AiMaster is ASUSTOR’s official mobile app for administering an ASUSTOR NAS running ADM. It is available for Android and iOS and can guide initial NAS setup, manage ADM settings, services and apps, monitor activity, and control backup tasks. A computer is not required for first-time setup, but you need a hard disk in the NAS, a phone or tablet on the same local network, and administrator credentials.
What is AiMaster?
AiMaster is a mobile administration app for ASUSTOR NAS devices that use ASUSTOR Data Master (ADM). ASUSTOR describes it as an app for “controlling and adjusting ADM settings.” It is intended for administration rather than general file browsing: use it to configure and monitor the NAS from a phone or tablet.
The app is distributed through Google Play for Android and the Apple App Store for iOS. ASUSTOR’s AiMaster course demonstrates installation on both platforms.
Can you set up an ASUSTOR NAS from your phone?
Yes. ASUSTOR’s documented initial-setup process does not require a computer. The NAS needs a hard disk installed in slot 1, and the phone or tablet and NAS must be connected to the same local network during discovery and initialization.
#1 Best Overall
- [Quad-Core Processor for Daily Tasks] Powered by Realtek RTD1619B quad-core 1.7GHz CPU, ensuring stable performance for file storage, backup, and personal cloud usage.
- [Fast 2.5GbE Network Upgrade] Equipped with 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet, delivering faster transfer speeds than traditional Gigabit NAS for home data management.
- [1GB DDR4 Efficient Memory] Optimized 1GB DDR4 memory ensures stable system performance for basic multitasking and background services.
- [Personal Cloud Backup Solution] Create your own private cloud to store, access, and manage files securely from anywhere with full data ownership.
- [Tool-Free Installation for Fast & Easy Setup] Designed for user convenience with tool-free drive installation, allowing quick HDD/SSD setup without screws—perfect for beginners and IT professionals.
- Install a hard disk in slot 1 of the NAS.
- Connect the NAS to your local network and power it on.
- Connect your phone or tablet to that same network and install AiMaster.
- Open AiMaster, find the uninitialized NAS, and start the initialization flow.
- Sign in with an administrator account when prompted to connect to and administer the NAS.
ASUSTOR’s setup course covers the mobile connection flow. The documented sign-in supports administrator accounts only, so a standard user account is not sufficient for AiMaster administration.
What can AiMaster control?
AiMaster brings a range of ADM administration tasks to mobile devices. ASUSTOR’s product information and current Google Play listing describe these capabilities:
Rank #2
- [Intel Quad-Core Efficient Processing Power] Powered by Intel Celeron N5105 quad-core CPU for smooth multitasking, file sharing, media streaming, and 24/7 NAS workloads.
- [Hybrid Storage NAS for Performance & Flexibility] Supports both SATA HDD/SSD and NVMe SSD cache, delivering a flexible hybrid storage architecture ideal for performance optimization and large-capacity data storage.
- [Dual 5GbE High-Speed Network Connectivity] Equipped with dual 5-Gigabit Ethernet ports, delivering significantly faster data transfer compared to standard Gigabit NAS for creators and small businesses.
- [4x M.2 NVMe SSD Slots for Cache Acceleration] Supports up to four NVMe SSDs for caching or tiered storage, improving system responsiveness, IOPS performance, and overall speed.
- [4K Media Server with HDMI Output] Supports hardware 4K transcoding and HDMI output for smooth media playback, ideal for Plex, streaming devices, and home entertainment systems.
- Initialize and activate: Run one-click or custom initialization for a new NAS.
- Manage ADM: Change settings, manage services, and install or manage apps.
- Monitor the NAS: Check real-time status, resource use, and online users, and receive event notifications.
- Manage backup work: View or control backup jobs and schedules.
- Use device utilities: Access Find Me and One Touch Backup functions.
- Wake a supported NAS: Send Wake-on-LAN or Wake-on-WAN commands where the device and network support them.
- Administer multiple devices: Control multiple NAS devices through the app.
These are administration features; availability of functions such as remote wake depends on NAS and network support. See the ASUSTOR AiMaster product page and Google Play listing for the vendor’s feature descriptions.
Security, notifications, and remote access
ASUSTOR says AiMaster uses HTTPS-encrypted transmission between the app and NAS. The mobile app also supports a passcode lock and biometric unlocking. These controls protect the app and its communications; they do not remove the need to secure NAS accounts and remote access appropriately.

- [4x M.2 NVMe SSD for Extreme Speed] Supports up to four NVMe SSDs for caching or full flash storage, significantly improving system responsiveness, IOPS performance, and low-latency operations.
- [Expandable DDR4 Memory up to 16GB] Comes with 4GB DDR4 RAM, upgradeable to 16GB for enhanced multitasking and demanding workloads such as virtualization and heavy file operations.
- [Dual 2.5GbE High-Speed Networking] Dual 2.5GbE ports enable ultra-fast data transfer and link aggregation, ideal for high-bandwidth file sharing, backups, and multi-user environments.
- [HDMI 2.0b & USB 3.2 Gen2 Connectivity] Built-in HDMI output and high-speed USB 3.2 Gen2 ports for direct display output and fast external storage expansion.
Push notifications require two settings to be enabled: notification sending on the NAS and notification receiving on the mobile device. If alerts do not arrive, check both ends of that configuration. ASUSTOR documents these controls in its AiMaster information and mobile administration course.

The Apple App Store release notes list ADM 4.0.0 as AiMaster’s minimum supported ADM version. They also mention compatibility work for iOS 26 and ADM 5.1.1. If your NAS runs an older ADM release, check the current app-store compatibility information before upgrading AiMaster or the NAS. The minimum-version statement comes from the iOS App Store release notes; it should not be assumed to establish identical requirements for every app version or platform.
