What should I know before starting?
- You are not expected to fight. Survive by running, crouching, hiding, and reading enemy patterns. Detection is often fatal.
- Keep momentum. Run-ups matter for power jumps, and collapsing boards often require an immediate second jump.
- Think in depth as well as height. Adjust Ayasa’s position toward or away from the camera when a jump or interaction seems inexplicably out of reach.

Important prompt mismatch: Andrew Brown’s January 2026 review for Play Critically reported that the game supports PlayStation and Xbox controllers but displays PlayStation prompts regardless of the connected controller. How do I get through the opening forest?

- Move right after the opening scene. Follow the path into the forest. When the shadow monster with huge arms begins chasing Ayasa, keep running. Stopping gives it time to grab her.
- Cross the wooden bridge. Continue forward; the monster drops away at the bridge. Jump over the first fallen tree, then hold crouch to crawl under the second.
- Cross the shallow water and climb the platforms. Use ordinary jumps to reach the higher ground. When you encounter the large wooden crate, hold RB to push it where needed.
- Take a run-up for the first major gap. Walkthroughs describe using the crate near the edge and pressing L + X for a larger jump. They also report that the crate is optional: a clean run-up and power jump can reach the wooden platform without it. The board collapses, so jump again immediately after landing.
- Crouch past the mouse. If the mouse notices Ayasa, it chases and kills her quickly. Stay low and move through the safe route rather than trying to outrun it.
- Crawl through the hollow beams. Continue past the dead elephant until you reach a glowing plant. Interact with it to unlock a new ability, then return along the route.
- Climb the ladder and leave by boat. A later ladder uses RB + L. At the forest’s end, push the small boat into the sea and ride it to the next area.
Expect retries at the canyon and collapsing board. The key is to preserve momentum and check Ayasa’s depth when a jump appears aligned but does not connect. Water-jump failures return her to a nearby checkpoint after a short load, according to Play Critically’s review.
How do the light and special abilities work?
Light reveals paths, activates ancient machines, and pushes back darkness. Powers unlock in the lands of Faith, Hope, and Love, but walkthroughs do not establish a complete official list of ability names or a one-to-one mapping between every power and those lands.
The most frequently described ability is rebuilding: Ayasa can restore certain broken objects, from passages and staircases to larger structures. Walkthroughs call the action “Reset” or “rebuild,” and use RT on an Xbox-style controller. It is used to recreate an abandoned path in the Flower Area, restore structures in Ritual Town, and reconstruct a door in the Lab. Not every pile of rubble is interactive, and the game may not highlight valid targets. If a press does nothing, reposition and try the same structure again; Play Critically’s reviewer reported needing a second attempt on a collapsed arch.
Walkthroughs and the Play Critically review also describe invisibility and other magical or psychic interactions. Invisibility is useful in some Factory sections, but it is not a guaranteed cloak: the review found it ineffective against most patrols until the last group before the city’s edge. In the Lab, the monster marked with a brain sign can see Ayasa even while she is using stealth. Run and use gaps in the route instead of relying on invisibility there.

Use the ability the space is teaching rather than treating every obstacle as a combat encounter. A broken road may call for rebuilding; a patrol may call for patience and crouching; a light-sensitive mechanism may need illumination. The game offers no dialogue hint system, so watch the environment for repeated shapes, symbols, routes, and timing patterns.
How do I solve the first major puzzles?
The puzzles use observable clues: matching marks, levers, moving platforms, valves, timing, and unlocked abilities. These route-order solutions cover the main beginner sticking points described by walkthroughs.
1. Crate and power-jump gap in the forest
Push the crate with RB if it helps create a launch point, then take a run-up and use L + X. The crate is not mandatory according to two walkthroughs, but the run-up is. Once Ayasa lands on the collapsing board, jump again without waiting.
2. Fruit in the well
In the Flower Area/city route, a creature in a well blocks the way with its arms. Pick fruit from the tree behind Ayasa and throw it into the well; the creature drops and the route opens. Ground traps and a swinging plank follow, and falling onto the traps is instantly fatal, so look at the landing path before committing to a jump.
3. Slow lifts and unmarked levers in Ritual Town
Stand next to the lever and use the context action, even if no highlight appears. The lift takes several seconds to arrive, so activate it, then sprint and jump aboard. Later, call the same lift to the opposite side to open a blocked route. Do not assume the lift is broken just because it moves slowly.
4. Purple symbol boxes in Ritual Town
Drag each purple box onto the floor mark with the same symbol. The marks are a matching puzzle: a floor symbol shaped like a “U” takes the box marked with a “U.” When enough boxes are placed correctly, energy appears and a cutscene lifts Ayasa on a huge cube. Two walkthroughs agree on this solution. An optional interaction with an elderly couple at a glowing tree, described as the “Blessing of the Ancestors,” is a story beat rather than a requirement for solving the boxes.
5. The 6:45 clock puzzle
When you reach the huge clock on the left, the safe drop is onto the clock hand or needle, not directly to the floor. Approach the first cloak or cape and use the magic/ability to set the clock to 6:45. Jump to the larger needle or arrow, then drop down. Afterward, push a pillar to create a downward route, ride the slopes, and wait for the wooden planks to cross the river. Two walkthroughs independently give 6:45 as the solution.

