Amazon U.S. was reported to have the Apple Mac mini M5 Pro with 24GB of unified memory and a 512GB SSD for $1,549.99, down from a stated $1,699 list price—a $149.01 difference. Mashable via Yahoo Tech reported the offer on October 5, 2026, and Macworld reported the same configuration and price on October 6. Those are dated deal reports, not confirmation that the price or stock is still available; check Amazon’s current listing before buying.
What the reported Amazon deal included
The offer applies to the base M5 Pro configuration: a 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 24GB unified memory and 512GB SSD. The reported $1,549.99 price is $149.01 below the $1,699 list price cited by Mashable via Yahoo Tech and Macworld. AppleInsider also reported the offer, rounding the savings to $150. Prices and availability can change, and no live Amazon checkout price is established by those reports.

Apple lists a separate higher-tier M5 Pro configuration with an 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU, 64GB memory and 1TB storage. Do not assume the reported deal applies to that upgraded model. See Apple’s Mac mini buying page for its listed configurations.
Is the M5 Pro a good fit for your work?
The discount is most relevant if you need the M5 Pro configuration’s higher memory ceiling, stronger core-count specifications or Thunderbolt 5 connectivity and are comfortable with the price. Macworld’s October 6 comparison describes the M5 Pro as offering up to 64GB of memory and up to 8TB of SSD storage, alongside Thunderbolt 5. These are product capabilities, not proof that every demanding workload will run faster than on another Mac.

Macworld’s comparison also reports that the M6 Mac mini performed better in a single-core CPU test and a quantized Neural Engine test. That does not establish that M6 is faster for every task: compare the workloads and ports you actually need, especially if you run sustained multithreaded CPU or GPU work or need more memory.

What “AI-friendly” means—and what it does not
Apple lists the M5 Pro with a 16-core Neural Engine and describes Apple Intelligence support. Its comparison page also says Siri AI is in beta in macOS 27, requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language, and is available in English to start. Read Apple’s Mac mini comparison page for those qualifications and the listed chip specifications.
Those features make the Mac relevant to Apple’s AI software, but they do not establish that this specific configuration is best for every AI task or that it outperforms alternatives. The deal reports and specifications do not provide independent benchmarks for local AI models or particular AI workflows.

- Open the Amazon U.S. listing and confirm it is the M5 Pro Mac mini with 24GB memory and a 512GB SSD—not the 64GB/1TB configuration or an M6 model.
- Check the displayed price, seller, stock and delivery options at checkout. The $1,549.99 figure is from October 5–6, 2026 reports, not a verified live price.
- Compare the current price with the listing’s stated list price rather than assuming the reported $149.01 saving still applies.
- Remember that a Mac mini is a desktop computer. If you do not already have them, you will also need a monitor, keyboard and mouse.
