Anthropic says it will commit $100 million to Claude Frontier Academy and aims to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027. The first offering, the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, is a nomination-based program for engineers at participating organizations—not an open course for individual enrollment.
What Anthropic announced
Anthropic announced Claude Frontier Academy on October 2, 2026. The company says its $100 million commitment will support the Academy and that it aims to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027. Those are company commitments and a future target, not verified spending or completed training results. The announcement does not specify how the money will be allocated, give a per-participant cost, or report completion rates or measured business outcomes. Anthropic’s announcement
What the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency involves
The initial program is designed around applied enterprise work. Anthropic likens the approach to medical training: participants learn from practitioners, work through realistic cases, and are assessed before taking on a deployment in their organization. It has two stages.
1. In-person instruction and a simulated deployment
Participants begin with several days of in-person training led by Anthropic engineers and licensed instructors. They work through a simulated enterprise deployment, from selecting a use case through security review and handover, then complete a graded practical exercise on a new scenario. Participants who pass earn a Claude Resident Engineer badge and proceed to the residency.

2. A 12-week workplace residency
During the 12-week residency, successful participants lead a real Claude use case at their own organization, with support from Anthropic engineers and learning alongside their cohort. A final assessment comes before the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge. Anthropic said it expected the first badges in early 2027; that is a forecast, not confirmation that badges have already been awarded. Program details from Anthropic
Who can participate—and how organizations can inquire
The stated audience is hands-on software engineers nominated by their organizations. Anthropic says candidates should have strong engineering fundamentals, experience building with large language models, and experience helping others adopt AI. Prior experience building AI agents is not required.
Rank #2
Anthropic describes organizational nomination rather than public individual enrollment. An interested organization should ask its Anthropic account team or Partner Account Manager whether it is eligible. The announcement does not publish an open application route or a complete eligibility rulebook.
Where the first cohorts are running
Anthropic says its first cohorts are running in San Francisco, New York, and London. The company names Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk among the participating organizations. This is the roster in Anthropic’s launch announcement, not an independently verified enrollment list.
What the $100 million figure does—and does not—tell you
Anthropic has not published a spending breakdown for the Academy. The $100 million commitment should not be divided by the 10,000-person goal to infer a cost or budget per engineer: the company has not said that all of the commitment is a direct training budget or that it will be distributed evenly. Nor does the announced target establish how many engineers have enrolled, completed the program, or delivered business results.
The Academy builds on Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network. In a March 12, 2026 announcement, Anthropic described that network as offering training courses, dedicated technical support, and joint market development for customer deployments. It also said qualified partners could be listed in a Services Partner Directory for enterprise buyers. Organizations exploring Claude implementation support can ask their Anthropic account team or Partner Account Manager about both Academy eligibility and relevant partner options; the available announcements do not establish public Academy signup or referral terms. How this differs from a typical online AI course
Based on Anthropic’s description, this is an employer-linked training and deployment program, not simply a self-paced course or standalone certification. Its defining elements are organizational nomination, in-person instruction, a simulated enterprise deployment, practical assessments, and a supported project using Claude at the participant’s workplace. Anthropic has not stated that the badges are an external accreditation or compared the program’s outcomes with other training options.
