Best overall alternative: Ring Battery Doorbell 2K (2nd Gen) is the closest replacement for the Arlo Video Doorbell 2K when you want square 2K video and a very wide view. It records at 1920 × 1920 with a 173-degree diagonal field of view (140 degrees horizontally and vertically), and its rechargeable battery can also be trickle-charged through compatible 8–24 VAC wiring.
Best for packages and no required subscription: eufy Security Video Doorbell E340 adds a dedicated downward-facing camera, 8 GB of onboard storage and battery or wired installation. Its second lens is more useful for seeing parcels on the ground than simply choosing a doorbell with a larger diagonal field-of-view number.
Google Nest Doorbell is the sensible choice for a Google Home household, while Ring Wired Doorbell 2K (2nd Gen) suits locations with dependable low-voltage wiring where continuous power matters more than battery flexibility.

The Arlo Video Doorbell 2K (2nd Generation) combines a square image with a very wide perspective. Arlo’s 2026 specification sheet lists a 180-degree diagonal field of view, while its 2025 FAQ gives the output as 1944 × 1944 pixels. The square frame keeps more of a visitor’s body and the doorstep in one shot than a conventional wide landscape frame.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That combination creates four separate requirements for a replacement:
- Resolution: “2K” is not one fixed pixel count. Check the actual width and height.
- Shape: A square or near-square frame can show head-to-toe context and more of the area immediately below the camera.
- Coverage: Diagonal, horizontal and vertical field-of-view figures measure different things and cannot be compared as if they were interchangeable.
- Practical visibility: A second lens aimed downward can reveal a package that a single forward-facing camera misses, even when the latter has a larger diagonal number.
The alternatives below are therefore ranked by the problem they solve, not by one headline specification.

1. Ring Battery Doorbell 2K (2nd Gen): the closest wide-angle match
Why it is the direct replacement
Ring’s battery model is the nearest specification match to the Arlo: both use a square 2K image and a single very wide-angle camera. Ring lists 1920 × 1920 video and a 173-degree diagonal field of view. It also publishes the horizontal and vertical coverage—140 degrees each—which is more useful for planning a mounting position than a diagonal figure alone.

The Arlo’s cited 1944 × 1944 output is slightly larger in each dimension, and its 180-degree diagonal figure is wider. That does not make Ring unsuitable; it means the Ring frame is close rather than identical. At the same mounting height, the exact amount of wall, visitor and doorstep visible will depend on lens geometry and installation angle.
Power options
The integrated rechargeable battery lets you install the doorbell where no usable wiring exists. If the location has existing 8–24 VAC wiring, Ring documents a trickle-charge option, and compatible solar accessories can provide another charging route. Trickle charging is not the same as a fully wired, maintenance-free installation: the battery remains part of the system and performance depends on wiring, usage and available light.

Who should choose it
- Choose it when preserving a square 2K view is more important than adding a second camera.
- Choose it for a battery installation that may later gain low-voltage or solar-assisted charging.
- Do not choose it solely because “173 degrees” sounds comparable to another product’s number; compare the measurement type and the actual horizontal and vertical figures.
2. eufy Security Video Doorbell E340: best for packages and local recording
Two cameras solve a different coverage problem
The E340 uses a 2K main camera at 2048 × 1536 pixels plus a 1080p downward camera at 1600 × 1200 pixels. Its stated viewing angle is 160 degrees. The second lens points toward the floor, so it can show parcels placed beneath the camera that a single forward-facing lens may crop out or hide behind the visitor.
This is a different design from a single lens with an extremely large diagonal field of view. A larger diagonal number expands the scene around the camera; a downward camera deliberately allocates pixels to the doorstep. If package detection is your deciding factor, inspect the mounting height and the patch of floor visible in the live preview rather than choosing on diagonal degrees alone.

eufy specifies 8 GB of onboard storage and says recordings can be kept locally on the doorbell without a required subscription. That arrangement can reduce dependence on a recurring cloud plan, but it also makes storage management, device security and footage export your responsibility. Confirm the current retention behavior and overwrite rules in the E340’s software before relying on it for long-term evidence.
Power, night view and trade-offs
The E340 supports battery or wired power and includes color night vision. Battery operation gives more placement flexibility; wired operation avoids routine charging. The two cameras also mean two image streams to review and configure, so allow time to set motion zones and notifications for the main and downward views separately.
eufy describes the purpose of the design this way: “With two cameras, 2K HD clarity, and color night vision, blindspots cease to exist from the door to the floor.” That is a product description, not a guarantee that every installation will be blind-spot-free. Door recesses, side walls, a high mounting point or an obstructing storm door can still block part of either view.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

