Short answer: Choose the Amazfit Helio Strap if you value up to 10 days of advertised battery life, upper-arm workout wear, and live heart-rate broadcasting without a required subscription. Choose Google Fitbit Air if the lightest possible tracker, Google Health, and Pixel Watch integration matter more. Both start at about $99.99 in the US, so the better buy depends on how you train and which software ecosystem you already use.
At a glance: what separates Helio Strap and Fitbit Air
These are both screenless trackers, but they are designed around different ownership models. Helio Strap is positioned as a training and recovery sensor that can feed live heart-rate data to other equipment. Fitbit Air is a very small passive tracker whose information is presented through a phone and the Google Health app.
| Category | Amazfit Helio Strap | Google Fitbit Air |
|---|---|---|
| US starting price | $99.99, listed by Amazfit in 2026 | From $99.99, listed by Google in 2026 |
| Display | Screenless | Screenless |
| Advertised battery life | Up to 10 days | About one week |
| Published weight | 20 g for the banded device | 5.2 g without the band; about 12 g with a band |
| Wear locations | Wrist or upper arm | Primarily worn as a small passive tracker; the retrieved specifications do not establish an upper-arm mode |
| Heart-rate use | Continuous tracking and broadcast to compatible watches, treadmills, cycling computers, fitness equipment, and supported apps | Data is presented through the phone and Google Health app |
| Water resistance | 5 ATM | Final resistance rating was not stated in the available Google Store details; check Fitbit’s official specification page before buying for swimming or showering |
| Fit information | 145–205 mm wrist compatibility | Band-size range was not stated in the available Google Store details |
| Phone requirement | Uses Amazfit’s Zepp software and compatible integrations | Google Account and Google Health app required; Android 11 or later, or iOS 16.4 or later |
| Subscription | No required subscription | Core features work without a subscription; optional Google Health Premium is $9.99 per month or $99 per year according to Tom’s Guide’s 2026 pricing report |
Weight figures are not measured on the same basis: Helio’s 20 g figure includes its band, while Fitbit Air’s 5.2 g figure excludes the band. The approximately 12 g banded figure is the more useful comfort comparison, although band materials and fit still affect how each feels during sleep.
Choose Helio Strap when training data is the priority
Helio Strap’s strongest case is a workout workflow rather than a minimalist notification-free lifestyle. Its continuous heart-rate sensor can broadcast to compatible watches, treadmills, cycling computers, fitness equipment, and supported apps. That means you can leave the strap screenless while viewing live heart rate on equipment you are already using.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Upper-arm placement changes workout options
Amazfit lists both wrist and upper-arm wear. Upper-arm placement can be useful when a watch would interfere with gloves, lifting movements, handlebars, or other equipment. It also gives you a second placement to try if wrist wear becomes uncomfortable overnight. The product information does not establish that one location is universally more accurate, so treat placement as a comfort and compatibility choice rather than a guaranteed sensor advantage.
Broadcasting is different from simply recording
Many trackers collect data for later review. Helio Strap can also act as a live heart-rate source for compatible receiving devices. Before purchase, confirm that your watch, treadmill, bike computer, gym equipment, or app supports the broadcast protocol and pairing method Helio requires. “Compatible” is not universal: a device can have Bluetooth and still lack the profile needed to display an external heart-rate sensor.
Zepp is the center of the Helio experience
Helio’s training and recovery workflow is built around Amazfit’s Zepp software and its integrations. If you already keep workouts, readiness information, or other Amazfit devices in Zepp, Helio is the more coherent choice. If your training history lives elsewhere, check export and integration support before committing; the available product information confirms compatible integrations but does not list every third-party service.
Choose Fitbit Air when low weight and Google integration matter most
Fitbit Air is substantially lighter on the published figures. Android Central reports 5.2 g for the tracker without its band and about 12 g with a band. That is below Helio Strap’s 20 g banded figure and may be noticeable during sleep, under clothing, or when you dislike feeling a device on your wrist.
The lightest figure is not the complete worn weight
Comparing 5.2 g directly with 20 g would understate the mass of a worn Fitbit Air because the smaller number excludes the band. Use approximately 12 g as the practical Air comparison, then account for the band design, tightness, and where the tracker sits. A lighter tracker can still feel intrusive if the band rubs or must be tightened to keep the sensor in contact.
Google Health and Pixel Watch continuity
Google lists a Google Account and the Google Health app as requirements. Air therefore makes the most sense for someone who already wants health information in Google’s ecosystem or uses a Pixel Watch alongside phone-based health records. The retrieved information describes Air as relying on the phone and Google Health app for data presentation, rather than providing a live on-device display or a stated independent broadcast workflow like Helio’s.

Phone compatibility
Google’s 2026 listing specifies Android 11 or higher and iOS 16.4 or higher. Check the operating-system version on the phone that will receive Air data before ordering. A compatible phone is part of the product requirement, not merely an optional convenience.
