether the console accepts the controller, how the directional inputs feel, and whether the enclosure stays stable on your lap or desk.

Platform authentication comes before every other feature
Nintendo Switch
Switch support is explicitly documented for both 8BitDo models and the MAYFLASH F500 V2. The 8BitDo Arcade Stick can connect by Bluetooth, its 2.4G wireless receiver or USB-C. The Arcade Controller offers the same three connection methods. The F500 V2 is a wired USB controller, so plan for a cable running to the dock or console setup.
Windows PC
Windows 10 and later are listed for the 8BitDo Arcade Stick. The Arcade Controller is documented for Windows, while the F500 V2 exposes both XInput and DInput modes. XInput is generally the first mode to try in a modern PC game; DInput is useful when a title or emulator expects older DirectInput behavior. If a game shows no inputs, change the controller mode before remapping every button.
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
Do not infer PlayStation compatibility from a USB plug. The 8BitDo Arcade Stick’s FAQ expressly excludes PS4 and PS5. The F500 V2 lists PS4 and PS3, while its firmware notes describe PS5 use with the separate MagicBoots-S5 adapter. That is an adapter path, not native PS5 authentication, and it adds another item whose firmware and compatibility must be maintained.

A single universal stick is not established by the documented specifications here. The 8BitDo Arcade Stick is a strong two-platform Switch/PC choice but is ruled out for PlayStation. The F500 V2 covers more systems when wired and can reach PS5 through the specified adapter, yet that setup is less plug-and-play than a controller licensed for the target PlayStation. If you regularly move between consoles, buying for the most restrictive platform first avoids an expensive incompatibility.
Joystick or leverless: which layout suits Street Fighter II?
Traditional eight-way joystick
A stick gives one physical lever for left, right, up and down, with diagonals registered through the gate. It is the familiar layout for arcade-era Street Fighter II and provides tactile feedback when you roll through a quarter-circle or hold a charge direction. All-button leverless controls
A leverless pad replaces the joystick with separate movement buttons. The 8BitDo Arcade Controller uses quad movement and documents SOCD modes, programmable P1–P4 buttons, replaceable lock caps and hot-swappable Kailh Wizard low-profile switches. The Victrix Pro KO is also identified as a leverless controller with hot-swappable switches in the PCGamesN comparison.
Leverless controls can make individual directional presses easy to isolate and keep the unit thin, but the hand motion is unfamiliar if you learned on an arcade lever. SOCD means the controller has a rule for simultaneous opposite-direction presses; select the documented mode that your game and event rules permit rather than assuming every mode behaves identically.

Choose a joystick if you want the arcade feel, play several retro games with different control schemes, or share the controller with someone who already understands a lever. Choose leverless if compactness, replaceable switches and clearly separated directional buttons matter more than matching the original cabinet layout. Neither layout gives a documented performance advantage by itself; comfort and reliable registration matter more for Street Fighter II.
8BitDo Arcade Stick: the Switch/PC traditional pick
8BitDo describes this model as a joystick designed specifically for Switch and PC. It is the clearest fit when those are your only target platforms and you want wireless flexibility without an adapter.

The runtime figures are manufacturer ratings, not an independent latency or battery test. Wired USB-C is the safest choice for a long session or a setup where you do not want to monitor battery level. Bluetooth and 2.4G remove the cable, but keep the receiver and charging cable available.

Why it works well for Switch and PC

The limitation that should stop a mistaken purchase
The manufacturer FAQ says the stick does not work with PS4, PS5, Xbox One or Xbox Series. A USB cable or Bluetooth pairing cannot remove that platform restriction. If PlayStation is part of your plan, select a PlayStation-authenticated model instead of hoping a firmware update will add support.
8BitDo Arcade Controller: a thin leverless alternative
This is an all-button, quad-movement controller for Switch and Windows. It is nearly A4-sized and as thin as 1.6 cm, making it easier to store in a laptop bag than a deep joystick enclosure.

