Fast Pair will only work when the accessory supports Google Fast Pair, is powered on and actively in pairing mode, and the Android phone has Bluetooth, Location, nearby-device scanning, notifications, and an internet connection available. Keep the accessory within 0.5 m (1.6 ft) of the phone. If the notification still does not appear, pair it through Settings > Connected devices > Pair new device; this creates a normal Bluetooth connection without the Fast Pair pop-up.
What Fast Pair does—and what it does not do
Google Fast Pair is a Bluetooth Low Energy service that helps a nearby Android phone discover a compatible accessory and start pairing from a notification. It reduces the number of menus you must open, but it is not a separate radio or a guarantee that every Bluetooth product will display a prompt.
A generic Bluetooth headset, speaker, keyboard, mouse, or car system may work perfectly through the regular Bluetooth settings and still never show a Fast Pair notification. The accessory must implement Fast Pair and advertise that support. Packaging for compatible products often uses the wording “Made by Google” or “Made for Google,” although the exact label depends on the manufacturer.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Fast Pair also depends on ordinary Bluetooth pairing conditions. The accessory has to be switched on, charged enough to remain discoverable, and in its pairing mode. If it has an existing connection to another phone or tablet, it may stop advertising before your phone can see it. A previous pairing can require the manufacturer’s forget, reset, or factory-reset procedure before a new Fast Pair attempt.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Prerequisites to check before troubleshooting
| Requirement | What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Fast Pair support | The accessory explicitly supports Google Fast Pair. | Unsupported products can pair manually but cannot generate the Fast Pair notification. |
| Accessory state | It is powered on, charged, and in pairing mode. | Fast Pair discovery cannot start if the accessory is asleep, already connected, or not advertising. |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth is enabled on the phone. | The phone needs Bluetooth to discover and complete the connection. |
| Location | Location is enabled for the phone. | Google’s automatic-pairing flow lists Location as a prerequisite for nearby discovery. |
| Internet | The phone is online through Wi-Fi or mobile data. | Google’s setup and account-association flow expects network connectivity. |
| Nearby-device scanning | “Scan for nearby devices” is enabled in Google services settings. | Disabling this scan prevents the nearby-device check that triggers the prompt. |
| Notifications | Notifications for the relevant Google services are allowed. | The accessory can be discovered while the notification itself is suppressed if notifications are blocked. |
| Distance | Phone and accessory are within 0.5 m (1.6 ft). | Google specifies this distance for the notification check. |
| Android version | Android 6.0 or later for the documented automatic-pairing flow. | Some Fast Pair steps are limited to Android 10 and newer. |
Android manufacturers rename menus and place Google services controls in different locations. The labels below are the standard Google paths; if your phone uses a customized interface, use Settings search for “Fast Pair,” “nearby devices,” “scan,” or “Google services.”
Fix Fast Pair in the order most likely to work
1. Confirm that the accessory is actually ready
- Charge the accessory sufficiently. Low battery can cause it to turn off or leave pairing mode while you are testing.
- Turn it on and deliberately enter pairing mode. Many products use a long press on the power or Bluetooth button, while others require opening the charging case; follow the manufacturer’s indicator-light or tone instructions.
- Move it away from phones, tablets, computers, televisions, or cars that may reconnect automatically.
- If it has been paired before, use the manufacturer’s forget, reset, or factory-reset procedure. A remembered connection can keep it from advertising as a new device.
Do not proceed on the assumption that a powered-on accessory is discoverable. “On” and “in pairing mode” are separate states, and Fast Pair needs the latter.
2. Enable the phone’s Bluetooth, Location, and network connection
- Open Settings > Connected devices (or the equivalent Bluetooth page) and turn Bluetooth on.
- Open the phone’s Location control and turn Location on.
- Connect to Wi-Fi or enable mobile data, then confirm that a webpage or another online service loads.
- Return to the home screen so the phone can display a nearby-device notification while the accessory is advertising.
Google’s automatic-pairing help lists Android 6.0 or higher. The broader Fast Pair instructions note that some functions only work on Android 10 and later, so an older phone can have fewer prompts or account features even when basic Bluetooth pairing is available.

