Yes. Android 16’s Q2 2025 launch rumour was accurate: Google named Q2 as its planned release window, then announced Android 16 on June 10, 2025, with the rollout beginning on supported Pixel devices. Other manufacturers followed later, so the date a particular phone receives the update depends on its maker and model.
Was Android 16 really planned for Q2 2025?
Yes. In February 2025, Google’s Android Developers blog said the next major Android release had a planned launch in Q2 2025. The post also said Google planned another release with new developer APIs in Q4. That made Q2 an official target, not just an unauthorised rumour. Google’s February 2025 Android Developers post
When did Android 16 come out?
Google announced Android 16 on June 10, 2025, within the planned Q2 window. Rollout started on supported Pixel devices; other manufacturers followed later. The announcement date therefore does not mean every Android phone received the update that day. Google’s Android 16 announcement
Which phones got Android 16 first?
Supported Pixel devices were first in line. Google’s Android 16 beta-supported hardware list included Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, the Pixel 7, 8 and 9 series, Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. This list describes devices eligible for the beta programme; it is not a guarantee that every listed model received a stable update at the same time in every region.