MAYFLASH F500 V2: the documented multi-platform wired base
The F500 V2 is the practical choice when you want one wired enclosure for several older consoles and PC input modes. MAYFLASH lists Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, PS4 and PS3, Xbox systems, Android and several mini-console systems.
Features that affect setup
- USB connection keeps the controller powered and avoids wireless pairing.
- On PC, you can select XInput or DInput.
- A switch changes between D-pad and analog modes, which helps when a game expects one type of directional input rather than the other.
- Turbo is built in; use it only where the game or event rules allow it.
- An octagonal gate gives the joystick defined diagonal positions.
- The weighted chassis is intended to stay planted during play.
Size and weight qualification
The product page lists dimensions of 36.2 × 23.3 × 11.5 cm. Its specification sections give approximately 2.48–3 kg, so treat the weight as a range rather than a single precise measurement. That mass favors lap stability but is less convenient for travel than a thin leverless pad.

PS5 adapter caveat
Firmware notes identify compatibility with the MagicBoots-S5 adapter. The correct conclusion is “PS5 possible with the specified adapter,” not “native PS5 support.” Check that the adapter is current and supported for the game and console firmware you use. If you want the fewest authentication variables, a native PS5 model is simpler.
PlayStation and PC options from the dated comparison
PCGamesN’s comparison names three models relevant to PlayStation users. Because its recommendations are dated, use them as model-level leads, not proof that every current retail package has the same console license.
Qanba N3 Drone 2
PCGamesN lists the N3 Drone 2 as a budget pick for PS5, PS4 and PC. That makes it the first model to investigate when PlayStation compatibility matters more than Switch support. The comparison does not establish its dimensions, battery, switch type or connection modes, so confirm those details in the current regional listing before buying.
HORI Fighting Stick Alpha
The Alpha is described as a wired stick available in PC, PlayStation and Xbox-oriented versions. Wired operation suits a permanent desk or tournament-style setup. Match the console edition to your hardware; a PlayStation-branded version should not be assumed to authenticate on Xbox, and vice versa.

Wired, 2.4G or Bluetooth?
Wired USB
Wired operation is the dependable default for a fixed setup: no battery charging, no pairing process and no receiver to misplace. It is also the connection type documented for the F500 V2 and the PlayStation-oriented models above. The trade-off is cable management and less freedom to move the controller.
2.4G wireless
2.4G uses a dedicated receiver, so it is usually simpler to reconnect than Bluetooth once the receiver is inserted. The 8BitDo Arcade Stick and Arcade Controller rate their longest battery life on 2.4G: up to 40 hours for the stick. Keep the receiver with the controller when traveling.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is convenient for Switch and PC devices that already have wireless support. The Arcade Stick’s listed Bluetooth runtime is up to 30 hours. Wireless convenience does not change console authentication: a controller that excludes PS5 over USB also excludes it over Bluetooth.

For any model without published dimensions in the comparison, inspect the current manufacturer or retailer specification before buying a case. A replacement button set, gate, cable or carrying case is useful only when its size, connector and console adapter match the exact controller revision. Do not assume parts from one brand or model family fit another.
How to connect and configure each platform
Switch with an 8BitDo controller
- Charge the controller if you intend to use Bluetooth or 2.4G, or connect its USB-C cable for immediate wired power.

Windows with the F500 V2
- Connect the USB cable and select XInput first for a modern Windows game.
- If the game does not detect the controller, switch to DInput and restart or rescan the game’s controller menu.
- Test the D-pad/analog selector and leave it on the mode the game recognizes as directional input.
- Map only the buttons the game needs; avoid relying on turbo for normal Street Fighter II play.
PlayStation
- Confirm the exact console edition before connecting; model names alone do not guarantee PS4 or PS5 authentication.

Final decision
Buy the 8BitDo Arcade Stick when your real requirement is a traditional, wireless-capable controller for Switch and Windows. Pick the 8BitDo Arcade Controller when you specifically want a thin all-button layout and are comfortable learning leverless movement. Choose the MAYFLASH F500 V2 for a wired setup spanning Switch, PC, PS4 and other listed systems, remembering that PS5 requires MagicBoots-S5. If PlayStation is the priority, investigate the Qanba N3 Drone 2, the correctly licensed HORI Fighting Stick Alpha or the matching-console Victrix Pro KO edition, and verify the current model before checkout.
