The right accessory depends on the video output of your host device. A phone, tablet, laptop or handheld with USB-C DisplayPort output can connect directly with a full-featured USB-C cable. A PlayStation, Xbox or computer that exposes video only through HDMI needs a powered HDMI-to-USB-C adapter. Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED and Switch 2 require the XREAL Hub. Prescription wearers need the dedicated One Pro inserts rather than assuming older Air-series lenses will fit. Beam Pro is optional: it adds a host and convenience features, but it is not required for a direct USB-C connection.
This guide uses “One Pro” for the glasses identified in XREAL’s current product and support material. If a retailer or bundle calls your package “One Pro Plus,” check the model printed on the glasses and the product box before buying accessories; the fit and connection advice below is for the One Pro hardware.

At the listed US prices captured in 2026, One Pro Prescription Lenses were $59.90, the XREAL Hub was $39.99, and Beam Pro started at $199. Prices, stock and regional availability can change, so treat those figures as the cited listings rather than permanent prices.
Before you buy: identify the connection and fit requirements
Check the source port, not just the connector shape
USB-C describes a physical plug, not a guaranteed video standard. For a direct connection, the source port must carry DisplayPort video (often called DisplayPort Alt Mode) and provide enough power for the glasses. A USB-C port used only for charging, USB data or a proprietary docking function cannot send an image merely because the plug fits.

HDMI is different: it carries video but not the USB-C power path the glasses expect. That is why a console or computer with HDMI needs an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter, and why a powered model is the safer choice. The adapter must convert the signal as well as route power; a passive cable with an HDMI plug on one end and USB-C on the other is not an equivalent substitute.
Confirm the glasses model before ordering inserts
The One Pro package supplies a prescription frame without lenses. Order inserts made for One Pro, and enter your prescription exactly as written by your optometrist. XREAL’s current insert listing provides 1.67 and 1.6 index choices, standard or blue-light-blocking lens types, sphere, cylinder and axis fields, and an IPD entry.
Do not treat older Air-series inserts as interchangeable. XREAL’s One-series FAQ says One lenses can be used with 1S, while the catalog lists One Pro lenses separately from One and 1S lenses. That distinction means an insert that happens to look similar may have the wrong attachment geometry or optical position for One Pro.

Prescription inserts: what to order and how to avoid a mismatch
What is included and what is not
Inside the One Pro package is a frame intended to hold prescription optics. It is not a finished pair of prescription lenses. If you need vision correction, you must have lenses made for that frame and model. The dedicated XREAL One Pro Prescription Lenses listing showed a $59.90 price in the 2026 US Shop crawl; a custom prescription can still involve different fulfillment or return conditions, so read the current order terms before submitting it.
Choose the optical index

Index is not a universal “better” rating. A higher index can make a strong prescription thinner, but material properties, frame dimensions and your prescription determine the practical benefit. If you are unsure, ask the optician filling the order which index is appropriate rather than selecting solely by price.
Enter prescription and IPD data carefully
Use the values from your current prescription for sphere, cylinder and axis, including the right-eye and left-eye designations. Enter IPD in the format the order form requests. One Pro’s stated IPD ranges are 57–66 mm for size M and 66–75 mm for size L. If your measurement sits exactly on a boundary, follow the seller’s sizing guidance or have an optician measure you; do not round a borderline value just to force a preferred size.

- Check that right and left values have not been swapped.
- Preserve the sign on sphere and cylinder values.
- Use the prescription’s axis values exactly; axis is measured in degrees.
- Confirm whether the form asks for distance, single-vision or another lens type before submitting.
- Review the final on-screen summary because custom orders may have limited changes or returns after production.
Installing the inserts
- Clean the prescription lenses and the glasses’ optical area with a suitable lens cloth.
- Seat the insert in the One Pro prescription frame according to the frame’s locating points; do not force a corner into place.
- Check that the insert is level and that it does not touch the display surfaces or obstruct the nose bridge.
- Put on the glasses and verify that the image is sharp through both eyes. If one eye is blurred, remove and reseat the insert before assuming the prescription is wrong.
USB-C cables for phones, tablets, laptops and handhelds
Use the included cable when possible
XREAL recommends the included 1.2 m cable for One-series connections. Its length is short enough to avoid a dangling loop while still reaching a pocket, handheld or laptop. The glasses have no built-in battery, so they are powered by the connected device; a cable that carries video but cannot deliver the required power can produce a black screen or repeated disconnects.
What a replacement cable must support
Buy a full-featured USB-C cable that explicitly supports DisplayPort video transmission. “USB-C” or a high USB data-speed number alone is not sufficient. Check that the cable is intended for USB-C video, that both plugs are the orientation and angle you need, and that its length will not put strain on the glasses’ connector.
- For a direct phone, tablet or laptop connection, use USB-C at both ends with DisplayPort video support.
- A charge-only cable cannot create a video signal.
- Very long or poorly shielded cables can be less reliable; start with the supplied 1.2 m cable when troubleshooting.
- If the host has only USB-A, a simple USB-A-to-USB-C charging lead will not add DisplayPort video.
Direct USB-C setup
- Confirm that the host’s USB-C port supports DisplayPort video output.
- Connect the full-featured cable to the host first, then to the glasses.
- Unlock the host and select the external-display or mirroring option if it does not appear automatically.
- Keep the host connected to its charger if extended use drains its battery; the glasses themselves do not contain a battery.
- If there is no image, test the included cable and a different known-compatible USB-C video port before changing software settings.
HDMI adapters for PlayStation, Xbox and HDMI computers
Why an adapter is required
PlayStation, Xbox and many desktop computers expose video through HDMI. One Pro expects a USB-C connection carrying DisplayPort video and power, so the HDMI source needs an active HDMI-to-USB-C adapter. The adapter is a signal-conversion device, not merely a plug converter.