3. Restore nearby-device scanning
Google services include a nearby-device scan separate from the main Bluetooth switch. On many phones, open the Google services settings, choose Devices, and enable Scan for nearby devices. The exact route varies by Android release and manufacturer, so Settings search for “nearby devices” is often faster.
If the scan is already enabled, switch it off and back on, then retry with the accessory in pairing mode. This re-establishes the setting without changing existing Bluetooth connections.
4. Allow the notification that starts Fast Pair
Fast Pair’s visible entry point is a notification. Open the phone’s notification settings and re-enable notifications for Google services or the system component responsible for nearby-device prompts. On some versions, the permission is grouped under device-connection or nearby-device notifications rather than a standalone “Fast Pair” label.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Blocking notifications does not remove the manual pairing route. It only prevents the convenient pop-up from appearing, so you can still connect through Settings > Connected devices > Pair new device.
5. Put the phone extremely close
Place the phone within 0.5 m (1.6 ft) of the accessory, ideally next to it rather than across a room. Google specifies this maximum distance for the notification check. Keep the accessory in pairing mode for the entire attempt and temporarily move other Bluetooth devices away if they might capture its connection.
Distance is a discovery condition, not merely an audio-quality suggestion. A headset can be visible from farther away through ordinary Bluetooth scanning while still failing to trigger the Fast Pair notification check.
6. Retry after removing competing connections
Turn off Bluetooth temporarily on nearby devices that have used the accessory, or disconnect the accessory from them. Then place the accessory back into pairing mode and repeat the close-range attempt. If it reconnects immediately to an old device, your Android phone may never receive its Fast Pair advertisement.
When testing earbuds, keep both earbuds in the case or follow the maker’s stated pairing sequence. Some models advertise only after a case button is held, while others require the lid to remain open.

When the Fast Pair pop-up does not appear
A missing notification does not prove that Bluetooth pairing is impossible. Work through these distinctions:

- The accessory is unsupported: It may be a normal Bluetooth product with no Fast Pair implementation. Manual pairing is the expected method.
- The accessory is not advertising: It is off, out of charge, connected elsewhere, or not in pairing mode.
- The phone cannot perform the nearby check: Bluetooth, Location, internet access, scanning, or notifications are disabled.
- The phone is too far away: Move it within 0.5 m (1.6 ft).
- A saved association is involved: Fast Pair may treat the product as a known accessory on an account-signed-in device rather than as a first-time setup.
After each change, start a fresh pairing-mode cycle instead of leaving the accessory idle and waiting indefinitely. Pairing mode often times out.
Pair manually when Fast Pair fails
Manual pairing bypasses the Fast Pair notification while using the phone’s standard Bluetooth connection. It is the correct fallback for an unsupported accessory and a practical workaround when a supported product’s pop-up is not displayed.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Connected devices.
- Tap Pair new device. On some phones this is labeled Pair new device inside a Bluetooth submenu.
- Put the accessory in pairing mode and wait for it to appear under Available devices.
- Tap the accessory’s name. If Android requests a code, use the code shown by the accessory or its manufacturer’s instructions.
- Accept the pairing request and wait for the status to change to connected or paired.
If the name is absent from Available devices, return to the physical-state checks: charge it, reset a previous pairing if necessary, remove competing connections, and re-enter pairing mode. Manual pairing cannot discover an accessory that is not advertising.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11A successful manual connection does not make the accessory Fast Pair-compatible. It simply establishes a conventional Bluetooth relationship; future automatic prompts remain dependent on support for Google’s service and the phone’s prerequisites.
Check Google Account and saved-device associations
Fast Pair can associate compatible accessories with a Google Account. After an accessory is set up, a later Android device signed in to the same account may recognize it and offer a subsequent-pairing prompt. This is useful when replacing a phone, but a stale association can make a clean setup confusing.
Review saved accessories
Open Google services settings, choose Devices, and then Saved Devices. Review the listed accessories and remove an entry only when you are intentionally clearing an old or incorrect association. Menu names can differ by Android release.

Use the same account on the second phone
For the subsequent-pairing behavior, the second phone must be signed in to the same Google Account used when the accessory was saved. A different account will not receive that account-based recognition, even if Bluetooth and Location are enabled.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSeparate account recognition from Bluetooth state
Removing a saved entry does not replace the accessory’s physical reset procedure. If the product remains connected to another device, you still need to disconnect or reset it and put it into pairing mode before attempting setup again.
Android 12 and certain LE Audio failures
Some failures are platform limitations rather than incorrect settings. Google’s known-issues documentation identifies a problem involving certain LE Audio headsets that use CTKD (Cross-Transport Key Derivation) for BREDR-to-LE on phones using the Android 12 Bluetooth stack.
This case can look like an ordinary Fast Pair failure even after Bluetooth, Location, scanning, notifications, account, distance, and pairing-mode checks are correct. The limitation concerns the interaction between the headset’s LE Audio implementation and that Android 12 stack; repeatedly toggling the same settings will not change the underlying compatibility.
- Install available Android updates for the phone.
- Install the accessory’s firmware update when the manufacturer provides one.
- Check whether the manufacturer documents a hardware reset or an LE Audio compatibility requirement.
- If the issue persists on a fully updated device, contact the accessory manufacturer or Google support with the phone model, Android version, headset model, and whether the failure occurs during first pairing or a later connection.
Do not assume every LE Audio problem is this specific Android 12 limitation. Use it as an escalation path after the consumer checks have passed and only when the headset and phone fit the documented conditions.
How to choose a replacement accessory if the original will not pair
Replace the accessory only after confirming that the phone can discover and pair with another Bluetooth device or that the original product is unsupported or defective. Use the following criteria rather than assuming that every new Bluetooth model includes Fast Pair.

