Often, yes: YouTube may keep a completed gaming livestream as a video replay on the channel. It is not guaranteed, though. YouTube says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Even when an archive exists, the creator controls whether it is public, unlisted, or private.
What happens to a gaming livestream after it ends?
A channel may post a replay after a livestream ends, and viewers can then watch it as a video on the channel. YouTube does not guarantee that every completed broadcast will have a replay: automatic archiving is conditional, and the creator can change the archive’s visibility.
YouTube’s guidance says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, including encoder, webcam, and mobile streams. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. The platform does not publish a percentage of gaming streams that become replays, so there is no reliable general replay rate.
Why might a replay be missing or hard to find?
The stream exceeded 12 hours
YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. If the broadcast ran that long, a missing archive may reflect the duration rather than a problem with your device.

The archive is not public
A creator can set an archive to public, unlisted, or private in YouTube Studio. Public videos are generally discoverable on the channel. An unlisted or private archive may not appear in the same way; private videos have restricted access, while unlisted videos are typically available to people with the link.
The creator has not posted or retained a replay
YouTube describes replays as something a channel may post. A completed livestream does not necessarily become a publicly visible video on the channel.

Is DVR the same as a replay?
No. DVR controls whether viewers can pause or seek backward while a broadcast is still live. A replay is the recording available after the stream ends. YouTube says disabling DVR prevents viewers from seeking back during the live broadcast, but does not prevent them from seeing the full recording once it is available.
For very long live streams, DVR may be limited or unavailable. Viewers also cannot seek to a point before the stream began. These live-viewing limits do not, by themselves, determine whether a later replay exists.

How to check whether a gaming stream has a replay
-
Open the creator’s YouTube channel and check its Videos or live-stream archive listing. A replay may be listed as a video after the creator posts or retains it.
-
If you are the creator, open YouTube Studio, go to Content, and select the Live tab. Check whether the archive is there and review its visibility setting.

If the archive is not present, consider how long the stream ran. YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams shorter than 12 hours; longer streams may not be captured.
-
Do not treat DVR settings as proof that an archive is missing. DVR affects seeking during the live broadcast; the later recording is a separate matter.

How creators can reduce the chance of losing a replay
YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as a backup. For an encoder stream, its tips include checking that the local archive file is growing. A local copy is creator-side protection; viewers do not need one to watch a replay published on YouTube.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos running as a 24/7 YouTube stream rather than leave a gaming setup online, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; videos stream as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
