The original Audio Pro A15 is a 3.4 kg battery-powered speaker that brings Wi‑Fi multiroom playback, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Bluetooth and a 3.5 mm input to places within your home network’s reach. Its useful niche is indoor-to-garden portability, not all-weather outdoor use: IPX2 covers light rain only, and Audio Pro’s battery figures are estimates rather than independent test results. Check the model suffix carefully, because the newer A15 W has different battery and app specifications.

What the original Audio Pro A15 is

The A15 is a conventional-sized wireless speaker with a built-in battery and the networking features usually associated with a fixed multiroom unit. You can use it on a shelf over Wi‑Fi, carry it to a patio that still receives your network, switch to Bluetooth where Wi‑Fi is unavailable, or connect an analogue source through its 3.5 mm AUX input.

That combination defines the product better than a simple portable-speaker label. It is designed to extend an existing Audio Pro multiroom setup beyond the room where the speaker normally lives. Audio Pro describes the system as extending as far as your Wi‑Fi reaches. In practical terms, the usable outdoor area depends on your router and access-point coverage rather than on a separate long-range radio built into the A15.

The model covered here is the original A15. It is not the A15 W, a later generation with a different app experience and a higher advertised battery figure. Listings that omit the suffix can therefore give you the wrong expectations about runtime and software.

Connectivity: the A15’s main reason to exist

Wi‑Fi and Audio Pro Multiroom

When the A15 is connected to your home network, it behaves like a multiroom endpoint rather than merely a Bluetooth box. You can place it in a room, select it from compatible network playback controls and include it in a wider Audio Pro system. The advantage is that your phone can remain a controller while the speaker receives the stream over Wi‑Fi.

Outdoor use follows the same rule. A patio or garden is a realistic extension of the system only while the A15 can maintain a reliable connection to your 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network. If the signal drops at the edge of the property, multiroom playback can stop even though the speaker itself is powered and nearby.

AirPlay 2

AirPlay 2 support lets compatible Apple devices send audio to the A15 over the local network. It is useful when you already select speakers from the operating system’s audio output panel, and it can fit into an existing AirPlay 2 arrangement. The speaker must be on the same network as the controlling device for discovery to work reliably.

Google Cast

Google Cast provides the corresponding network route for compatible Android and other Cast-enabled apps. As with AirPlay, the Cast controller and A15 normally need to be connected to the same local network. Cast availability is app-dependent: an app must expose a Cast control for it to appear as a destination.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth is the fallback for locations where Wi‑Fi is unavailable or inconvenient. It is also the simplest way for a guest to play audio without joining your home network. Bluetooth does not provide the same network-based multiroom control as Wi‑Fi, so treat it as a separate playback path rather than an extension of the Audio Pro grouping system.

3.5 mm AUX

The analogue input gives you a wired option for a laptop, music player or another source with a headphone-style output. AUX avoids wireless discovery and network credentials, although the source device must remain physically connected and its own volume control may affect the result.

Battery life: what the 11-hour claim actually means

Audio Pro lists up to 11 hours for the original A15. In the company’s announcement, that figure is described as 11 hours at half volume, while full volume is described as lasting just over eight hours. Both are manufacturer estimates, not results from an independent endurance test.

Volume is only one variable. Wi‑Fi streaming, Bluetooth use, network conditions, source material and battery age can all change the time between charges. A speaker that is several years old may also deliver less capacity than when new. For planning, use Audio Pro’s figures as an upper-bound guide for a healthy unit under the stated listening conditions, not as a guaranteed runtime for every session.

The 37 Wh battery specification describes stored energy, not a promise of 37 watt-hours reaching the amplifier and drivers at a fixed efficiency. It is useful for comparing the hardware generation, but it should not be converted into a runtime prediction by dividing it by the stated amplifier wattage.

If you need music for a long event, start with a full charge and keep a wired AUX source available as a contingency. The documentation supplied for this model does not establish a power-bank function or a user-replaceable battery, so do not assume either feature when planning an installation.

Can you use the A15 outside?

Yes, but only in the limited sense supported by its IPX2 rating and Wi‑Fi design. Audio Pro describes IPX2 as protection against light rain. That makes a covered patio, sheltered balcony or brief exposure to drizzle a reasonable use case when the speaker is positioned carefully.

IPX2 is not waterproofing. Do not submerge the speaker, leave it in a downpour, place it where sprinklers can spray it, or treat the rating as protection against a hose, poolside splashes or wind-driven rain. Keep the power connection and any wired source dry, and bring the unit indoors when weather is worsening.