Battery life and charging: 10 days versus about seven
Amazfit advertises Helio Strap for up to 10 days of battery life. “Up to” is a best-case claim: actual runtime changes with continuous sensing, workout frequency, broadcast use, notifications from the companion app, temperature, and battery age.
Android Central reports about one week for Fitbit Air. That is approximately three days shorter than Helio’s maximum claim, but the figures come from different product descriptions and reporting conditions, not a controlled head-to-head test. Neither number should be treated as a guaranteed interval for every user.
What the difference means in practice
- Helio’s longer stated ceiling can reduce charging interruptions during a training block or a week of sleep tracking.
- Air’s roughly seven-day expectation still covers a normal week for many users, but a long trip or frequent workouts may require more deliberate charging.
- Removing either device for charging creates gaps in sleep or recovery records, so schedule charging around a shower, desk session, or another routine.
Charging time
Android Central reports an approximately 90-minute full charge for Fitbit Air. The available Helio Strap details specify a 232 mAh battery but do not state a full-charge time. Do not infer Helio’s charging speed from battery capacity: capacity and charging duration are separate specifications.
Comfort, fit, and sleep tracking
For sleep tracking, the most useful device is the one you can wear consistently without loosening it, removing it, or waking up because of it. Fitbit Air has the lower published worn weight, while Helio Strap offers wrist and upper-arm placement plus a stated 145–205 mm wrist range.

Helio Strap fit considerations
The 145–205 mm range is the wrist compatibility Amazfit publishes. Measure around the place where you intend to wear the strap rather than relying on a watch-size estimate. If your wrist is outside that range, upper-arm use may be an alternative only if the supplied band and your intended placement fit securely; the product information does not provide a separate upper-arm measurement range.

Fitbit Air comfort considerations
Google’s retrieved Store information does not expose a final band-size range. Verify the official Fitbit specification page for available sizes before purchase, particularly if you have a very small or large wrist. The approximately 12 g banded weight reported by Android Central makes Air attractive for sleep, but comfort still depends on the band and sensor contact.
Screenless does not mean data-free
Neither tracker puts a display on your wrist. You will review trends, sleep information, and workout records in the companion software. That removes glanceable distractions during the day, but it also means you need a phone or another compatible receiving device to inspect results.
Subscriptions and the real cost of ownership
Neither product requires a monthly subscription for its core operation according to the available product and review information. Amazfit explicitly describes Helio Strap as having “No required subscription.” Tom’s Guide reports that Fitbit Air’s core features are available without Google Health Premium.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

Tom’s Guide lists Google Health Premium at $9.99 per month or $99 per year in 2026. It adds coaching and deeper insights, but it is an optional ownership cost rather than a prerequisite for using Air. Decide whether those additions have value for you before including the subscription in your budget.
A simple three-year cost view
| Scenario | Device cost | Optional service cost | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Helio Strap, core use | $99.99 US starting price | No required subscription | No recurring fee is required for the documented core workflow. |
| Fitbit Air, core use | From $99.99 US | $0 | Core Fitbit Air features are available without Premium. |
| Fitbit Air with Premium, monthly billing | From $99.99 US | $9.99 per month | Optional coaching and deeper insights add a recurring charge. |
| Fitbit Air with Premium, annual billing | From $99.99 US | $99 per year | Optional annual plan; availability and billing terms should be confirmed at purchase. |
The prices above are US figures reported or listed in 2026. Taxes, promotions, replacement bands, and regional pricing can change the amount you pay.
Water resistance and everyday wear
Amazfit lists Helio Strap at 5 ATM water resistance. That rating is a hardware specification, not a promise that every water activity is suitable; follow Amazfit’s care guidance for soaps, hot water, pressure, and drying.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
The available Google Store details do not establish Fitbit Air’s water-resistance rating or band-size range. If swimming, showering, or heavy rain is central to your decision, consult Fitbit’s official specification page for the exact Air rating and restrictions instead of assuming it matches Helio’s 5 ATM listing.
How to set up either tracker without losing your first data
The first setup should be treated as a data and fit check. A poor fit or missing permission can create gaps that look like sensor failures later.
- Check the phone requirement. For Fitbit Air, confirm Android 11 or later, or iOS 16.4 or later, and make sure you can sign in to a Google Account. For Helio Strap, prepare the phone on which you will install and use Zepp.
- Charge the tracker before pairing. Starting with a full charge gives the device time to complete firmware or setup tasks without interrupting the process.
- Install the correct companion app. Use Google Health for Fitbit Air and Zepp for Helio Strap. Sign in with the account you intend to keep using so your history is not split between accounts.
- Pair from inside the app. Follow the app’s pairing prompts rather than attempting to connect only from the phone’s general Bluetooth screen. Keep the tracker close to the phone during pairing.
- Set the wearing location and fit. Place Helio on the wrist or upper arm as intended. Wear Air according to Fitbit’s fitting guidance. The sensor should maintain consistent contact without being painfully tight.
