The Beats Studio3 Wireless is an older, bass-forward over-ear headphone with useful noise cancellation and particularly convenient pairing for Apple-device owners. Its Pure ANC can make everyday listening quieter, but independent reviews find it less effective than some alternatives, especially against low-frequency engine noise. The warm sound will suit some listeners better than others, and its micro-USB charging is dated. Whether it is worth buying depends on its actual price and condition compared with newer headphones.
What is Pure ANC, and how do you control it?
Beats describes Pure ANC as digital noise reduction: “Beats’ Active Noise Cancellation, also called Pure Adaptive Noise Cancellation (Pure ANC), reduces ambient sounds digitally.” The official quick-start guide says Pure ANC is enabled each time you power on the Studio3, reducing external noise during playback.
To switch it off while connected, double-press the power button; repeat the double-press to turn it back on. The guide says turning ANC off enables low-power mode. For wired listening, the guide specifies the included RemoteTalk cable.
Does the Beats Studio3 Wireless sound good?
Reviews describe a warm presentation with prominent bass. That can make music enjoyable for listeners who like a fuller, bass-forward sound, but it is not a neutral tuning. RTINGS found that extra bass could muddy tracks and that recessed treble could reduce vocal and instrument detail; it also noted that bass delivery can change with the fit and seal. WIRED’s reviewer also heard strong bass and warmth, but enjoyed the result. These are listening impressions, not a universal verdict.

The practical takeaway is to consider your usual genres and preference for detail. If you want restrained bass or a more even presentation, compare the Studio3 with alternatives and check whether their EQ controls let you adjust the sound to your taste.
Are Beats Studio3 noise cancelling?
Yes. Pure ANC reduces ambient sound, but review assessments do not establish the Studio3 as a class leader. Performance depends on the noise: RTINGS found it handled passenger chatter better than bus-engine rumble, and said its isolation fell short of some competitors. SoundGuys likewise judged the ANC decent but behind alternatives. WIRED’s more favorable review described effective everyday quieting, while noting that it had not directly compared the Studio3 with Bose QC35.

For commuting, think about the sound you most need to reduce. Voices and steady low-frequency vehicle rumble are different challenges, and the reviews suggest the Studio3 is less convincing against the latter. Do not assume that a favorable impression in one setting means it will block every kind of noise equally well.
How long does the Beats Studio3 Wireless battery last?
Battery life depends on whether ANC is on and on listening conditions. SoundGuys reports Beats’ claims of 22 hours with ANC enabled and 40 hours with ANC off. In its own test, SoundGuys measured 10 hours and 12 minutes with ANC on at 100% volume. That is one review test under a specified condition, not a guaranteed typical result for every listener.

Fit, pairing, and charging
RTINGS describes the fit as comfortable and stable and notes that a carrying case is supplied. WIRED’s reviewer also reported comfortable padding over extended wear. Comfort remains personal: head shape, ear shape, and fit can affect both how the headphones feel and how consistently the bass seals.
SoundGuys reports SBC and AAC Bluetooth codec support, Class 1 Bluetooth, and Apple’s W1 chip. WIRED describes W1-assisted proximity pairing and Apple-device integration. For Android, SoundGuys says pairing is through Bluetooth settings and that the Beats app may be used to toggle noise cancellation.

Charging uses micro-USB, according to SoundGuys, rather than USB-C. That is a notable age-related trade-off if your other devices use newer charging cables. SoundGuys also identifies the Studio3 as an older model, so check the feature set and condition of any listing rather than assuming it offers the connectivity or charging conveniences of newer headphones.