3. Google Nest Doorbell: best when Google Home is the priority
There is no single universal Nest specification
Google publishes specifications by model and generation rather than one set of numbers for every Nest Doorbell. Its comparison material includes current wired and battery models with different resolutions, including 2K HDR and 960p HDR variants. Field of view, power method and available features likewise depend on the exact model.
How to select the right model
- Decide whether the existing location is wired or whether you need a battery installation.
- Identify the exact generation and resolution in Google’s model comparison, rather than relying on the generic “Nest Doorbell” name.
- Check the Google Home features you need, such as notification behavior, chime compatibility and event history, against that model’s current requirements.
- Measure the doorway and doorstep. A model with a different aspect ratio may show less floor area even if its nominal resolution is higher.
Nest is the ecosystem choice, not the straightforward one-number replacement for Arlo’s 180-degree square frame. If your household already uses Google Home displays, speakers and automations, the integration can outweigh a less direct match on field-of-view figures.
4. Ring Wired Doorbell 2K (2nd Gen): best for continuous power
When wired operation is worth prioritizing
Ring lists Retinal 2K video and up to 6× enhanced zoom for its wired 2K model. It is intended for a location with dependable low-voltage doorbell wiring. Because it is fully wired, you avoid routine battery removal and charging, which is useful at a busy entrance or a rental where access to the battery compartment is inconvenient.
The cited product information does not state a field-of-view figure for this model. Do not assume that its 2K label or enhanced zoom means it has the same wide-angle coverage as the battery model. Confirm the current horizontal, vertical and diagonal measurements before buying if doorway coverage is your main criterion.
Installation checks
- Verify that the transformer and existing circuit meet the doorbell’s stated low-voltage requirements.
- Turn off power at the appropriate breaker before handling the wiring.
- Use the supplied mounting hardware and check that the camera is not aimed into a wall, overhang or bright light.
- Test live view and the chime before closing the installation.
How to compare wide-angle doorbells accurately
Resolution and aspect ratio
Read the pixel dimensions, not just the marketing label. Arlo’s cited 1944 × 1944 and Ring’s 1920 × 1920 are square frames. The E340’s 2048 × 1536 main stream is 4:3, while its downward stream is 1600 × 1200. A higher pixel count in one dimension does not automatically show more of the ground; framing and lens angle determine that.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Field-of-view terminology
A diagonal field of view combines the horizontal and vertical dimensions into one larger-looking number. For an entrance, horizontal coverage tells you how much of the approach and side walls are visible; vertical coverage tells you how much of the person and doorstep fit in frame. Compare like with like, and ask the manufacturer for missing dimensions when the product page gives only a diagonal value.
Package visibility
Packages are usually below the visitor’s face and close to the wall. A camera mounted too high or tilted outward can leave the floor outside the frame. A dedicated downward camera, as on the E340, directly addresses that geometry. With a single-lens doorbell, use the installation preview to check that a parcel placed at the expected drop point remains visible when a person is standing at the door.
Power and installation decision guide
| Your site condition | Most suitable direction | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| No usable doorbell wiring | Ring Battery Doorbell 2K or eufy E340 in battery mode | Both provide battery installation; Ring can potentially add trickle charging later, while E340 adds a downward camera. |
| Existing 8–24 VAC wiring but occasional outages or weak charging | Ring Battery Doorbell 2K with verified wiring | Its documented trickle-charge path preserves battery flexibility, but the circuit must be checked. |
| Reliable low-voltage wiring and no interest in charging | Ring Wired Doorbell 2K | Fully wired operation removes battery maintenance. |
| Google Home displays and automations are central | Exact Google Nest Doorbell model that matches the installation | Model-specific Google Home integration is the deciding factor. |
| Packages are frequently left on the ground | eufy E340 | The 1600 × 1200 downward camera is designed to cover the floor separately from the main view. |
Storage, subscriptions and footage ownership
“No subscription” can mean different things. A doorbell may record locally but still offer optional cloud history, paid notifications or account features. The E340’s cited specification is unusually clear: it has 8 GB onboard storage and does not require a subscription for local recordings. Ring and Google have changing service terms and model-dependent features, so check the current plan details for the exact doorbell and region before purchase.
For any local-storage setup, decide how you will preserve an important clip. Check whether footage can be downloaded from the app, how quickly storage overwrites older events and what happens if the doorbell is stolen or reset. For cloud-dependent history, check the retention period and whether viewing older events stops when a trial or plan ends.
Night performance, weather and smart-home compatibility
Color night vision is specifically listed for the E340. The supplied specifications do not provide a single comparable night-vision rating for every alternative, so evaluate the manufacturer’s stated night mode and weather rating for the exact model and generation. A wide lens can include a porch light or reflective siding that causes glare; mounting angle and lighting often matter as much as the sensor label.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Check compatibility with your existing chime, voice assistant and home automation platform before installation. Ring models are the natural fit for households already using Ring and Alexa-compatible routines; Nest models are designed around Google Home. The E340’s local-storage advantage does not by itself determine which chime or assistant integrations are available.
Installation and verification checklist
- Measure the mounting point. Record the camera height, distance to the threshold and the likely parcel drop zone.
- Confirm power. For wired models, verify the transformer and voltage. For battery models, ensure the battery can be removed or charged without damaging the mount.
- Set the camera angle. Keep faces in the useful portion of the frame while retaining the doorstep. Avoid aiming directly at the sky or a reflective wall.
- Configure both views. On the E340, test the main and downward cameras independently and set motion areas for each.
- Test day and night. Walk toward the door, stand at the threshold and place a parcel on the ground. Repeat after dark with porch lighting on.
- Check notifications and recording. Confirm that an event appears in the app, that audio works if enabled and that a clip can be retrieved or downloaded.
- Review privacy boundaries. Mask neighboring doors, windows or public areas where the app provides privacy zones.
Which alternative should you buy?
Choose Ring Battery Doorbell 2K (2nd Gen) for the closest match
It is the best starting point when the defining requirements are a square 2K image, very broad coverage and battery installation. Its 1920 × 1920 frame and 173-degree diagonal view are close to Arlo’s square 1944 × 1944 and 180-degree diagonal specifications, while the 140-degree horizontal and vertical figures make its coverage easier to evaluate.
Choose eufy E340 for parcels and local storage
Select it when the practical question is “Will I see what was left on the floor, and can I record without a required subscription?” Its dedicated downward camera, 8 GB onboard storage, battery or wired power and color night vision address those needs directly.

Choose Ring Wired Doorbell 2K for maintenance-free power
Pick the wired model when reliable low-voltage wiring is already present and battery charging would be an unnecessary chore. Verify its current field-of-view data if wide-angle coverage is non-negotiable, because the cited product information does not establish a matching angle.
