Yes—Audible is testing Interactive Story, a feature that lets listeners respond in their own words to selected book characters, who then react in real time. Its first experience features Renfield in the Audible Original Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The feature is a bonus experience beyond the audiobook’s original narrative, not a general chat function built into every Audible title.
How Audible’s Interactive Story works
Audible says each Interactive Story combines generative AI, conversational design and sound production. In the Dracula experience, Renfield speaks first, gives the listener a role and goal, and sets the stakes. The listener can then answer in their own words, and Renfield responds in real time.

This is an additional story experience rather than a replacement for, or a change to, the audiobook itself. Audible says creators establish its foundations—including opening scenes, turning points and the character’s persona—and that the design is intended to stay faithful to the creator’s vision. Audible has not promised unrestricted conversation.
Which Audible titles have an Interactive Story?
The first accompanies Audible Original Bram Stoker’s Dracula and puts the listener in conversation with Renfield, Dracula’s unpredictable and tormented servant. Audible announced that the next experience is scheduled for November 5, 2026, in the world of Exoplanet, created with author Benjamin Percy.

Character Guide helps listeners follow who is speaking; it is not the talk-to-a-character experience. Audible announced Visual Explorer as a third feature, but the announcement’s details summarized here do not specify how it works.
Is the Dracula character experience available in the U.S. or UK?
Audible said the three features are rolling out in a limited beta to customers in the United States and United Kingdom, with expansion planned as it gathers feedback from customers and creators. That does not mean every customer in either country, or every edition of the Dracula audiobook, can use the experience. Check the title and your account in Audible for current eligibility and support; availability may change during the rollout.

What Audible says about creator involvement
Audible says creators define key foundations of an Interactive Story, including its opening, turning points and character persona. The company describes the product as designed to keep the interaction faithful to the creator’s vision. Its announcement does not specify every boundary on possible responses, so listeners should not assume they can ask anything or steer the character outside the experience’s design.
Audible Chief Content Officer Rachel Ghiazza called the features “the latest step in our nearly 30-year journey to push audio storytelling forward.” Chief Product and Analytics Officer Andy Tsao said AI allows Audible to create interactive experiences that listeners, “especially younger audiences,” are craving.

Why the announcement matters for audiobooks
The feature points toward audiobooks being accompanied by optional, interactive story experiences, rather than only passive listening. The scale of the market helps explain the interest: Publishers Weekly reported U.S. audiobook sales of $2.43 billion in 2025, a figure cited by TechCrunch. That market figure is context, not evidence that Interactive Story is available across the catalog.
