How the products differ
AWS Elemental MediaLive: configurable live-video encoding
AWS describes MediaLive as a cloud-based video processing service for encoding live sources. Its capabilities include input switching, automated channel deployment, and integration with other AWS media services. AWS also documents support for flexible 24/7 channel workflows as well as event streams. That makes MediaLive a possible foundation for continuous broadcasting, but the reviewed AWS materials describe channel and input/output concepts—not a one-click application for uploading prerecorded files into a looping playlist.

The described flow is to upload or convert videos, order them in a playlist, connect a YouTube account, then start or schedule the broadcast. Gyre says playlists restart when they reach the end and run on its servers, so a local computer does not have to remain on. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independently tested results. YouTube also lists Gyre in its verified encoder directory; it remains a third-party service.

How to compare the real costs
Estimate MediaLive for the configuration you will actually run
MediaLive pricing is not a single universal monthly price. AWS says the total can include inputs, outputs, and add-ons. Charges accrue while resources are running even if there is no active input or output. AWS describes on-demand and reserved pricing; reservations involve a commitment. Running-resource charges are rounded up to the nearest minute after a ten-minute minimum. Region, codec, resolution, bitrate, frame rate, output count, and channel design affect the estimate.
Build the configuration first, then check the appropriate AWS regional pricing and calculator rather than treating any sample as a general price. A standard channel using two pipelines in separate Availability Zones has a different cost profile from a single-pipeline design; the redundancy is not free and is not itself an uptime guarantee. Match Gyre’s plan to capacity and features
Gyre’s pricing page lists a seven-day free trial and monthly plans shown at $49, $99, and $169. The page lists one HD stream on Start, up to four HD or one 4K stream on Start+, and up to eight HD or two 4K streams on PRO+. Storage and the availability of playlist and scheduler features vary by plan. The displayed prices and limits can change, and the page offers multiple billing durations, so confirm the current plan details before choosing.
