How long does the ASUS TUF Gaming 16 battery last?

The clearest independent figures in the available evidence come from TechRadar’s 2025 review of a specific TUF Gaming A16 configuration, not an FX607 F16. That unit lasted 12 hours 18 minutes in the reviewer’s movie-playback test and 2 hours 10 minutes in the PCMark gaming-battery test. It recharged in just under two hours. These are test results for that A16 configuration under TechRadar’s conditions; they are not a guaranteed result for an F16 or for every A16 SKU.

- Open the full regional listing and record the battery value in watt-hours (Wh), not only the marketing phrase “long-lasting.”
- Match that value to the complete FX607 or FA607/FA608 code in the specification sheet.
- Check whether the review you are reading tested the same CPU, GPU, display refresh rate and battery capacity.
- For a used laptop, inspect battery health in the manufacturer utility or Windows report and ask for the cycle count; a runtime measured on a worn battery is not representative of a new unit.
Can you upgrade the RAM?
Yes, the F16 platform is designed for memory upgrades. ASUS lists two SO-DIMM slots and dual-channel support. Memory technology depends on the configuration: ASUS lists both DDR5 and DDR4 possibilities across F16 variants. The cited FX607VJB specification uses 16GB of DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM memory and states a maximum of 64GB across the two slots.

For a DDR5 unit, shop for DDR5 SO-DIMM laptop RAM and match the installed speed and capacity as closely as possible. Do not order DDR5 for a variant that uses DDR4; the modules are keyed differently and are not interchangeable. Confirm the exact model code and the existing memory type in the listing or in a diagnostic tool before ordering.

RAM upgrade procedure
- Back up important files, shut down Windows completely and disconnect the AC adapter and all peripherals.
- Place the laptop on a clean, non-carpeted surface. Remove the bottom cover using the correct screwdriver and keep each screw organized; screw lengths can differ.
- Disconnect the internal battery connector before touching the memory. Avoid forcing the cover or prying against cables.
- Release the side clips of an empty SO-DIMM slot, align the module’s notch with the key and insert it at an angle. Press it down until both clips lock. If replacing modules, install the matched pair in the two slots.
- Reconnect the battery, reinstall the cover and boot into Windows. In Task Manager > Performance > Memory, confirm the new total and that the system reports the expected speed or channel configuration.
- Run a memory test if the laptop fails to boot, crashes or shows less RAM than expected. Power off and reseat the module if necessary.
Opening the chassis can have service implications that vary by country and seller. Keep the original modules and screws, and check the local warranty terms before performing the work.
Can you add or replace an SSD?
Yes. ASUS lists two M.2 PCIe slots on the F16, which allows a second drive in systems with one occupied slot or a replacement of the original drive. The FX607VJB listing identifies its supplied drive as a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD.
The shopping description to look for is M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. Verify the slot’s supported length and interface in the exact service documentation before buying; an M.2 connector can support different protocols on different boards. Also check whether your regional unit includes a mounting screw, thermal pad or heatsink for the empty position.
SSD installation choices
- Add a second drive: Leave the original Windows drive in place and initialize the new drive in Disk Management after installation. This is usually the simplest way to gain capacity.
- Replace the boot drive: Clone the original drive to the new one before removing it, or perform a clean Windows installation and restore your backup. Confirm that the replacement drive is detected in firmware before wiping the old disk.
- Move games or projects: Format the new volume with NTFS and assign a clear drive letter. Keep the operating-system drive with adequate free space for updates and paging.
SSD installation procedure
- Back up files and, if replacing the boot drive, create a recovery drive or a verified disk image.
- Shut down, unplug power and remove the bottom cover. Disconnect the battery before handling the motherboard.
- Remove the M.2 retaining screw, slide the SSD into the connector at a shallow angle and press it flat. Refit the retaining screw without overtightening.
- Replace any supplied thermal pad or shield exactly as designed, reconnect the battery and close the chassis.
- Enter firmware setup or boot Windows and check that the drive appears. In Windows, open Disk Management to initialize and partition a new, unformatted disk.
If the second SSD is missing, power down and reseat it first. Then check that the drive is an NVMe PCIe model, the retaining screw is installed and the slot is enabled by the specific board design. A drive that appears in firmware but not Windows generally needs initialization; a drive absent from firmware points to seating, compatibility or hardware trouble.

Which ports does the TUF Gaming F16 have?

USB-C DisplayPort output can drive a compatible monitor through the correct cable, while USB Power Delivery can simplify charging or peripheral power. Those functions do not automatically mean Thunderbolt. If you need a Thunderbolt dock, external PCIe enclosure or a specific multi-monitor arrangement, require the exact SKU’s port table to say “Thunderbolt 4” rather than inferring it from the chassis family.
How long is the ASUS TUF Gaming warranty?
Warranty duration is market and SKU dependent. The cited FX607VJB India listing states one year. That is a useful reference for that product and region, not a universal term for every TUF Gaming 16 sold elsewhere.

What to record for a warranty claim
- Full model code, serial number and the country of purchase.
- Original invoice or order confirmation showing the seller and purchase date.
- A description of the fault, including error messages and the steps that reproduce it.
- Any memory or SSD changes, with the original parts retained for diagnosis if requested.
Registering the laptop after purchase can make support and repair tracking easier, but registration does not change a country’s statutory rights or automatically extend the standard warranty.

Check whether the review tested an A16 rather than an F16, whether its battery was 90Wh rather than 56Wh, and whether it used movie playback instead of gaming. Compare the test mode, brightness and refresh rate before concluding that the laptop is defective.

Confirm DDR4 versus DDR5, reseat the module with the battery disconnected, and test one module at a time. If the laptop reaches Windows but reports the wrong capacity, inspect the slot and module seating before assuming the advertised maximum applies to your exact SKU.

“The second SSD does not appear”
Reseat the drive, verify that it is an M.2 NVMe 2280 model, check for the retaining screw and look in firmware. If firmware sees it but Windows does not, initialize it in Disk Management; do not format a disk containing data you still need.
“My USB-C dock or monitor does not work”
Verify that your specific port lists DisplayPort output and, for charging, Power Delivery. The presence of USB-C alone is not proof of either feature, and Thunderbolt 4 is listed for the press-release configuration but not established for every FX607 regional listing.
“I cannot find Premium Care”
Availability differs by country. Use the support portal with the device serial number and ask the seller or ASUS regional support what plans can be purchased and when the eligibility window closes.
