Use Investigation Leader’s Rest first, then build Lunar stacks with Crescendo, max Joker’s passive, activate Best Friend, and fire Joker’s nuke. That sequence is the current community-recommended Persona burst loop for bosses and late waves. It only works reliably when your units, buffs, debuffs, and crowd-control choices do not interfere with one another, so the guide below separates confirmed requirements from patch-sensitive community reports.
The Persona nuke loop at a glance
The Persona team’s damage comes from preparing several conditions before spending a one-time or long-cooldown burst. Do not open with Joker’s nuke as soon as it is available. First create the highest-value state for Investigation Leader, build Lunar stacks, fill Joker’s passive requirement, and place the Best Friend effect immediately before the final activation.
- Use Rest on Investigation Leader.
- Use another available ability after Rest.
- Use Crescendo to build Lunar stacks to the desired maximum.
- Raise Joker’s passive condition to its maximum.
- Activate Best Friend.
- Trigger Joker’s nuke while Best Friend and the other prepared effects are active.
This order is taken from recent community gameplay discussion rather than an official developer rotation. Names, timings, and damage values can change with a patch, so read the live ability text before committing a run.

The recommended core contains four units. Their jobs are different: Investigation Leader establishes the opening damage state, Joker supplies the finishing nuke, Phantom Thief contributes Demon Controller effects and a separate burst, and Apathetic Savior provides support and control.

The exact interaction between every effect is not documented in an official Persona-specific reference. Treat the table as a practical team-building summary, not a guarantee that every listed effect multiplies every hit.
Requirements and how players currently obtain the units
There is no single, universally documented unlock checklist for the complete team. Available progression information points to dungeon and raid content, with the following community-reported gates and rates:

“10%” should be read as a reported per-drop chance, not a guarantee after ten attempts. Event rotations, pity systems, difficulty modifiers, or revised tables may change the real requirement. Check the in-game stage information and the latest official changelog before farming specifically for a percentage.

Prepare the run before you spend a nuke
Bring an economy unit
Use a farm unit to fund upgrades. The Persona package wants several expensive placements and enough levels to build passives and support effects before the boss arrives. A farm unit also prevents an early decision between upgrading a damage dealer and keeping enough currency for the final support activation.
Reserve a control or backup-damage slot
The four-unit core does not remove the need for crowd control. Keep one slot for a control unit or a second damage source when the map has fast enemies, stuns, or split lanes. A control slot is especially valuable when the boss cannot be killed by one prepared nuke and the team must survive another cycle.

Check compatibility before placement
- Confirm that Phantom Thief’s Wounded effect will remain on targets for the planned burst.
- Do not add an effect that removes or overwrites the debuff you are relying on.
- Check that Best Friend can be activated immediately before Joker’s nuke rather than several waves early.
- Read cooldown indicators so Phantom Thief’s long cooldown is available for the boss window.
- Make sure your support and control placements leave a legal position for every required Demon Controller.
Exact step-by-step boss rotation
1. Cast Rest on Investigation Leader
Rest is the first button because the current community recommendation specifically uses it to maximize Investigation Leader’s damage. Wait until the intended target group or boss is in range if Rest has a meaningful duration or target condition in your current version. Using it on a minor wave can leave the main burst without the opening damage state.
2. Use another ability
The recommended wording calls for “any ability” after Rest. In practice, choose an ability that does not consume the boss window, displace the target, or remove a debuff you still need. If your client shows a different sequencing requirement, follow the current in-game description; this step is the least precisely documented part of the rotation.

Use Crescendo to build Lunar stacks before the final nuke. Do not assume that one activation equals maximum stacks: watch the stack display and continue the available buildup until the value is capped or the ability text says the condition is complete. If the boss is about to leave range, delay the final activation until the target is secured rather than firing into a partial stack state.
4. Maximize Joker’s passive
Joker’s passive is another gate in the loop. The practical check is the passive indicator, not the passage of time. Build it to maximum before activating Best Friend. A partially filled passive wastes the support window and can force you to wait for another cycle.
5. Activate Best Friend immediately before the nuke
Best Friend should be the last preparation button. Triggering it too early risks its duration expiring while stacks or the passive are still being built. Confirm its active icon, then move directly to the nuke input.

6. Fire Joker’s nuke
With Rest’s setup, maximum Lunar stacks, Joker’s full passive, and Best Friend active, trigger Joker’s nuke. If the boss has a temporary shield, immunity, or invulnerability phase, wait for that state to end; the rotation cannot recover damage spent into an invalid target.

