Choose Digital Deluxe at $49.99 when the Year 1 Pass, digital soundtrack, digital artbook and Deluxe HUD items justify the extra $20. PS5, Steam and Xbox document a Deluxe upgrade for base-game owners, so Standard does not force an immediate decision. Switch has a digital Standard listing, but the reviewed sources do not establish a Switch Deluxe upgrade or standalone pass. What does the Standard Edition include?
Standard is the full base game, not a demo or a reduced roster. The Steam description from PM Studios and Paramount Games lists 12 playable characters, plus Story, Arcade, Versus and Training modes and an art gallery. That is enough content to learn the combat system, play locally or online where the platform permits it, and decide whether additional fighters matter to you.
The edition is the sensible starting point when you are buying for a first-time player, sharing a console, or waiting to see how the post-launch roster develops. Nothing in the reviewed listings says that Standard removes a mode or locks the base fighters behind a later payment.

What does Digital Deluxe add?
Digital Deluxe contains the Standard game and the Year 1 Pass. It also includes an original digital soundtrack and digital artbook; Steam describes those as post-launch deliveries without giving a precise delivery date, so do not assume those files are available immediately at checkout.
The Year 1 Pass
The pass promises five character additions over the season:
- Iroh
- Ty Lee
- Lin Beifong
- Bolin
- The eventual winner of the Year 1 Character Vote
The five are additions to the 12-character base roster, not a replacement for it. Store wording says the fighters arrive over the season; it does not establish that every character is playable on the day you buy Deluxe. The reviewed sources also do not give an individual price for any fighter.
Deluxe HUD items
Paramount’s October 28, 2026 Patch 4.0 notes say Deluxe owners receive Platinum and Onyx HUDs. The same notes distinguish voting passes associated with preorders, Deluxe purchases or upgrades, and Deluxe preorders. Treat those as separate entitlements rather than assuming every historical preorder reward is included in a new purchase.
How much more does Deluxe cost?
The reviewed US PlayStation Store pages list Standard at $29.99 and Digital Deluxe at $49.99, a $20 listed difference. Those are US storefront examples checked in October 2026, not a promise about your region or a future promotion. Steam and Xbox can show different local-currency conversions, taxes or sale prices.
On PS5 and Xbox, the documented Deluxe upgrade is listed at $19.99; the opened Steam upgrade page displays $20.00. At the reviewed PS5 list prices, buying Standard and then the upgrade reaches the same pre-tax, pre-promotion amount as Deluxe at launch. An upgrade can therefore preserve flexibility, while buying Deluxe immediately may be simpler if you already know you want the pass.

Can you buy Standard first and upgrade later?
Yes on PS5, Steam and Xbox, where each platform has a Deluxe Edition Upgrade listing. The upgrade requires ownership of the base game on Steam and Xbox; PlayStation presents the corresponding add-on for the PS5 product.

- Purchase and install Standard from your platform’s official store.
- Open the game’s add-on or DLC section while signed into the same platform account.
- Select the Deluxe Edition Upgrade, and confirm that the listing says the base game is required or owned.
- After purchase, restart the game or check its downloadable-content management screen if the pass items do not appear immediately.
Do not assume this route exists on every platform. The reviewed Nintendo page documents a digital Switch game and Switch 2 compatibility mode, but the sources do not establish a Switch Deluxe upgrade.
Can you buy only Iroh or the Year 1 Pass?
The presently documented storefront route is the Deluxe bundle or Deluxe upgrade. Steam’s reviewed DLC category shows one listed result: the Deluxe Edition Upgrade. PlayStation and Xbox pages also document upgrades.
That is evidence of what is listed now, not proof that individual fighters or a standalone pass can never be sold. If you want only one character, inspect your own platform’s add-on catalog when that fighter releases; do not infer a per-character price from the Deluxe total.
Is a physical edition worth choosing?
Paramount announced physical Standard and Deluxe editions published by PM Studios. Nintendo Everything reported Switch and Switch 2 physical versions and said the Switch 2 release uses a full cartridge rather than a game-key card.

Which platform details can change the value?
Switch and Switch 2
Nintendo’s US page describes a digital Switch version that runs on Switch 2 in Switch compatibility mode. That is different from a dedicated Switch 2 edition. The reviewed sources do not establish a Switch Deluxe upgrade or a separate Year 1 Pass listing, so check Nintendo’s current add-on catalog before choosing Standard on that platform.
Online subscriptions
Edition choice does not include a console online-service subscription. PlayStation specifies PS Plus for online play, Xbox specifies an eligible Game Pass subscription, and Nintendo flags Nintendo Switch Online. These requirements apply to online multiplayer; they are separate from the game’s modes and DLC ownership.
Local multiplayer
The PlayStation listing specifies one-to-two-player play and DualSense support. If your plan is couch play, budget for a second compatible controller rather than treating the Deluxe pass as a multiplayer requirement.

Gameplay Group’s June 29 PlayStation Blog announcement described gold fighter colors, a Samurai Appa support skin, a character vote and July 2–5, 2026 closed-beta access as preorder incentives. The closed beta period has passed, so it is not a current buying benefit.
Patch 4.0’s October 28 notes are the more relevant guide for current Deluxe entitlements, including the Platinum and Onyx HUDs and the different voting-pass categories. A new purchase should not be advertised as automatically receiving every launch-era preorder item unless the live store page says so.
Which edition should you choose?
Choose Standard when you want the lowest commitment
- You mainly want the 12 base fighters and core modes.
- You are uncertain whether Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, Bolin or the vote winner will matter to you.
- You are buying on Switch, where a Deluxe upgrade is not documented in the reviewed sources.
- You prefer to wait for confirmed release timing before paying for future characters.
Choose Digital Deluxe when the pass is part of your plan
- You expect to play throughout Year 1 and want all five planned additions without deciding on each one.
- The soundtrack, artbook and Deluxe HUDs have real value for you.
- You are buying on PS5, Steam or Xbox and prefer one transaction over a later upgrade.
- You accept that the pass covers planned releases and does not mean every fighter is available immediately.
Choose Standard plus a later upgrade when you want an option

Choose physical only for a physical-media reason
Physical Standard or Deluxe makes sense for collecting, gifting or resale. Verify the exact platform SKU, stock, delivery date and whether the Deluxe extras are on the disc or cartridge, in a code, or delivered through a platform entitlement.
How to check the right listing before checkout
