The iPhone 17 Pro is the smaller 6.3-inch option with Apple’s A19 Pro chip and three 48MP rear cameras; the vivo X300 Ultra is a larger 6.82-inch phone with a higher-resolution display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and a 6,600mAh battery. There is no single global price gap: Apple’s published $1,099 starting price is a U.S. launch price for 256GB, while vivo’s cited prices are from different markets and configurations.

How the displays, size, and performance differ

Display and handling

The X300 Ultra’s 6.82-inch panel is larger and has a higher listed resolution than the iPhone 17 Pro’s 6.3-inch display. vivo also lists an adaptive refresh range up to 144Hz, compared with Apple’s listed maximum of 120Hz. Those specifications alone do not establish which display looks better: brightness, color behavior, calibration, and viewing conditions matter too.

Apple lists the iPhone 17 Pro at 206g. The cited vivo specification page does not state a weight, so a direct weight comparison cannot be made from these sources. The size difference is still clear from the display measurements: the vivo is the larger-screen choice, while the iPhone is the more compact of the two on the available specifications.

Processors and real-world speed

Apple names its processor as A19 Pro; vivo lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. These are manufacturer-published chip names, not a head-to-head result. The cited sources do not provide comparable benchmark scores, sustained-load tests, or measurements of everyday responsiveness, so they do not establish a faster phone.

Camera hardware: built-in lenses versus add-on reach

What each phone has on board

Apple lists three 48MP Fusion rear cameras—Main, Ultra Wide, and Telephoto—and describes the system as covering the equivalent of eight lenses, with up to 8x optical-quality zoom. “Optical-quality” is Apple’s description of the zoom capability; it should not be confused with a claim that one native optical lens reaches every focal length in that range.

vivo lists a 50MP ultra-wide camera at 14mm, a 200MP camera at 35mm, and a 200MP telephoto camera at 85mm. The focal lengths and megapixel counts explain the camera layout, but they do not by themselves show which phone takes better photos. The cited material contains no independent, same-condition camera comparison.

What vivo’s telephoto extenders add

The X300 Ultra can reach farther with optional accessories: vivo states that its ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 provides 200mm-equivalent reach when attached, while the Gen 2 Ultra provides 400mm equivalent when attached and enabled in the Camera app. These are not built-in phone lenses. A buyer needs to account for the accessories’ separate purchase, added weight, and carrying requirements rather than treating 200mm or 400mm as phone-only capability.

vivo’s Photographer Kit is described as including the phone, both extenders, an imaging grip, lens caps, adapter and mount rings, a case, a shoulder strap, and a tripod collar ring. Kit availability varies by market and date; vivo Philippines reported the kit sold out in pre-orders in June 2026.

Price difference: why country and configuration matter

Apple announced the iPhone 17 Pro on September 9, 2025, with a U.S. starting price of $1,099 for 256GB and storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. That is the announced launch price, not a guarantee of today’s retail price. Apple also referenced trade-in and carrier promotions, which depend on eligibility and terms. The cited vivo prices are regional examples, not directly comparable amounts:

Phone and configuration Published price example What the figure represents
iPhone 17 Pro, 256GB $1,099 Apple’s U.S. launch starting price announced September 9, 2025
vivo X300 Ultra, 16GB + 1TB €1,899.90 Price displayed by the vivo Italy Store when accessed in 2026; the page showed it reduced from €1,999.90, and the retailer price may change
vivo X300 Ultra, Steppe Green Php 109,999 Price stated by vivo Philippines in a June 9, 2026 release; this is a dated regional statement, not a live stock check

These figures cannot be subtracted to produce a meaningful price difference: they use different currencies, markets, storage configurations, dates, and potentially different tax and promotion conditions. For a useful comparison, check current authorized listings in your country on the same date, compare the same storage tier where available, and account for taxes, warranty coverage, and promotions. The sources cited here do not establish a current, like-for-like price gap for a particular country.

Which phone fits which buyer?

  • Consider the iPhone 17 Pro if you prefer a smaller listed display, the Apple platform, three 48MP rear cameras, and built-in zoom described by Apple as up to 8x optical-quality.
  • Consider the vivo X300 Ultra if you want a larger, higher-resolution listed display, a 6,600mAh stated battery capacity, 200MP 35mm and 85mm cameras, or the option to add compatible long-reach telephoto extenders.
  • Compare locally before choosing on price. The available price examples do not represent matching markets or storage tiers, and current prices can differ from launch or dated regional figures.

Neither specification sheet establishes a tested winner for camera quality, battery endurance, or sustained performance. Choose based on the hardware and ecosystem priorities that matter to you, then verify local pricing and availability.
