Discovery (WBD). That is attributed reporting—not a public confirmation from the companies or the two executives. Paramount had announced regulatory clearances for its proposed WBD acquisition, but the announcement reviewed here did not say the transaction had closed.
What is known about Gunn and Safran’s roles?
Gizmodo reported that Deadline said Gunn and Safran would continue to run DC Studios after Paramount and WBD combine. The reviewed sources contain no direct statement from Paramount, WBD, Gunn, or Safran confirming their post-transaction appointments. The report is therefore the basis for the claim, not an official appointment notice. Gizmodo’s October 2 report

WBD’s July 28, 2025 leadership announcement provides a clear historical baseline: it named Gunn and Safran co-chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios. That confirms their roles at that point, but does not establish what their titles or responsibilities would be after a later transaction. WBD’s July 28, 2025 announcement
Why the “Skydance” and WBD deals are easy to confuse
There are two separate transactions in this story. Paramount completed its merger with Skydance Media on August 7, 2025. More than a year later, Paramount announced regulatory clearances for its proposed acquisition of WBD. The earlier Paramount–Skydance merger is not the WBD acquisition, and clearance for the proposed WBD deal is not evidence that it had closed. That distinction matters when interpreting the headline: Gunn and Safran’s reported continuation concerns what is expected after the proposed Paramount–WBD combination, not a confirmed change made when Paramount and Skydance merged in 2025.
What else did the report say about Warner Bros. leadership?
Gizmodo also reported that Warner Bros. film leaders Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy were expected to be replaced by Paramount film leaders Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg. As with the report about Gunn and Safran, this is attributed reporting, not a corporate appointment announcement in the reviewed sources.

Gizmodo noted that Gunn reposted a merger video by David Ellison, but said Gunn had not commented on the deal. A repost alone does not confirm his future role, indicate endorsement of the transaction, or establish the terms of an appointment.

As context for the leadership story, Gizmodo mentioned Lanterns, Clayface, Man of Tomorrow, The Batman Part II, Dynamic Duo, and The People v. Gorilla Grodd. Those titles are projects cited in that report; the list should not be read as a complete, independently verified production slate, and it does not establish release dates.
