Verdict: The Anko LD-K3068 is a discontinued 1.7 L Wi‑Fi kettle with an unusually broad feature set for its price class: five selectable temperatures, a 40-minute keep-warm mode, app-based remote start, and voice compatibility with Google Assistant and Alexa. The trade-off is evidence of connection dropouts, repeated alert beeps and finish or durability complaints from owners. Its 3.6/5 rating from 13 ProductReview reviews is mixed rather than reassuring. If you need a kettle you can buy new today, a current non-smart 1.7 L model is the lower-risk choice.

What the Anko LD-K3068 is—and whether it is still available

The LD-K3068 is a cordless 1.7 L electric kettle sold under Anko, Kmart’s house brand. The official manual identifies it as a “Wi-fi Cordless Water Kettle” and gives the model number LD-K3068. Its defining feature is not simply a phone app: it combines Wi‑Fi remote start with selectable heating temperatures and a keep-warm function.

The model is discontinued. Both ProductReview and the CHOICE comparison index list it as no longer current, so a normal Kmart store purchase should not be expected. Any remaining listing is likely old stock, an open-box unit or a second-hand sale. That changes the buying decision: you must assess the kettle’s condition, Australian voltage compatibility, return terms and whether the associated app service still works, rather than assuming the one-year warranty or cloud functions will be useful.

Key specifications at a glance

Specification or feature LD-K3068 detail What it means in practice
Capacity 1.7 L Enough for several mugs or a large saucepan, but do not exceed the kettle’s marked maximum.
Power 1850–2200 W Typical high-power domestic-kettle range; actual heating time depends on fill level, starting-water temperature and mains conditions.
Temperature presets 80, 85, 90, 95 and 100 °C Five fixed choices rather than a continuously adjustable temperature.
Keep-warm 40 minutes at the selected temperature Useful when serving several drinks, but it is a timed hold, not an all-day hot-water function.
Smart control Wi‑Fi and app remote start You can initiate a heating cycle from the app when the kettle is ready to operate.
Voice control Google Assistant and Alexa compatibility Voice commands are available only after the kettle, app account and voice-service integration have been configured.
Weight 0.8 kg listed That is the stated kettle weight; water adds up to about 1.7 kg at full capacity.
Cord length 78 cm Check that your outlet and bench layout can accommodate the base without tension on the lead.
Warranty One year The stated coverage was time-limited; on a discontinued or used unit, confirm whether any warranty remains transferable.
Current status Discontinued Availability, replacement parts and app support cannot be assumed.

What you can heat, and how precisely

The five presets are 80, 85, 90, 95 and 100 °C. That is useful when you want water below a full boil, but it is important to understand the control’s limits: the kettle offers five steps, not a free-form temperature dial. A recipe that calls for 87 °C has to be approximated with the nearest available setting.

Selected setting Typical use case Practical consideration
80 °C Lower-temperature infusions and drinks where freshly boiled water would be excessive Choose this when you specifically need a cooler pour; the kettle will not provide a finer adjustment.
85 °C General tea and coffee preparation that benefits from water below boiling A compromise setting when 80 °C is too cool and 90 °C is too hot.
90 °C Hot drinks requiring a near-boil without reaching 100 °C Useful for repeatable results, provided your recipe tolerates a five-degree step.
95 °C Very hot pours just under a full boil Leaves a small margin below the 100 °C setting.
100 °C Normal boiling for instant meals, black tea and cooking The kettle’s maximum preset; boiling time will vary with volume and conditions.

After heating, keep-warm maintains the chosen temperature for 40 minutes, according to CHOICE’s product record. That is long enough to pour multiple cups during breakfast or a meeting, but it is not a substitute for reheating after the timer expires. Keeping water hot also consumes electricity, so switch the kettle off when you no longer need the hold function.

How the smart functions are supposed to work

The LD-K3068 adds Wi‑Fi and app remote start to a conventional cordless kettle. In principle, you select a temperature in the app, start the cycle remotely and receive the kettle’s status through the connected service. Google Assistant and Alexa compatibility extends that control to voice commands once the relevant account linking has been completed.

