Eligible U.S. Amazon Prime customers do not need to file a new claim to receive a settlement payment. The revised distribution is automatic for people who meet the FTC’s criteria, but $200 is the maximum total—not a guaranteed payout. The FTC says eligible consumers should receive payment by April 2027.
Who may qualify for an Amazon Prime settlement refund?
Current FTC guidance says you must meet all three conditions:

- You were a U.S. Amazon Prime customer.
- Between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, you used one of the challenged enrollment flows or unsuccessfully tried to cancel Prime online.
- After enrolling, you used no more than 20 Prime benefits in any 12-month period.
The challenged enrollment flows were the universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single-page checkout, and Prime Video enrollment flow. An unsuccessful online cancellation attempt can qualify independently of which signup flow you used. Simply having had a Prime membership during those years does not establish eligibility; Amazon’s records and the administrator’s determination control individual cases. Do you need to file a claim?
No new application, claim form, or response to a notice is required for the revised automatic distribution. The revised order also provides for payment to identified consumers who were eligible through the claims process but submitted an approved or invalid form—or submitted no form—if they have not already been paid and are not subject to a holdback. Do not pay a claim helper or submit another form to try to unlock a payment.

How much could you receive?
The FTC’s settlement with Amazon totals $2.5 billion: up to $1.5 billion is for consumer redress, while a separate $1 billion is a civil penalty. The redress pool is not divided into an equal, guaranteed payment for every Prime customer. The FTC reported that more than $845 million had been issued by September 2026.
The original consumer payment phases had a maximum of $51 per eligible customer. Under the September 2026 revised order, the total cap rises to $200, including people newly covered by the expansion to consumers who used 11–20 Prime benefits in a 12-month period. The actual amount depends on the applicable phase, eligibility, Prime fees, and payment status.

A further payment of up to $149 is conditional: it may be made to people who previously accepted a settlement payment if accepted payments have not reached the order’s $1 billion threshold by February 2027. That possible later payment is part of the $200 aggregate cap, not an additional guaranteed $149.
When and how will the payment arrive?
The FTC said the expanded automatic payments would start October 1, 2026, and that eligible customers should receive refunds by April 2027. The revised order’s schedule includes automatic escalation payments for the newly covered 11–20-benefit group, excluding people previously issued a settlement payment. Those payments must be accepted by March 5, 2027; unaccepted payments may be voided. If the accepted-payment threshold condition is met, later pro-rata payments to people who previously accepted a payment are to begin by the end of April 2027. Payments may be sent by PayPal, Venmo, or mailed check. Do not assume you can select a delivery method; follow the instructions in an actual payment notice and confirm that you can access the named account or the mailing address. The FTC says payments expire 60 days after issuance.

- Go directly to the FTC Amazon Prime refund page for current eligibility and distribution updates.
- For settlement administration details, use the official settlement site, SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com.
- For payment questions, the FTC lists admin@SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com as the administrator’s contact.
The administrator’s support information may help with a missing payment, a misdirected check, a notice you are unsure about, or a broken settlement portal. The FTC does not administer the payments; Amazon is responsible for the redress program.

How to avoid refund scams
The FTC says it is not contacting people about these refunds, and neither the FTC nor Amazon will ask you to pay money to release a refund. Treat unsolicited requests for fees, transfers, or sensitive account credentials as suspicious. Instead of clicking a message link, type the FTC address or official settlement-site address into your browser.