| Decision point | What to look for | Why it affects setup |
|---|---|---|
| Explicit Fast Pair support | Packaging or specifications clearly state Google Fast Pair support. | Without it, expect manual Bluetooth pairing and no Fast Pair notification. |
| Android compatibility | Compatibility information for the Android version on your phone. | Fast Pair steps and account features vary by Android release. |
| LE Audio support | Whether LE Audio is supported and which phone versions are listed. | LE Audio behavior can differ from classic Bluetooth and has a documented Android 12 limitation in one CTKD scenario. |
| Multipoint behavior | Whether the accessory can maintain connections to multiple devices and how it enters pairing mode. | An existing connection can prevent discovery by the new phone. |
| Firmware updates | A documented update method through the manufacturer. | Updates may address pairing defects or platform compatibility. |
| Hardware reset | Clear instructions for forgetting devices and restoring pairing mode. | A reliable reset gives you a recovery path when saved connections become stuck. |
A replacement should advertise Fast Pair explicitly if the pop-up is important to you. Otherwise, judge it as a conventional Bluetooth accessory and verify that its manual pairing instructions are clear.
Symptoms and the right next action
| Symptom | Most useful next action |
|---|---|
| No pop-up, but the accessory appears under Available devices | Pair it manually; investigate notifications, nearby-device scanning, and Fast Pair support afterward. |
| No pop-up and no listing under Available devices | Charge the accessory, reset or forget its old pairing, remove competing devices, and re-enter pairing mode at close range. |
| The accessory pairs with another phone but not this one | On this phone, enable Bluetooth, Location, internet access, nearby scanning, and notifications; then check the Android version. |
| The accessory was previously paired and will not reappear | Use the manufacturer’s forget/reset procedure and remove a stale Google services saved-device entry if appropriate. |
| A saved accessory is not recognized on a new phone | Sign in to the same Google Account used for the original setup and review Google services > Devices > Saved Devices. |
| An LE Audio headset fails on Android 12 after all checks pass | Update the phone and headset, then escalate to the manufacturer or Google because the Android 12 Bluetooth-stack limitation may apply. |
A clean retry sequence
When several settings have changed, use one controlled attempt so you know which condition matters:
- Disconnect the accessory from every nearby device and charge it.
- Remove its old pairing or perform the manufacturer’s reset procedure.
- On the Android phone, enable Bluetooth, Location, Wi-Fi or mobile data, nearby-device scanning, and notifications.
- Sign in to the intended Google Account if you want saved-device recognition on other phones.
- Place the phone within 0.5 m (1.6 ft) of the accessory.
- Enter the accessory’s pairing mode and wait briefly for the notification.
- If no notification appears, open Settings > Connected devices > Pair new device and select it from Available devices.
- If it is still absent, document the phone model, Android version, accessory model, firmware version, and whether another phone can see it before contacting support.
This sequence separates a missing Fast Pair prompt from a broader Bluetooth-discovery failure. If manual pairing succeeds, the radio connection works and the remaining issue is usually Fast Pair support, notification or scanning configuration, account state, or a platform-specific limitation.
What information to provide to support
Support can identify compatibility issues faster when the report includes:
- Phone manufacturer and model.
- Android version and security or system-update status.
- Accessory model, firmware version, and whether it is a standard Bluetooth or LE Audio product.
- Whether the accessory is advertised as supporting Google Fast Pair.
- Whether it appears under Available devices during manual pairing.
- Whether it pairs with another phone.
- Whether the failure occurs during first setup, after a reset, or when reconnecting a saved accessory.
- Whether the phone and accessory were within 0.5 m (1.6 ft), with Bluetooth, Location, scanning, notifications, and internet access enabled.
Those details distinguish an unsupported product from a notification problem, a stale saved association, a physical pairing-mode issue, and the documented Android 12 LE Audio limitation.