The available product record confirms those capabilities but does not publish a current, step-by-step app-pairing screen or guarantee ongoing cloud support. Because the model is discontinued, app menus, account requirements and server availability may change. Treat a live listing’s claim that “smart control” works as something to verify before paying, not as proof that the service is still maintained.

A safe operating routine

  1. Place the kettle on its supplied base, check the water level and close the lid as directed by the manual.
  2. Keep the base on a dry, stable bench with the 78 cm cord routed safely to the outlet.
  3. Use the kettle’s controls or the connected app to choose one of the five published temperatures.
  4. Start heating only when the kettle is correctly seated and there is enough water for the selected task. Do not use remote start as permission to leave an empty or incorrectly positioned kettle unattended.
  5. Use the 40-minute keep-warm option only when you need repeated pours, then cancel it or disconnect the kettle when finished.

These are safety-oriented operating steps, not a substitute for the original manual. A used unit should include readable instructions; if it does not, obtain the official LD-K3068 manual before relying on remote operation.

Can it really boil water remotely?

Yes, remote start is part of the published feature set. A positive ProductReview owner report says remote boiling was useful, which demonstrates that at least one owner achieved the intended function. That is user experience, not a controlled test, and it does not establish that every remaining unit or current app account will connect successfully.

Remote boiling also changes the safety context. A phone command cannot see whether the kettle is empty, overfilled, obstructed or sitting incorrectly on its base. Use remote start for a prepared kettle in a controlled setting, not as a way to heat water while nobody can respond to a fault. If you need a kettle that can be started safely without checking it first, this model’s smart feature is the wrong reason to buy.

Google Assistant and Alexa compatibility: what to verify

CHOICE lists compatibility with both Google Assistant and Alexa. Compatibility means the kettle can be linked to those platforms; it does not guarantee that every command, routine or regional account setup remains available after the product has been discontinued.

  • Confirm that the kettle can still be added to its companion app before attempting voice setup.
  • Check that the app offers an integration for your chosen voice assistant in your region.
  • Use a distinct device name so a voice command cannot be confused with another appliance.
  • Test a local command first, then test a remote command while you are present to confirm the kettle responds as expected.

If the app works but the voice assistant does not, the fault may be account linking rather than the kettle’s heating element. Conversely, a voice assistant may show the device as online while the kettle itself has lost Wi‑Fi, so verify the kettle’s status in the manufacturer’s app.

Connectivity problems and repeated beeps

ProductReview’s 13-owner sample averages 3.6/5. The reports are mixed: one owner praised remote boiling, while another described the kettle repeatedly going offline and producing beeps. These comments are valuable warning signs, but they are not laboratory reliability measurements and cannot predict the experience of every unit.

If the kettle keeps disconnecting

  1. Confirm that the kettle has power and that the base is seated correctly on the bench.
  2. Check the router and internet connection with another device. If the household network is offline, the kettle cannot receive app commands.
  3. Move the kettle temporarily closer to the router to distinguish a weak-signal problem from a kettle or service problem.
  4. Force-close and reopen the companion app, then check whether the device appears online.
  5. Follow the LD-K3068 manual’s reset and re-pair procedure. Do not guess at a reset combination on a used appliance if the manual is missing.
  6. If the kettle repeatedly drops offline after a successful re-pair, stop relying on remote start and use it as a conventional kettle—or return it if the seller’s policy allows.

The published material does not state the kettle’s supported Wi‑Fi band, security requirements or a current server status. Check those details in the manual or app before changing router settings. Avoid weakening your home network’s security merely to keep a discontinued appliance online.

What the beeps may mean

Owners have reported alert beeps, but the available evidence does not map each sound to a specific fault code. Record when the beep occurs—at power-on, after boiling, during a disconnect or while idle—and consult the manual. If the sound continues with the kettle empty, unplug the base and seek a return or service assessment rather than repeatedly restarting it.

