Best overall alternative: Razer Orochi V2. It is explicitly designed as a compact wireless gaming mouse, weighs less than 60 g before its battery, and offers both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz HyperSpeed. The ASUS mouse often described as the “TUF Gaming Mini Wireless” is the ASUS TUF Gaming M4 Wireless, a 126 × 63.5 × 39.6 mm mouse whose carry weight varies from 62 g without a battery and dongle to 86 g with an AA cell. Orochi V2 is the closest replacement when a smaller, lighter wireless shell matters most; the Logitech G305 is the battery-life and value pick, SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless adds dual-wireless flexibility at 68 g, and Razer Cobra is the compact wired option.

What the ASUS TUF Gaming M4 Wireless baseline looks like

Choosing an alternative is easier when the reference mouse is measured consistently. ASUS lists the TUF Gaming M4 Wireless at 126 × 63.5 × 39.6 mm. Those figures describe the shell, not the complete ready-to-carry setup. ASUS gives three relevant weights:

  • 62 g for the mouse without a battery or dongle.
  • 77 g with the AAA converter holder.
  • 86 g with an AA battery.

The M4 Wireless uses a 12,000 DPI sensor, has six buttons, and connects over Bluetooth 5.1 or 2.4 GHz radio. It accepts either AA or AAA batteries. That makes it flexible for travel, but the battery choice changes the balance and the amount of weight you move during play. Any comparison with a quoted “mouse weight” must therefore state whether the battery is included.

Best alternatives at a glance

Mouse Best for Published size or weight Wireless and power Main compromise
Razer Orochi V2 Closest compact wireless replacement Under 60 g, excluding battery Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz HyperSpeed; up to 1,100 hours on Bluetooth or 445 hours on HyperSpeed with an AA lithium battery Battery weight still changes the feel; its small shell may not suit a large-hand palm grip
Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED Value and long battery life Mouse dimensions and small-hand classification not stated on the cited Logitech page 2.4 GHz LIGHTSPEED; claimed 250-hour battery life Choose by shape and grip rather than assuming it is a small-hand mouse
SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless (2022) Low weight with two wireless modes 68 g; 120.55 × 67.03 × 37.98 mm 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth 5.0; claimed 200-hour battery life Its 67.03 mm maximum width is broader than the M4 Wireless’s 63.5 mm
Razer Cobra Compact wired gaming 58 g Wired USB connection; no battery A cable is required

There is no manufacturer-published hand-length cutoff that universally defines “small hands” for these models. Dimensions, hump height, button reach and grip style all affect comfort, so treat the recommendations below as fit guidance from published specifications, not a controlled comfort test.

1. Razer Orochi V2: the closest wireless match

Razer positions the Orochi V2 as a compact, ultra-lightweight wireless gaming mouse. Its published design weight is under 60 g before the battery is installed, making the bare mouse lighter than the M4 Wireless’s 62 g battery-free figure. It supports both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz HyperSpeed, and it has six programmable buttons.

Battery modes and real carry weight

With one AA lithium battery, Razer rates the Orochi V2 for up to 1,100 hours in Bluetooth mode or 445 hours in HyperSpeed mode. These are manufacturer battery-life claims, not a guarantee for every battery type or usage pattern. The battery is part of the moving mass, so the mouse will not feel like a sub-60 g device once a cell is fitted. Compare the complete setup with the M4 Wireless’s 77 g AAA-holder or 86 g AA configurations, rather than comparing shell-only figures.

Who should choose it

Orochi V2 is the strongest starting point for a small-hand claw or fingertip player who wants wireless operation and minimal shell mass. Those grip descriptions are fit considerations, not rules: a large hand that prefers a full palm contact area may find a compact shell less supportive. Check the return policy and test whether your thumb reaches the side buttons without twisting your wrist.

2. Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED: value with a 250-hour claim

Logitech describes the G305 LIGHTSPEED as a wireless gaming mouse for serious performance, with a stated 250-hour battery life, a HERO sensor, 200–12,000 DPI adjustment and claimed 1 ms LIGHTSPEED wireless. The cited Logitech specification does not publish a small-hand classification, so it should not be presented as automatically smaller or more comfortable than the ASUS.

When its shape makes sense

Pick the G305 when long battery intervals and a conventional 2.4 GHz gaming connection matter more than the lightest possible shell. Before buying, compare its physical dimensions from the retailer or regional Logitech listing you are using with the M4 Wireless’s 63.5 mm width and 126 mm length. Pay particular attention to where the widest part sits: a mouse can have a similar maximum width but feel different if that width is near the palm rather than the fingertips.

