Ansoft announced Serenade 7.5 in February 1998 as a PC-based RF and high-frequency circuit-design suite for Windows 95 and Windows NT. The release added faster harmonic-balance analysis, modulation tools, filter synthesis and stability analysis. Its platform and pricing details are historical; the available sources do not establish whether the software is still sold or supported.
What was Ansoft Serenade 7.5?
Serenade 7.5 was an engineering suite for designing and analyzing high-frequency circuits used in areas such as cellular phones, pagers, wireless LANs, satellite communications and telecommunications. Announced by Ansoft on February 9, 1998, and reported by EE Times on February 25, it updated Serenade 7.0.
The software brought schematic capture, circuit analysis, optimization and layout into one graphical environment. Ansoft also said it could be used with the company’s HFSS and Maxwell Strata electromagnetic field solvers to account for electromagnetic coupling in circuit analysis. A later technical study in Microwave Journal used Serenade 7.5 for linear analysis of a two-port passive circuit in a MOSFET power-amplifier design.
What did Serenade 7.5 add?
Faster nonlinear harmonic-balance analysis
Ansoft introduced a Krylov-subspace harmonic-balance engine intended to handle more nonlinear devices and spectral components. The company claimed speed and memory improvements of 4× for typical circuits and 10× or more for large circuits. These were vendor claims in the 1998 announcement, not independently established benchmarks.

Modulation analysis and visualization
Built-in modulation sources covered GMSK, BPSK, QPSK, DQPSK and OQPSK, with support for GSM, IS-54, IS-95 and other standards. The release also included adjacent-channel power ratio (ACPR) calculation and optimization, spectrum plots, eye diagrams and constellation plots for modulated RF circuits.
Filter synthesis
Integrated synthesis supported stepped-impedance, interdigital, hairpin, stub, combline and edge-coupled filters, with multiple prototype responses.

Could Serenade 7.5 run on Windows 95?
Yes. Ansoft announced availability for Windows 95 and Windows NT in spring 1998. A July 1998 Electronic Design advertisement likewise promoted a demo disk for those two operating systems and described the software as “UNIX-Class Power on the PC Desktop.” These are historical platform statements, not evidence of compatibility with current Windows versions or present-day support.