Boiling speed, noise and build quality: what is known

The LD-K3068 is rated at 1850–2200 W, which places it in the normal high-power range for a 1.7 L household kettle. That rating alone cannot establish a precise boil time: heating a full 1.7 L from cold takes longer than heating one mug, and mains voltage, starting-water temperature and altitude also matter.

CHOICE’s detailed boil and ease scores are behind its member area, so a public claim that the LD-K3068 is “fast” or “quiet” would go beyond the available evidence. The owner reports do mention beeps, but they do not provide a controlled noise measurement. Likewise, the 3.6/5 owner rating and individual finish or durability complaints suggest caution without proving a universal defect rate.

For a used example, inspect the lid hinge, water-level markings, handle, base contacts, filter and stainless or painted surfaces. Look for scale buildup, cracked plastic, a loose lid or corrosion around the base. A smart feature cannot compensate for a kettle that is physically unsafe or difficult to clean.

LD-K3068 versus a current Kmart 1.7 L stainless-steel kettle

A current Kmart 1.7L Stainless Steel Kettle was listed at $24 when accessed. It is a conventional, non-smart kettle with a concealed element, dry-boil protection, removable filter, 360-degree base and a 12-month warranty. It does not provide the LD-K3068’s Wi‑Fi, app, voice control, variable-temperature presets or 40-minute keep-warm feature.

This is not an equal-feature comparison. The discontinued Anko is the choice only if remote control and lower-temperature heating matter enough to justify sourcing an older appliance. The current Kmart model is the more straightforward purchase when you want a basic 1.7 L kettle, dry-boil protection and a current warranty.

Should you buy a used or leftover LD-K3068?

Buy only when the smart functions are optional rather than essential. If the app service disappears, the kettle should still be usable manually; if manual operation is not demonstrated, walk away.

  • Verify the exact model: the label should say LD-K3068, not merely “Anko smart kettle.”
  • Check voltage: confirm Australian 220–240 V compatibility. Do not import a visually identical 110–120 V appliance for use on Australian mains.
  • Test the basics: inspect the base, fill and boil a small amount of water, confirm the lid closes securely and check that the kettle switches off as expected.
  • Test connectivity before paying: pair the app if possible, observe whether the device stays online and try a supervised remote start.
  • Listen for abnormal alerts: repeated unexplained beeps or frequent offline status are reasons to reject the unit.
  • Inspect condition: reject cracked plastic, damaged contacts, corrosion, a leaking lid or a loose handle.
  • Get the return policy in writing: a seller offering “as-is” stock transfers the reliability risk to you.
  • Do not assume warranty coverage: the original one-year warranty may have expired and may not transfer to a second owner.

Paying a premium for a rare discontinued model makes little sense if you only need boiling water. Its value comes from the combination of remote start, voice control and five temperature choices; without those functions, a current conventional kettle is simpler to replace and support.

Who the LD-K3068 suits—and who should skip it

It may suit you if:

  • You specifically want to start heating from an app or through Google Assistant or Alexa.
  • You regularly prepare drinks at 80–95 °C rather than always boiling to 100 °C.
  • You can buy a verified Australian-voltage unit with a return option.
  • You are comfortable treating Wi‑Fi as a convenience, not a safety-critical function.

Choose a current conventional kettle instead if:

  • You need a new appliance with straightforward warranty support.
  • You cannot verify that the app and cloud service still work.
  • Repeated disconnections or alert beeps would be unacceptable in your kitchen.
  • You do not need variable temperatures or remote operation.

Bottom line

The Anko LD-K3068 remains interesting because it combines a full 1.7 L capacity, five temperature presets, a 40-minute keep-warm timer and smart remote control in one inexpensive-kettle format. But it is discontinued, its public owner evidence is mixed at 3.6/5 from 13 reviews, and reports of dropouts and beeps make reliability uncertain. Treat any remaining unit as a used-appliance purchase: verify the exact model, 220–240 V rating, physical condition, app operation and return rights. For most buyers who simply need a dependable kettle now, the documented current Kmart 1.7L stainless-steel model is the safer category choice, even though it gives up the Anko’s smart and variable-temperature features.