What the published specification does and does not establish

  • Established: HERO sensing, 200–12,000 DPI range, claimed 1 ms LIGHTSPEED wireless and 250-hour battery life.
  • Not established by the cited page: a universal “small hands” fit, a hand-length cutoff or a directly comparable shell-size ranking against the M4 Wireless.

3. SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless (2022): light and dual-wireless

The Aerox 3 Wireless (2022) weighs 68 g and measures 120.55 × 67.03 × 37.98 mm. It offers 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.0, with a claimed 200-hour battery life. SteelSeries says its super-light design supports quicker movements and larger swipes; that is a design rationale, not a measured advantage for every player.

The width issue for narrow hands

At 67.03 mm at its widest point, Aerox 3 Wireless is 3.53 mm wider than the M4 Wireless’s listed 63.5 mm width. It is also 5.45 mm shorter and 1.62 mm lower than the ASUS dimensions. The lower height and shorter length may help some claw grips, but the extra width can force a narrow hand to spread farther around the shell. Measure the width of a mouse that already feels comfortable and compare the widest point, not just the headline length.

When to pick it

Choose Aerox 3 Wireless if Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz flexibility are important and 68 g is light enough for your sensitivity and swipe style. It is not the safest choice for someone whose primary complaint about the M4 Wireless is width; the published numbers point in the opposite direction.

4. Razer Cobra: compact without battery management

Razer describes the Cobra as a right-handed symmetrical compact form factor. It weighs 58 g and uses an 8,500 DPI sensor. Because it is wired, there is no battery, charging schedule or wireless receiver to carry.

Why wired can be the better small-hand choice

A 58 g mouse that remains 58 g in use can feel more predictable than a battery mouse whose balance changes with AA or AAA cells. The trade-off is cable drag and the need to keep the USB cable connected. A good cable-management position matters: route the cable toward the front of the desk, leave enough slack for your highest-sensitivity swipe, and avoid letting it pull sideways on the mouse.

Best use case

Cobra is a credible alternative when compact dimensions and low weight matter more than wireless convenience. Its right-handed symmetrical shape does not make it ambidextrous; left-handed users should verify button placement before purchase.

How to choose for small hands and claw grip

Start with width, not just length

Small-hand comfort is often limited by how far the thumb and ring finger must spread. The M4 Wireless is 63.5 mm wide; Aerox 3 Wireless reaches 67.03 mm. A few millimetres can matter when your fingers already contact the desk or side edge. Record the maximum width and where it occurs, because two shells with the same maximum can produce different contact points.

Match the shell to your grip

  • Claw grip: a shorter shell and a rear hump that supports the back of the palm can let the fingertips control the buttons. Orochi V2’s compact positioning makes it the first model to investigate, but the final fit depends on your hand and hump preference.
  • Fingertip grip: low moving weight and a shell that does not force your palm down are useful. Orochi V2 or Cobra are the lightest published choices here, while Aerox 3 Wireless adds dual-wireless options at 68 g.
  • Palm grip: length and hump support become more important than a low weight number. A compact mouse can leave the heel of a larger hand unsupported, so do not select Orochi V2 solely because it is light.

Use your current mouse as a physical reference

  1. Measure your comfortable mouse’s maximum width, overall length and height with a ruler or the manufacturer’s specification.
  2. Note where your thumb rests and whether your ring finger rubs the desk or shell edge.
  3. Compare those contact points with the published dimensions above; prioritize width if your fingers feel stretched.
  4. Check the retailer’s return terms before opening the package, since no universal hand-size formula predicts comfort.

Wireless choice: Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz?

2.4 GHz receiver mode

Use the included 2.4 GHz receiver for gaming when the mouse supports it. The M4 Wireless, Orochi V2 and Aerox 3 Wireless all provide a 2.4 GHz option; the G305 uses Logitech LIGHTSPEED 2.4 GHz. Logitech’s cited specification states 1 ms LIGHTSPEED wireless for the G305. Keep the receiver close to the mouse with a short extension if your desktop or computer case places the USB port far away.

Bluetooth mode

Bluetooth is useful for laptops, tablets and travel because it avoids occupying a USB port. Orochi V2 supports Bluetooth as well as HyperSpeed, and Aerox 3 Wireless supports Bluetooth 5.0 as well as 2.4 GHz. The ASUS supports Bluetooth 5.1. Switch to the receiver mode when you want the gaming-oriented radio connection; use Bluetooth when convenience and battery endurance are more important.

Wired operation

Cobra removes wireless pairing and battery decisions entirely, but its cable becomes part of the fit. If cable drag changes your aim, reposition the cable or use a holder so it approaches the mouse in a straight, low-friction line.

