What the Magic Mouse (USB-C) does
Apple describes the Magic Mouse as a wireless, rechargeable mouse with a Multi-Touch surface. You can swipe between web pages and scroll through documents on its touch-sensitive top surface, rather than relying on a conventional scroll wheel. That makes gestures its defining control feature; whether that feels more natural than physical buttons is a matter of preference.
The box includes the mouse and a woven USB-C Charge Cable, according to Apple’s technical specifications. The cable is for charging; the mouse connects wirelessly.
What changed in the 2024 USB-C update
The USB-C model was introduced in 2024. Macworld reported that the mouse’s design had otherwise remained the same since 2015, with the connector changing from Lightning to USB-C. MacRumors also reported that Apple kept the charging port on the underside. The update modernizes the connector, not the shape or the charging arrangement.

That location creates the mouse’s clearest practical trade-off: when it needs charging, you cannot use it as a mouse while it is plugged in. If you want a mouse that remains usable during charging, the underside port is a reason to choose something else.
Size, comfort and hand fit
Apple lists the mouse as 0.85 inches (2.16 cm) high, 2.25 inches (5.71 cm) wide and 4.47 inches (11.35 cm) deep, with a weight of 0.22 pounds (0.099 kg). Those measurements establish its compact, low-profile proportions, not whether it will feel comfortable in your hand. The available product information does not establish a universal comfort result, so consider whether you prefer a flat, minimal shape or a mouse with a more substantial grip before buying.

Battery life and compatibility
Apple says the rechargeable battery powers the mouse for “about a month or more between charges.” This is the company’s approximate claim, not an independently measured battery-life result. Your actual interval may vary with use.

It is worth considering if you use a compatible Mac or iPad, want a wireless mouse with a touch-sensitive surface for scrolling and swiping, and like its low-profile form. The included charging cable and Apple’s approximate battery-life claim may also suit someone who prefers to charge a mouse occasionally rather than replace batteries.

Choose by control style, comfort preference, compatibility and tolerance for the underside port—not by assuming USB-C changed the mouse’s ergonomics.