Choose a powered adapter
A powered HDMI-to-USB-C adapter is the safer recommendation because HDMI sources generally do not provide the power required by the glasses. Check three things in the adapter’s specifications before ordering:
- Video conversion: it must accept the HDMI output from your console or computer and produce USB-C video for the glasses.
- Power input: it should have a documented USB power connection or another method to supply the glasses and conversion electronics.
- Resolution and refresh support: it should support the mode your source will output; if the adapter lists only narrow modes, expect compatibility limits.
Because compatibility depends on the exact adapter and display mode, XREAL’s connection guidance recommends verifying both video and power compatibility. Do not assume that an adapter advertised for a monitor will necessarily work with USB-C display glasses.

HDMI console setup
- Connect the console’s HDMI output to the adapter’s HDMI input.
- Connect the adapter’s USB power lead to the specified power source.
- Connect the adapter’s USB-C output to the One Pro using the supplied or another full-featured cable if the adapter requires a separate cable.
- Turn on the console and select a supported output mode if the adapter documentation calls for one.
- If the image remains blank, test power first, then reduce the console’s output mode to a standard resolution or refresh rate supported by the adapter.
For a laptop with both HDMI and USB-C video, use the USB-C video port directly when it works. That removes one conversion stage and usually makes the setup smaller. Keep the HDMI adapter for devices whose HDMI port is the only video output.

Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED and Switch 2: use the XREAL Hub
XREAL’s connection guide specifically states that Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and Switch OLED require the XREAL Hub. The official store listing showed the Hub at $39.99 in the 2026 crawl. It is the model-specific solution for the console’s power and video connection; a generic USB-C cable does not replace it.
Switch setup
- Connect the Hub to the Switch console or the console’s supported connection point as directed by its labeling.
- Attach the console’s power source to the Hub’s power input.
- Connect the One Pro to the Hub’s glasses output with a full-featured USB-C cable.
- Wake the console and wait for the external display signal.
- If the display does not appear, confirm that the console is receiving power through the Hub and reseat every USB-C connection.
The Hub is the accessory to choose when Switch compatibility is the goal. An HDMI adapter may be useful for other consoles, but it does not remove the Switch-specific requirement identified in XREAL’s guide.
Beam Pro: optional host, not a mandatory adapter
Beam Pro is a separate host and convenience upgrade for One Pro. XREAL listed a starting price of $199 for Beam Pro and also offered a One Pro plus Beam Pro bundle. Its role is different from a cable, Hub or HDMI adapter: it can serve as the device running the content and handling the glasses connection, while a direct USB-C phone, tablet or laptop connection already provides a host.
When Beam Pro makes sense
- You want a dedicated device for the glasses instead of leaving a phone or laptop attached.
- You prefer a portable host with its own battery and controls for travel or media use.
- You want the One Pro experience packaged with a matching host rather than assembling adapters for several source devices.
When you can skip it
You do not need Beam Pro simply to connect a compatible USB-C DisplayPort device. For a direct phone, tablet, laptop or other supported host, the glasses and a suitable cable are enough. It also does not replace the need for a powered HDMI adapter when your source has only HDMI, nor does it change the Switch requirement for the XREAL Hub.

Troubleshooting by symptom
Black screen on a USB-C device
- Verify that the exact USB-C port supports DisplayPort video.
- Swap in the included 1.2 m cable.
- Disconnect docks, hubs and other USB-C accessories temporarily so the glasses are connected directly.
- Charge the host and retry; the glasses draw power from it.
Black screen through HDMI
- Confirm that the adapter is an active HDMI-to-USB-C video adapter, not a passive cable.
- Connect the adapter’s required USB power source.
- Check the console or computer’s output mode against the adapter’s supported modes.
- Try another HDMI output or display to isolate a source-device problem.
Switch does not display
- Use the XREAL Hub; the Switch family is not a direct-cable exception.
- Confirm the Hub and console are receiving power.
- Reseat the Hub at both the console and glasses sides.
- Test with the console awake and its normal docked-display behavior enabled.
Prescription image is uncomfortable or misaligned
- Check that the insert is the One Pro version, not an Air-series insert.
- Reseat the frame so it is level and fully engaged.
- Recheck IPD and the right-eye/left-eye prescription entries.
- Stop using the insert and contact the seller or optician if the lens appears damaged or the prescription does not match your order.
A practical buying order
- Start with the host: list every device you intend to use and mark its video output as USB-C DisplayPort, HDMI or Switch-family.
- Buy the connection accessory: use a full-featured USB-C cable for direct DisplayPort, the XREAL Hub for Switch models, or a powered HDMI-to-USB-C adapter for HDMI sources.
- Add vision correction: order One Pro Prescription Lenses using your current prescription, IPD and chosen index or lens treatment.
- Consider Beam Pro last: add it when you specifically want a dedicated host or the convenience of a bundled setup; do not buy it to solve a cable or HDMI power problem.
- Keep the included cable: it is the baseline reference for troubleshooting any replacement cable.
What to verify at checkout
- The listing names One Pro compatibility rather than only Air-series or generic XREAL compatibility.
- A cable explicitly supports DisplayPort video over USB-C.
- An HDMI adapter documents both signal conversion and external power.
- The XREAL Hub is included or purchased separately for Switch, Switch OLED or Switch 2.
- Prescription lens fields accept your sphere, cylinder, axis and IPD values.
- Custom-lens return and remake terms are clear before you submit payment.
- The price and stock are current for your country; the $59.90 lens, $39.99 Hub and $199 Beam Pro figures are US listings captured in 2026, not guaranteed local prices.