6. Water-tunnel valves in the Lab
The water is flowing too fast to enter the tunnel. Turn left to the pipe and rotate its wheel fully, then close every valve until the flow stops. Enter the tunnel on the right and jump onto the platform at the end; it rises and carries Ayasa into the Lab.

7. The Lab’s electric machine and gas valves
At the electric machine, press the button and rotate the central valve so the electrical discharge activates the mechanisms. Later, a poisonous-gas chase requires closing valves as Ayasa uses rising platforms. The route includes a fourth valve reached by sliding quickly through a gap, followed by more valves to the left and right. Treat this as a spatial route, not a keypad sequence: follow the platforms and openings rather than looking for numbered controls. A nearby monster marked with a brain can see through stealth, so escape by running and dropping through gaps.
For a separate boiler-room bank of unlabeled wall buttons, Play Critically describes pressing them from left to right to disable the furnaces. That is a useful first pattern to try when buttons are presented as an unlabeled row, but it is not the order for the Lab’s gas valves.
8. Factory gates, fire floors, and three valves
Use wall buttons to raise locked gates. At floor-fire jets, wait for a pause in the flames, then run across. Climb the small ladder and turn off all three valves; go to the electrical machine, then return and rotate those valves again to continue. Use invisibility where it helps, and take cover behind crates when the route provides it. After a large jump across a gap, stairs may look blocked; the walkthrough describes a detour, so check the route rather than immediately assuming the game has soft-locked.

9. Compassion interactions that also affect the route
Some actions have both a mechanical and a moral role. In Ritual Town, hugging a flower raises Ayasa and helps her cross a bridge in the burning city. Elsewhere, interacting with a glowing plant, offering fruit, or rebuilding a path can be part of the route and may also express compassion. Solve the immediate obstacle first, but remember that the game says acts of compassion or indifference can affect how the journey ends.
How should I handle stealth and enemies?
Do not plan to fight the enemies. The intended responses are to keep moving, crouch, hide, or use an ability when it suits the encounter.
- Shadow monster: run through chase sections and rebuild a broken road when the route demands it. Stopping during the forest chase lets its arms catch Ayasa.
- Mouse and small patrols: hold crouch and move carefully. Detection can trigger a lethal chase.
- One-eyed indoor monster: crouch behind tables and boxes, then move when it looks away. A scripted grab followed by a stranger’s rescue cutscene at the doorway is part of the scene, not necessarily a failed stealth attempt.
- Ritual Town patrols: wait for an enemy to bend or crouch, then sneak past; cloaks provide cover. Shambling figures fold in half on a cycle, creating a brief opportunity to move.
- Factory crowds: combine cover with invisibility where available. A cannon-like monster is identified as non-harmful scenery in a Factory walkthrough.
- Lab brain-sign monster: stealth does not conceal Ayasa from it. Run, use gaps, and do not waste time trying the same invisibility trick.
Detection can feel inconsistent, and some enemies outrun Ayasa. When a stealth attempt fails, use the nearby checkpoint and change the timing or route instead of trying to sprint away after being spotted. Play Critically reports checkpoints just before stealth spaces and water hazards, though camera or path glitches can still occur.
How do checkpoints and saving work in AYASA?
AYASA uses checkpoints, but official and walkthrough information does not document a manual Save button, multiple save slots, or chapter select. On PC, install v1.06 or later before relying on persistent saves: Aya Games’ November 30, 2025 patch notes said, “We finally fixed the broken saves,” and added, “Saving should now work correctly.”

Do choices change the ending?
