Beastfolk Barber has a free demo on Steam. The demo released on August 6, 2026, and its listed minimum environments are Windows 11 64-bit and macOS Monterey. The complete game is not yet available; Steam lists its release date as “To be announced.” Official pages do not currently document local-save behavior, Steam Cloud, or transfer of demo progress to the eventual full release.
Where can you play the Beastfolk Barber demo?
The official Steam listing presents Beastfolk Barber Demo as a Free Demo with an Install Demo button. You need the Steam client and a Steam account, then you can install it from the game’s store page rather than buying the unreleased full game.
The listing identifies Safe Flight Games and GameWorks Ventures as developers and SIGONO INC. as publisher. The demo’s release date is August 6, 2026. A Steam Community announcement also states that the free demo is available now, so the listing is not merely a coming-soon signup page.

Installation steps
- Open the Steam store and search for Beastfolk Barber Demo, making sure the result is the demo rather than the separate full-game listing.
- Choose Install Demo. Steam will show the required download space and let you select a library drive.
- Accept the installation location, wait for the download to finish, and launch it from your Steam Library.
- If the title does not appear in your library after installation, restart Steam and check that you selected the demo app, not only the full game’s wishlist page.
Which platforms and specifications are listed?
Steam lists one Windows target and one Mac target for the demo. These are the minimum environments shown on the store page, not a guarantee of identical performance on every machine. The page lists 8 GB of RAM and 2 GB of available storage for the minimum configurations.

The store information does not establish a separate Intel-versus-Apple-silicon requirement, a supported graphics-card list, a frame-rate target, or a Windows 10 build. If your Mac cannot run macOS Monterey or your PC cannot run 64-bit Windows 11, the published requirements do not promise support.
Is Beastfolk Barber on Mac?
Yes, the demo’s Steam requirements list macOS Monterey. That is the relevant evidence for Mac access; it does not mean every older Mac qualifies, because the page does not list hardware models, processor generations, or graphics requirements. Check your Mac’s operating system in Apple menu → About This Mac before downloading and leave at least 2 GB of free space, plus additional room for normal system overhead.
What languages are available?
The Steam listing names English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese for the interface and subtitles. It does not claim additional subtitle or voice languages, so treat those four as the documented language choices rather than assuming full voice localization.

What kind of game is the demo?
The official description calls Beastfolk Barber “a narrative game where every haircut is a conversation.” You play Freddie, who operates a small salon serving beastfolk. Hair styling is the visible activity, but the larger loop connects each cut to dialogue, customer reactions, and continuing personal stories.

The description adds a supernatural objective: a demon appears in Freddie’s mirror and offers to undo a past regret in exchange for a perfect haircut. Freddie must continue serving customers while gathering resources, so the demo combines personal drama with a light management structure instead of presenting haircuts as a purely cosmetic minigame.
Where does it take place?
PC Gamer’s August 17, 2026 preview places Freddie’s salon in Starfish City. That preview ended before the reviewer completed the longer progression objective, which indicates that the available demo is an introduction rather than a complete account of the game’s eventual arc. It should not be read as confirmation of the full game’s length or final story scope.
Does the Beastfolk Barber demo save your progress?
Save behavior is undocumented in the official pages reviewed. They do not state whether the demo creates local save files, supports Steam Cloud, or preserves progress after uninstalling and reinstalling. You should therefore avoid treating a completed session as safely backed up.
Practical precautions
- Do not uninstall the demo until you have finished any playthrough you care about.
- Do not assume that installing on a second computer will restore progress through Steam Cloud.
- Keep the same Steam account and installation if you want to minimize the chance of losing an undocumented local save.
- Watch the game’s Steam announcements and updated store information for a specific save-system statement before changing devices or resetting your computer.
These precautions are not evidence that the demo definitely lacks saves. They reflect the narrower fact that the available official descriptions do not explain how saves work.

Can demo progress transfer to the full game?
No transfer policy has been announced. The full-game Steam page does not document a demo-to-full save import, and it lists the release date as To be announced. Until the developer publishes an explicit compatibility statement, assume that demo progress may not carry over.
A future transfer system could require the demo and full game to use the same Steam account, a particular save location, or a specific demo build. None of those conditions is confirmed, so do not make a purchase or delay a reinstall on the expectation of an import feature.
When is the full game coming out?
There is no announced release date. Steam marks the full game as not yet available and uses the wording To be announced. That status is different from a dated early-access launch or a pre-order window: there is currently no public day, month, or year to plan around.
The August 6, 2026 demo release shows that a playable preview exists, but a demo date does not establish the schedule for the finished product. Follow the official Steam listing and developer announcements for any change rather than relying on an inferred timetable.

Is Beastfolk Barber compatible with Steam Deck?
Steam Deck compatibility is currently marked Unknown on the full-game page. That label is not a performance rating and does not mean the game has been tested and rejected; it means the store does not provide a verified or playable classification to rely on.
The Windows and macOS requirements also cannot be converted into a Deck recommendation. Steam Deck runs a Linux-based operating system and may depend on a compatibility layer, controller support, text readability, and launcher behavior that the PC minimum specifications do not address. If you own a Deck, wait for a developer update or an official Steam compatibility result before buying the unreleased game. For the free demo, any installation or play experience should be treated as experimental rather than guaranteed support.

Should you install the demo now?
