That appearance does not confirm he is fit or selected for Villa’s next Premier League match: his availability against Brentford remains unconfirmed.
What happened to Pau Torres?
Torres sustained a hamstring problem during Aston Villa’s 2–1 defeat to Nottingham Forest on 12 September, according to a report published on 21 September. The report attributed an initial recovery estimate of around two to four weeks to manager Unai Emery and said Torres missed Villa’s subsequent Carabao Cup match against Coventry City and Premier League match against Tottenham. The report on his injury timeline did not make a specific return date certain.
What does his Sevilla appearance confirm?
RotoWire reported that Torres came on at halftime against Sevilla in Aston Villa’s Antonio Puerta Trophy win on 2 October and played 45 minutes. This establishes a reported return to match action, but not that he has completed a full training program, regained full match fitness or is ready to start a competitive game.
The Premier League’s injury page, last updated 2 October, did not list Torres among Aston Villa’s injured players. That is a snapshot, not a medical clearance or an announcement that he will be selected.

Could Torres play against Brentford?
Aston Villa’s official fixture list shows Brentford visiting Villa Park on 10 October. The 21 September injury report described that match as the earliest possible return date, while warning that it was not guaranteed. The Sevilla appearance is encouraging, but neither it nor the league injury listing confirms Torres’s availability for Brentford.
For the latest fixture information, see Aston Villa’s men’s fixtures. A confirmed selection would require a club or matchday squad announcement; no such confirmation is established by the available reporting.