Outdoor placement also has a networking requirement. The A15 can extend a multiroom system into a garden only where your Wi‑Fi signal reaches. If the garden is outside coverage, Bluetooth can still work from a nearby phone, but network-based room grouping and Wi‑Fi playback will not be dependable at that location.

Size and portability

At 206 × 286 × 137 mm and 3.4 kg, the A15 is portable in the household sense: you can move it from a kitchen shelf to a garden table without treating it as installed equipment. It is not a small travel speaker intended to disappear into a jacket pocket or a lightweight daypack.

The mass can be an advantage on a shelf because a heavier cabinet is less likely to shift when you operate the controls or connect a cable. It also means that carrying the A15 over a long distance, up stairs or on public transport is more of a commitment than carrying a compact battery speaker. Plan a stable, dry surface with enough clearance for the enclosure and cable connections.

How to set up the original A15

The exact wording of menus can change with app and firmware updates, but the setup sequence is straightforward. Complete the network step indoors, where your router’s signal is strongest, before moving the speaker outside.

  1. Charge the speaker. Start with the battery charged and place the A15 near your router during initial setup. This prevents a weak signal from being mistaken for a pairing or account problem.
  2. Install Audio Pro’s control app. Use the current app offered for the original A15, not instructions written specifically for the newer A15 W. If the app asks for local-network permission, allow it so the phone can discover the speaker.
  3. Add the speaker to Wi‑Fi. Choose the app’s add-device or setup option, select the A15 when it appears, and provide your home network credentials. If your router presents separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz names, choose the network that gives reliable coverage at the intended listening location.
  4. Wait for confirmation. Keep the phone and speaker on the same network until setup completes. A failed attempt is often caused by guest-network isolation, disabled local-device discovery or a phone that has switched to mobile data during the process.
  5. Test network playback indoors. Play a short track through Audio Pro Multiroom, AirPlay 2, Google Cast or Spotify Connect before carrying the speaker outside. Confirm that the A15 appears as a destination and that audio starts without dropouts.
  6. Pair Bluetooth when needed. Open your phone or computer’s Bluetooth settings, select the A15 from the available-device list and complete the pairing prompt. Use Bluetooth when the destination has no usable Wi‑Fi or when a guest needs a direct connection.
  7. Connect an AUX source if required. Insert a 3.5 mm cable into the A15 and the source device, select the appropriate input if the app or controls request it, and begin playback at a moderate source volume. Increase level gradually to avoid an unexpectedly loud signal.
  8. Move it to the final location and retest. Check both playback and network stability at the garden or patio position. A successful indoor setup does not guarantee coverage at the edge of your property.

Sound quality: what can be concluded

The hardware specification identifies a 4.5-inch woofer, a 1-inch textile dome tweeter and Class D amplification rated in the product sheet at 1 × 10 W plus 30 W. Audio Pro also lists a 45–22,000 Hz frequency range. Those details describe the design, but they do not establish how the speaker sounds in a room.

No independent listening test or controlled measurement is established for this review. It would therefore be misleading to label the A15 warm, balanced, detailed, bass-heavy or superior to another speaker as a tested result. Audio Pro’s own promotional description is a statement of positioning, not independent evidence.

If sound is your deciding factor, listen to a returnable unit in the room where you will use it, or consult a named independent review that explains its test conditions. Pay attention to the volume you normally use, because the manufacturer’s battery estimates differ materially between half and full volume.

Original A15 versus A15 W

The two names are easy to confuse, especially in marketplace listings. They are distinct generations, and specifications from one should not be transferred to the other.

Detail Original A15 A15 W
Generation covered here Original battery-powered multiroom speaker Newer model with the W suffix
Advertised battery life Up to 11 hours; Audio Pro also states 11 hours at half volume and just over eight hours at full volume Up to 19 hours on the newer model’s official page
App and processing claims Use the original model’s supported control software and features Page describes an updated app, advanced EQ and room correction
Connectivity stated in the supplied original-model material Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Audio Pro Multiroom, Spotify Connect and AUX Do not assume every original-model detail or control behavior is identical without checking the W specification
Buying implication Verify that a listing says A15, not A15 W, if you want the specifications in this article Evaluate as a separate product with its own price, availability and feature set

Shared dimensions or similar styling do not make the battery and app claims interchangeable. Read the model label on the rear panel, packaging and listing before relying on a quoted runtime.

Availability and price checks

Availability is regional and can change. When the original UK product page was accessed, it showed the A15 as sold out and displayed a sale price of £190 against a regular price of £350. Those figures describe that storefront snapshot, not a universal current price, and they should be rechecked before purchase.

