Akash Anand has asked Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati for another opportunity to serve the party under her leadership, while ruling out a move to another political party. His October 2 appeal is a request—not confirmation that the BSP has taken him back. Reports available by October 3, 2026, had not established that Mayawati accepted it.

What Akash Anand said

In a social-media post reported by The Indian Express on October 2, Anand appealed to Mayawati to let him work for the BSP again under her leadership. He addressed her as “Buaa Maa” and described her as his political guru and inspiration. The Indian Express translated his message as saying, “The BSP is not just a party for me; it is my family.”

Anand also rejected the prospect of joining another party. Hindustan Times quoted him saying, “I am not going to any other political party. Neither today nor ever.” These are statements attributed to Anand in the outlets’ accounts of his post, not confirmation of any subsequent party decision.

Why he apologized to Mayawati

Anand addressed his silence after Mayawati acted against his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth. He said he had withdrawn from social media and therefore could not repost Mayawati’s message about Siddharth. He said his silence had been misunderstood and apologized if it had hurt her. The Indian Express reported that he backed Mayawati’s decision against Siddharth.

This is Anand’s explanation of his conduct. It does not establish Mayawati’s view of the apology or settle whether she will restore him to the party.

Has Mayawati taken him back into the BSP?

There was no reported confirmation of readmission in the coverage available by October 3, 2026. Anand’s appeal should therefore be understood as a request, not an accepted return. Hindustan Times reported on September 23 that Mayawati had appointed his younger brother, Ishan Anand, as a BSP national coordinator, while Akash’s own position remained uncertain.

What happened before the appeal

News reports describe the party action and its timing differently, so the removal of responsibilities and the reported expulsion should not be treated as a single event with an uncontested date.

  • September 3, 2026: The Indian Express described Mayawati as removing Anand from party posts or responsibilities before his later expulsion. Hindustan Times also reported that his organizational responsibilities were removed on this date.
  • September 10, 2026: Hindustan Times reported that Mayawati expelled or completely freed Anand from the party on this date. The Indian Express’s October 2 account instead described him as completely expelled a month earlier, while identifying September 3 as the removal date.
  • September 23, 2026: Hindustan Times reported that Mayawati appointed Anand’s younger brother, 27-year-old law graduate Ishan Anand, as national coordinator at an all-India committee meeting in Lucknow.
  • October 2, 2026: Akash Anand made his appeal and said he would not join another party.

The outlets also describe an earlier removal and reinstatement in 2025, followed by an apology and the assignment of organizational responsibilities. That earlier episode provides context for the latest appeal, but does not determine its outcome.

Other parties had signaled interest, but Anand ruled out a move

The Indian Express reported that Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad, and Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad were among political figures who indicated they would welcome Anand if he joined their parties. The reporting does not establish that these expressions became formal offers or that Anand negotiated a switch. His October 2 statement explicitly rejected joining another party.