Save Investigation Leader’s one-time nuke and Phantom Thief’s long-cooldown nuke for the target that justifies them unless the wave is already lost without an emergency cast. The reported Phantom Thief cooldown is 60 seconds, so an early cast may not return before the boss. Investigation Leader’s reported 2000% value is also described as one-time, making timing more important than convenience.
Why the order matters
The sequence is a dependency chain rather than a list of independent attacks. Rest establishes Investigation Leader’s preferred damage state. Crescendo then builds Lunar stacks while the team is still preparing. Joker’s passive is checked only after the stack-building work is complete, and Best Friend is held until the final moment so its buff overlaps the nuke instead of the setup.
Investigation Leader’s reported buffs are aimed at Demon Controller units. That is why Phantom Thief belongs in the core package and why replacing a Demon Controller with an unrelated damage unit can lower the value of the team-wide setup even if the replacement has a larger personal hit. The exact multiplier behavior remains patch-sensitive and should be confirmed in the current ability descriptions.
Skill-tree priorities
No complete official Persona-specific node map or exact cost list is available in the current evidence. A current Anime Vanguards tower guide demonstrates a damage-first ordering for an Unbound autoplay build: Loner → Ultimate Power → Amplifier → Max Output. Use that order as a general allocation principle only, not as a claim that Persona has identical nodes.

Apply the principle safely
- Identify nodes that increase damage or improve the unit’s ultimate condition.
- Take broadly useful damage nodes before narrow utility nodes when your goal is a boss nuke.
- Compare a node’s cost with the number of rounds in which the effect will actually be active.
- Keep enough points for required pathing nodes instead of spending every point on a minor early bonus.
- Test the rotation after each meaningful change and record whether the nuke reaches the intended threshold.
Refund mistakes instead of rebuilding the account
The same tower-guide evidence states that skill points are refundable. If the live Persona tree confirms that behavior, use a refund to move from a farming or autoplay setup into a burst setup before a boss run. Verify the refund fee, cooldown, or any version-specific restriction in the client; those details were not established.

Why Luffy can break this plan
A recent community discussion warns that Luffy removes Wounded supplied by Phantom Thief. If your boss plan depends on Wounded, placing Luffy can erase the condition before Joker or Phantom Thief finishes the target. The practical rule is simple: exclude Luffy from a Wounded-dependent Persona run unless the current client explicitly shows that the interaction has changed.
When crowd control is the priority, the same discussion suggests Jotaro instead. That is a role-based substitution, not a universal claim that Jotaro is always stronger. Use it when holding enemies in range matters more than adding another effect that could conflict with Wounded.
Common failure modes and fixes
The nuke hits for less than expected
- Check whether Rest was used before the damage window.
- Verify Lunar stacks are actually at maximum.
- Check Joker’s passive indicator rather than assuming it filled.
- Confirm Best Friend was active at the instant of the nuke.
- Look for a boss shield, immunity, or phase transition.
- Remove units that overwrite Phantom Thief’s Wounded effect.
Best Friend expires before the cast
Build stacks and Joker’s passive first. Activate Best Friend only when the boss is in range and the nuke input is ready. If a control effect is required, apply it before Best Friend so the support window is not consumed by setup.

Phantom Thief’s debuff disappears
Inspect the team for Luffy or any newly added unit that removes Wounded. Also check whether the boss cleanses debuffs during a phase transition. If the effect is removed by a mechanic rather than a teammate, schedule Phantom Thief’s cast after the cleanse.
The boss survives the first cycle
Keep the economy unit active long enough to fund a second damage source or control unit. Because the reported Phantom Thief cooldown is 60 seconds and Investigation Leader’s nuke is one-time, a failed opening may require ordinary sustained damage while those resources recover or cannot be repeated.
The run lacks crowd control
Replace a nonessential damage slot with a controller, or use the community-suggested Jotaro when you need to hold enemies in place. Do not sacrifice the farm unit unless the map’s starting economy makes upgrades possible without it.

Patch-check checklist
Persona kits and drop tables are patch-sensitive. Before a serious farming session or guide-based challenge, verify:
- Investigation Leader’s current nuke percentage and whether it is still one-time.
- Whether the 100% damage and 50% critical-damage Demon Controller buffs remain unchanged.
- Phantom Thief’s cooldown, Rupture, Wounded, slow, Overshield removal, and first-placement behavior.
- Apathetic Savior’s current support, control, and familiar-slot behavior.
- Joker’s passive condition, Best Friend duration, and nuke trigger.
- Lunar Bridge floor requirements and displayed drop rates.
- Persona skill-tree nodes, costs, and refund rules.
Use the live in-game descriptions and the latest official changelog for final confirmation. The 2000% Investigation Leader figure, 60-second Phantom Thief cooldown, and 10% Lunar Bridge rates are all community-reported 2026 values, not permanent guarantees.
A practical pre-boss checklist
- Farm unit placed and economy stabilized.
- Investigation Leader, Joker, Phantom Thief, and Apathetic Savior available if using the full package.
- Extra control or backup damage selected for the map.
- No Luffy if Phantom Thief’s Wounded effect is required.
- Rest, Crescendo, Joker passive, Best Friend, and nuke buttons all ready.
- Phantom Thief’s long cooldown reserved for the boss window.
- Boss not currently shielded, immune, or leaving the attack area.
If every item is checked, execute the sequence without inserting unrelated casts between Best Friend and Joker’s nuke. That minimizes the chance that a temporary buff, stack, or debuff expires before the damage lands.