A sold-out regional page does not prove that Audio Pro has discontinued the model worldwide. Stock can differ by country and retailer, and old listings may mix the original A15 with the A15 W. Confirm the exact suffix, warranty region, return policy and included power accessories before paying.

Because no current global price or independently verified stock list is established here, avoid judging value from an old discount alone. A lower price may reflect clearance inventory, while a higher listing may be an import with different support terms.

Who the original A15 suits

  • Existing Audio Pro multiroom owners: The A15 is designed to add a battery-powered zone without abandoning the same network-oriented approach.
  • Indoor-to-sheltered-outdoor listeners: A patio or garden within dependable Wi‑Fi coverage is the clearest use case.
  • Households that need several playback routes: AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Bluetooth and AUX cover different phones, guests and wired sources.
  • Listeners comfortable with a substantial portable unit: The 3.4 kg weight is manageable around a home but not optimized for ultralight travel.

Who should choose something else

  • People who need waterproof outdoor operation: IPX2 is limited to light rain and does not cover immersion or heavy exposure.
  • Anyone requiring a guaranteed all-day runtime at high volume: Audio Pro’s own estimate falls to just over eight hours at full volume, and real conditions vary.
  • Buyers seeking a pocket-sized travel speaker: The A15’s dimensions and weight favor room-to-room movement.
  • Listeners demanding a measured sonic verdict before buying: The available product material does not include independent frequency, distortion or loudness testing.
  • Shoppers who cannot verify the model suffix: An A15 W listing may look similar while carrying different battery and software claims.

Troubleshooting common problems

The A15 does not appear during Wi‑Fi setup

  • Confirm that the phone has joined the same home network you want the speaker to use, rather than a guest network.
  • Enable local-network discovery permissions for the Audio Pro app.
  • Move the speaker close to the router and retry the add-device process.
  • Temporarily disable a VPN or network-isolation feature that prevents devices on the same network from seeing one another.
  • If the router uses one name for both bands, try setup near the access point first; relocate the speaker only after registration succeeds.

AirPlay 2 or Google Cast cannot find the speaker

  • Check that the phone and A15 are on the same local network and not separated by guest-network isolation.
  • Test playback through the Audio Pro app to distinguish a speaker connection problem from an operating-system discovery problem.
  • Restart the app and speaker, then allow a short interval for the destination list to repopulate.

Bluetooth works but multiroom does not

This usually indicates that the speaker and phone are using different paths rather than that the hardware is defective. Bluetooth can operate without Wi‑Fi, while multiroom features require the A15 to be registered on the local network. Reconnect the speaker to Wi‑Fi and test network playback indoors before moving it back outside.

Playback stops in the garden

Check signal strength at the exact outdoor position and try the 2.4 GHz network if the 5 GHz signal does not reach that far. If network coverage remains insufficient, use Bluetooth from a nearby phone or move the speaker closer to the house. Do not expose it to heavier rain simply to improve signal placement.

Runtime is shorter than expected

Compare your listening level with Audio Pro’s stated test conditions. Full-volume operation is quoted at just over eight hours, not 11, and Wi‑Fi activity, source material and battery age can reduce it further. Recharge fully and avoid treating the maximum claim as a guarantee.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A practical buying checklist

  1. Confirm the suffix: The listing and physical label should identify the original A15 if you want the specifications above.
  2. Map your Wi‑Fi: Stand where you plan to listen outdoors and verify that your network remains stable there.
  3. Decide whether IPX2 is enough: Choose a sheltered placement and a bring-it-inside routine if rain is possible.
  4. Match the playback method: Check whether your household primarily uses AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Bluetooth, AUX or Audio Pro Multiroom.
  5. Plan for volume and duration: Use the half-volume and full-volume estimates as separate planning points, not one universal battery number.
  6. Check regional stock and terms: Confirm current price, warranty, return window and charger details in your country.
  7. Seek independent sound evidence if necessary: The specifications alone cannot answer whether its tonal balance suits your room.

Verdict

The original Audio Pro A15 makes sense when you want one speaker to move between indoor rooms and a Wi‑Fi-covered, sheltered outdoor area while retaining multiroom conveniences. Its strongest advantages are the range of playback routes, the built-in battery and the ability to join an Audio Pro network. Its boundaries are equally clear: IPX2 is only light-rain protection, the 11-hour figure is a manufacturer estimate tied to listening conditions, and the available documentation does not provide an independent sound-quality verdict.

Buy it only after confirming that you are looking at the original A15, not the A15 W, and after checking current regional stock. For the right networked indoor-to-patio setup, that distinction and those limitations matter more than a generic portable-speaker feature list.
