AppDynamics announced a $50 million Series D financing round on January 23, 2013, led by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP). Greylock Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Lightspeed Venture Partners also took part. The company said it would use the capital to expand internationally, develop its products, and hire more staff.
Who invested in AppDynamics’ Series D?
IVP led the round, joining three existing investors: Greylock Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. AppDynamics described the financing as growth capital. AppDynamics’ January 23, 2013 announcement contains the company’s account of the round.
What did AppDynamics plan to do with the funding?
The company named three priorities: expanding its enterprise business globally, increasing research and development, and accelerating hiring. CEO Jyoti Bansal said demand was rising among organizations looking for an application performance management platform able to scale with their growth.
What was AppDynamics selling, and how large was it then?
AppDynamics sold application-performance-management (APM) software for complex, business-critical applications. APM tools help organizations monitor application performance and identify problems that can affect users or business transactions.
