Analog Devices’ ADA4522-2 is a dual-channel zero-drift operational amplifier for precision circuits that need to run from supplies as high as 55 V. It combines low offset and offset drift with rail-to-rail output, ground-sensing inputs and on-chip EMI filtering. Its wide supply range distinguishes it from low-voltage alternatives such as the AD8552 and ADA4528-2.
What the ADA4522-2 is designed to do
The ADA4522 family is designed to maintain accuracy as temperature, time and supply voltage change. The ADA4522-2 contains two amplifier channels, making it useful when a design needs two precision signal paths or a paired measurement circuit. Analog Devices lists applications including LCR meters and megohmmeters, load-cell and bridge-transducer interfaces, shunt-current sensing, thermocouple and RTD circuits, PLC I/O, automotive sensors, on-board chargers, battery-management systems and traction inverters.
The part is specified for an operating temperature range of −40°C to +125°C. Analog Devices lists 8-lead MSOP and SOIC packages as well as 14-lead SOIC and TSSOP packages. Is the ADA4522-2 rail-to-rail?
Its output is rail-to-rail, while its input can sense ground. Those are separate properties: the output’s usable distance from a supply rail depends on load and operating conditions, and a ground-sensing input is not necessarily a rail-to-rail input. For a single-supply design, verify the input common-mode range at the highest input voltage as well as the output swing at the required load in the electrical-characteristics tables.
Choosing among ADA4522-2, AD8552 and ADA4528-2
These Analog Devices dual zero-drift amplifiers target different supply and noise needs. The ADA4522-2 is the high-voltage choice; the AD8552 targets low-voltage single-supply circuits; and the ADA4528-2 emphasizes low noise at low supply voltages.

Do not choose on offset alone: the AD8552’s lower stated offset and drift figures do not make it a substitute where the circuit needs a supply above 5 V. Likewise, the ADA4528-2’s lower stated 0.1–10 Hz noise figure comes from a different device and datasheet revision; compare full specifications under the conditions that match the design. The EVAL-ADA4522-2ARMZ is an evaluation board for the dual MSOP version. It configures both amplifier channels as noninverting amplifiers with a gain of 101 and includes a low-pass filter near 117 kHz to reduce 800 kHz chopping artifacts. It can help evaluate the part in that configured circuit, but it is not a substitute for validating the final design’s supply, input range, load, noise and layout.

Use the board if you want to assess the device or adapt its example circuit before laying out a prototype. If the goal is only to integrate the amplifier into a design whose requirements are already clear, consult the datasheet and build a circuit around the required gain and bandwidth instead. Practical selection checklist
- Choose the ADA4522-2 when the circuit needs two zero-drift channels and a supply anywhere within its 4.5–55 V single-supply range.
- Confirm the input common-mode range and output swing for the actual supply, signal range and load; “ground sensing” and “rail-to-rail output” do not imply every signal can reach every rail.
- Budget system error beyond amplifier offset: include resistor-network error, sensor error, bias-current effects, noise over the circuit bandwidth and temperature-related changes.
- Use the AD8552 for a suitable 2.7–5 V single-supply design, or compare the ADA4528-2 when the low-voltage supply envelope and its noise characteristics better match the application.
- Check the exact package drawing, pinout, electrical-characteristics conditions and ordering option before committing a PCB layout.
