Apple announced its 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with M5 on March 3, 2026. The announcement is no longer approaching. If you meant a different M5 MacBook model or a later Apple event, the available information does not establish that one is imminent.
When did Apple announce the M5 MacBook Air?
Apple announced the M5 MacBook Air on March 3, 2026, in a release covering both 13-inch and 15-inch models. That date refers specifically to the MacBook Air; it does not confirm an upcoming announcement for another MacBook model. Apple’s announcement
What Apple specified for the 13-inch M5 MacBook Air

| CPU | 10 cores |
| GPU | 8 cores, configurable to 10 cores |
| Unified memory | 16GB base; configurable to 24GB or 32GB |
| SSD storage | 512GB base; configurable to 1TB, 2TB, or 4TB |

| Battery life | Apple states up to 18 hours of video streaming or up to 15 hours of wireless web |
| Charging | 30W minimum power source; fast charging with a 70W-or-higher USB PD source |

What Apple says about M5 performance
Apple presented performance improvements as part of its launch messaging. Those are manufacturer claims tied to Apple’s stated testing conditions, not guarantees of the same gains in every app or workload. The announcement does not provide independent testing. Apple executive John Ternus described the laptop as bringing “incredible performance and even more capability to the world’s most popular laptop”; that is Apple’s product characterization, not an independent assessment. What was reported about launch prices
The Associated Press reported US launch prices of $1,099 for the 13-inch M5 MacBook Air and $1,299 for the 15-inch model in March 2026. These are reported launch prices, not a current price check; actual prices depend on region, configuration, seller, and date. Associated Press coverage

Does this mean another M5 MacBook announcement is near?
No such conclusion follows from Apple’s M5 MacBook Air announcement. It confirms the Air’s March 3, 2026 launch, but does not establish that another MacBook model or a separate event is approaching. Readers looking for a particular model should distinguish it from the Air rather than treating “M5 MacBook” as a single pending announcement.