Battery, weight and travel considerations

Model Published power information What changes in use
ASUS TUF Gaming M4 Wireless AA or AAA; 62 g without battery and dongle, 77 g with AAA holder, 86 g with AA Battery type changes total mass substantially
Razer Orochi V2 Up to 1,100 Bluetooth hours or 445 HyperSpeed hours with an AA lithium battery Battery adds weight to a shell rated under 60 g without it
Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED Claimed 250-hour battery life Long intervals between changes, but the cited page does not establish small-hand fit
SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless (2022) Claimed 200-hour battery life 68 g shell with both wireless modes
Razer Cobra No battery; wired USB Constant weight, with cable management required

Battery-hour figures are manufacturer claims and vary with radio mode, battery type and usage. They are useful for planning, not a promise that every unit will run for exactly that duration.

Which alternative should you buy?

  • Choose Razer Orochi V2 for the closest compact wireless substitute, especially if you use claw or fingertip control and want both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz.
  • Choose Logitech G305 when the 250-hour claim, HERO sensor and LIGHTSPEED connection outweigh the lack of a manufacturer-stated small-hand classification.
  • Choose SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless for 68 g, Bluetooth 5.0 and 2.4 GHz flexibility, provided its 67.03 mm width will not feel too broad.
  • Choose Razer Cobra when a 58 g compact shell is more valuable than wireless operation.

For most readers specifically replacing the ASUS TUF Gaming M4 Wireless because it feels too large or heavy, start with the Orochi V2. Compare the complete ready-to-use weight, including its battery, and verify the shell width against your current mouse before committing.

Common fit and setup problems

“The mouse is light on paper but still feels heavy.”

Check whether the quoted number excludes the battery. The M4 Wireless can be 62 g without a cell but 86 g with an AA battery; Orochi V2’s under-60 g figure also excludes its battery. Re-test with the exact battery installed and note whether the balance shifts toward the rear.

“My fingers feel stretched even though the length is shorter.”

Measure width and the location of the widest point. Aerox 3 Wireless is shorter than the M4 Wireless but wider at 67.03 mm, so a shorter length does not guarantee a narrower feel.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“Bluetooth works, but gaming feels inconsistent.”

Pair the mouse in 2.4 GHz receiver mode for play when that mode is available. Keep the receiver close and avoid hiding it behind a metal PC case or hub crowded with other wireless devices.

“The wired Cobra catches on the desk.”

Reduce cable slack, route it straight toward the front edge and raise the cable near the mouse so it does not scrape the desk. If cable management remains distracting, a dual-mode wireless model is a better match.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Razer Orochi V2 smaller than the ASUS TUF Gaming M4 Wireless?

Razer explicitly calls the Orochi V2 compact and publishes a sub-60 g shell weight, while ASUS publishes the M4 Wireless at 126 × 63.5 × 39.6 mm. The cited specifications do not provide a complete Orochi V2 dimension set here, so a precise length-or-width claim cannot be made from these figures alone. Its compact positioning and lower shell weight make it the closest practical alternative, but verify the actual dimensions for your region before ordering.

Can I use an AAA battery in the Orochi V2?

The published Orochi V2 battery-life figures are specified with one AA lithium battery. Do not assume the M4 Wireless’s AA/AAA compatibility transfers to another model; follow the battery type and holder supplied by the mouse manufacturer.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does a higher DPI make a mouse better for small hands?

No. DPI is sensor sensitivity, not physical fit. The M4 Wireless reaches 12,000 DPI, the G305 lists 200–12,000 DPI, and the Cobra lists an 8,500 DPI sensor, but comfort is driven by shell dimensions, button reach, weight and grip.

Are replacement PTFE feet worth considering?

Replacement PTFE feet can change glide after the original feet wear, but compatibility is model-specific. Check that a set explicitly supports the exact ASUS, Razer or Cobra model before buying; do not use a generic size assumption.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Razer Orochi V2 smaller than the ASUS TUF Gaming M4 Wireless?

Razer calls Orochi V2 compact and lists it under 60 g without a battery, but the available specifications here do not include its full dimensions. It is the closest compact alternative, though you should verify regional dimensions before ordering.

Can I use an AAA battery in the Orochi V2?

The cited Orochi V2 battery figures use one AA lithium battery. Use only the battery type and holder specified by Razer; the M4 Wireless’s AA/AAA support does not imply compatibility with another mouse.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does higher DPI make a mouse better for small hands?

No. DPI affects sensitivity, while fit depends on width, length, height, button reach, weight and grip.

Are replacement PTFE feet compatible across these mice?

Compatibility is model-specific. Buy feet that explicitly name the exact ASUS, Razer or Cobra model.