- Allow the requested permissions. Health, Bluetooth, and background permissions can affect synchronization and workout data. Review the operating system’s battery restrictions if updates stop when the app is closed.
- Perform a short verification workout. For Helio, test a compatible receiving watch, treadmill, cycling computer, fitness device, or supported app before relying on live broadcasting. For Air, confirm that the phone receives a current reading in Google Health.
- Check synchronization after sleep. Review the next morning’s record while the tracker is nearby and the companion app is open. Early verification makes it easier to correct fit or permission problems.
Common problems and practical fixes
The tracker stops syncing
- Move the phone close to the tracker and open the companion app.
- Confirm Bluetooth is enabled and that the app can run in the background.
- Check that the phone still meets the stated operating-system requirement for Air.
- Charge the tracker if its battery is low, then retry synchronization.
Live heart rate does not appear on workout equipment
This issue is specific to the receiving device as often as to the strap. Verify that the treadmill, watch, cycling computer, fitness equipment, or app supports an external heart-rate sensor and that Helio is selected as the source. Pairing the strap to the phone does not automatically make every nearby device display its signal.
Sleep data has gaps
- Check that the device stayed in firm contact with the skin throughout the night.
- Try a different strap position that remains comfortable while sleeping.
- Charge before bedtime or immediately after waking so the tracker does not power down mid-sleep.
- Open the companion app after waking and allow time for synchronization.
You are asked to pay for Fitbit features
Core Fitbit Air features do not require Google Health Premium according to Tom’s Guide’s 2026 report. Premium is an optional upgrade for coaching and deeper insights. Review which feature is behind the paywall before subscribing; do not assume every health or sleep record requires payment.
Which tracker is better for specific users?
For runners, cyclists, and gym users who need live heart rate
Helio Strap is the stronger fit when your workout display is a watch, bike computer, treadmill, or other compatible equipment and you want the strap to provide the live heart-rate signal. Confirm compatibility with your exact equipment first.
For sleep-first users who dislike wearable weight
Fitbit Air has the lighter published banded figure, approximately 12 g, compared with Helio’s 20 g. Choose Air when minimizing the sensation of a device overnight outweighs Helio’s longer advertised battery life.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
For Amazfit and Zepp households
Helio Strap keeps training and recovery information in the Zepp environment and can complement other Amazfit integrations. Avoid adding a second ecosystem if your existing routines already depend on Zepp.
For Google and Pixel Watch households
Fitbit Air fits more naturally when Google Health is where you want to review health information and Pixel Watch integration is important. Its phone-mediated presentation is a benefit if you prefer a central Google record, but a limitation if you want a standalone workout sensor.
For travelers and people who forget chargers
Helio’s advertised ceiling of up to 10 days gives it the battery advantage on paper. Air’s approximately one-week figure can still be sufficient, but schedule charging before trips and check the actual runtime you experience rather than planning around a best-case claim.
Recommended Free Tools
For buyers trying to avoid recurring fees
Either tracker can be used without a mandatory subscription. Helio has no required subscription, while Air’s Premium tier is optional. Choose based on hardware, software, and the specific coaching features you want, not on the assumption that one device locks basic data behind a monthly payment.
Accuracy: what this comparison can and cannot tell you
No controlled, head-to-head accuracy study for Helio Strap versus Fitbit Air is established in the available sources. It is therefore not defensible to call either device medically superior or objectively more accurate. The meaningful documented differences are sensor use, placement options, battery claims, weight, software ecosystem, compatibility, and subscription exposure.
For health decisions, treat both as consumer wellness trackers rather than diagnostic instruments. If a reading conflicts with symptoms or medical advice, use an appropriate clinical measurement and speak with a qualified professional.
Buying checklist
- Confirm the $99.99 US starting price and current regional availability at checkout.
- Choose Helio Strap if you need upper-arm wear or live heart-rate broadcasting.
- Choose Fitbit Air if approximately 12 g banded weight and Google Health integration are more important.
- For Air, verify Android 11 or later, iOS 16.4 or later, and access to a Google Account.
- For Helio, verify that your intended receiving watch, treadmill, cycling computer, equipment, or app supports the broadcast connection.
- Measure your wrist against Helio’s 145–205 mm range; verify Air’s final band sizes on Fitbit’s official specification page.
- Remember that Helio’s 5 ATM rating is documented, while Air’s final water-resistance specification was not available in the cited Google Store details.
- Budget for Google Health Premium only if you specifically want its optional coaching and deeper insights.
Final recommendation
At the same US starting price, Helio Strap earns the recommendation for training flexibility: it lasts up to 10 days on the advertised claim, can be worn on the upper arm, and can broadcast live heart rate to compatible equipment without a required subscription. Fitbit Air is the better choice when comfort and ecosystem continuity come first: its reported banded weight is about 12 g, and it places data in Google Health for users who value Google Account and Pixel Watch integration. Neither is proven more accurate in a controlled comparison, so make the final decision from wear location, receiving-device compatibility, battery habits, and the software you already use.
