Apple’s first smart glasses are reportedly targeted for a June 2027 unveiling at WWDC, with availability by the end of 2027. That is a reported schedule—not a release date Apple has confirmed. Reporting also describes camera-and-audio glasses rather than a first-generation product with an in-lens augmented-reality display.
When will Apple’s glasses be available?
TechCrunch reported on July 26, 2026, citing Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, that Apple had pushed its target back from early 2027. The reported plan is to unveil the glasses at WWDC in June 2027 and make them available to customers by the end of that year. The unveiling and retail availability are separate milestones, and neither is confirmed by Apple in the reporting reviewed. TechCrunch’s July 26 report
Earlier, MacRumors reported on May 31, 2026, that Gurman’s information pointed to a late-2027 release, after an earlier plan to begin shipping in early 2027. The changing target is a reason to treat the dates as provisional, not a guarantee. MacRumors’ May 31 report
What might the first Apple glasses do?
According to the capabilities described in MacRumors’ account of Gurman’s reporting, the glasses may combine cameras, speakers and microphones with features tied to an iPhone and Siri. These are possibilities under development, not an announced specification list.

Apple’s broader wearable-AI effort provides context, not proof of what will ship in these glasses. Bloomberg reported in February 2026 that Apple was accelerating work on smart glasses, a wearable pendant and AirPods with expanded AI capabilities, with Siri and visual context central to that effort. Bloomberg’s February 2026 report
Will the first Apple glasses have an AR display?
Current reporting does not point to an in-lens augmented-reality display in the first smart glasses. MacRumors’ account of Gurman’s reporting distinguishes the camera-and-audio product expected sooner from Apple’s longer-term AR-glasses ambition, which is described as years away. In other words, “smart glasses” should not be read as confirmation that the first model will place digital images or text in the wearer’s field of view. MacRumors’ report on the display distinction

What is known about price and design?
Reports describe multiple frame shapes and colors, but do not establish final styles, prescription-lens support or other fit options. MacRumors relayed a reported U.S. competitive price range of US$200–500. That range is attributed to Gurman’s reporting; it is not an Apple retail price or a confirmed starting price. What is still unclear about privacy?
Privacy choices reportedly remain part of development. TechCrunch says Apple is considering on-device processing and the absence of facial recognition. 9to5Mac relayed discussion of testing a camera-free version and another possibility in which cameras would not record photos or video. These are reported options, not safeguards Apple has promised or specifications it has finalized. TechCrunch’s account of privacy discussions and 9to5Mac’s account of camera options
