A successful Airtel DTH payment does not always mean the set-top box has refreshed. The account may still be suspended, the TV may be on the wrong input, or the receiver may be unable to receive the satellite signal. Save the recharge transaction ID, switch on both the television and set-top box, and work through the displayed error before paying again.
For a low-balance suspension, leave the powered-on set-top box running for at least 20 minutes after the recharge. If the service still does not return, the on-screen code and whether one or all channels fail will show whether you are dealing with activation, subscription, or signal trouble.
What a successful recharge confirms
Airtel says an online recharge generates a unique transaction ID and credits the account immediately. Keep that ID with the payment time and amount. It is evidence that the payment was processed; it is not proof that the receiver has already refreshed its viewing authorization or that the dish is receiving a signal.
Three separate conditions can therefore exist after one payment:

- Payment processed, receiver not refreshed: the account was suspended for low balance and the box needs to remain on while Airtel’s authorization reaches it.
- Account active, television not displaying the box: the set-top box is in standby, the television is on a different input, or a cable is loose.
- Account active, satellite signal unavailable: rain, cloud, an obstruction, dish alignment, or a cable fault is preventing reception.
Do not make a second recharge while the first transaction is unresolved. A second payment can make it harder to determine which transaction Airtel must investigate.
Run these checks before changing your pack
- Record the transaction ID. Keep the confirmation message or receipt open. Note the customer ID, payment time, and amount as well.
- Confirm mains power. Check that the set-top box has power and that its front-panel display is lit. Press the set-top-box power button on the remote if the receiver is in standby.
- Select the correct television input. Use the TV remote’s Input, Source, or AV control and choose the HDMI, AV, or other socket connected to the Airtel box. A blank screen on the wrong source is not a recharge failure.
- Reseat connections. Check the cable from the box to the television and the satellite cable entering the box. Remove and firmly reconnect each connector, then restart the receiver.
- Read the exact on-screen message. B001, Error Code 4, Error Code 6, a viewing-card message, and a completely blank screen require different fixes.
Match the symptom to the right remedy

Complete the post-recharge activation refresh
Error Code 6 means Airtel has suspended the account because the balance is below zero. A successful payment removes the balance problem, but the box still has to receive the updated authorization.
- Leave the television on and set it to the input used by the Airtel receiver.
- Turn on the set-top box rather than leaving it in standby.
- Keep it powered on continuously for at least 20 minutes after the recharge. Avoid switching it off during this period.
- After the waiting period, check whether normal channels return. If Airtel’s confirmation or recharge-information channel is available, use it to verify the account message.
Airtel’s published guides use different channel references for these checks. One FAQ directs customers to channel 998 for a confirmation code, while another troubleshooting instruction refers to the default channel 099 and recharge-information channel 121. Try 998 first when following the recharge FAQ; if that is not available on your box, check 099 or 121 as applicable to the receiver’s on-screen guide. The differing labels do not change the 20-minute powered-on requirement for a low-balance suspension.

If Error Code 6 remains after the full powered-on period, treat it as an account-refresh or activation case rather than repeatedly recharging. The transaction ID lets Airtel trace the payment and push or verify the authorization.
Fix B001 or “NO SIGNAL”
B001 is a reception message, not a pack-selection message. When every channel displays it, investigate the satellite path and cabling before changing your subscription.
Check weather first
Heavy rain and dense cloud can temporarily interrupt satellite reception. Wait for severe weather to pass, then check the channel again. A payment cannot restore a signal that the dish cannot currently receive.

Inspect the dish line of sight
Look from the dish toward the open sky for a new or moved obstruction. Airtel identifies obstructions in front of the dish as a possible cause. Remove only objects that are safe for you to reach; do not climb onto a roof or alter the dish mount just to clear a B001 message.

Check the satellite and television cables
Reseat the cable connectors at the set-top box and check the cable between the box and television. Look for a connector that is loose or visibly damaged. Once the connections are secure, restart the receiver and allow it to reacquire the signal.
Consider dish alignment
A dish that has shifted out of alignment can produce B001 even in clear weather. Do not turn the dish by guesswork: a small change can worsen reception and make a later service visit more difficult. If weather, a safe line-of-sight check, cable reseating, and a restart do not clear the message, report the suspected alignment issue to Airtel.

Resolve Error Code 4 without paying for the same service twice
Error Code 4 means the selected channel is not included in the current subscription. This is different from a failed recharge and different from B001. If other subscribed channels work while one channel shows Error 4, the receiver is receiving a signal and the immediate issue is pack entitlement.
- Confirm that the error appears only on the channel outside your current pack.
- Check the pack or channel requirement shown by Airtel.
- Add the required top-up or upgrade the subscription through Airtel.
- After the entitlement change, leave the box on the affected channel so the receiver can receive the updated authorization.
If every channel instead shows B001, changing the pack will not repair the satellite path. If Error Code 6 remains, resolve the suspended balance state and allow the post-recharge refresh period first.
Correct a viewing-card error
A viewing-card message points to the card’s seating rather than to the recharge itself. Airtel’s guide recommends a careful physical reseat:

- Switch attention to the receiver and remove the viewing card gently.
- Wipe the card with a dry cloth. Do not use liquid or scrape the chip.
- Reinsert it with the chip facing down and the arrow pointing toward the set-top box.
- Check the screen again. If the message remains, report the card error with your customer ID and transaction ID.
When the screen is blank but no error appears
A blank screen can occur before the receiver has displayed any Airtel diagnostic code. Work from the television outward:
- Verify that the television itself is powered on.
- Use the television remote to select the HDMI, AV, or other input physically connected to the set-top box.
- Confirm that the set-top box front-panel display is active; press its power button if it is in standby.
- Reseat the box-to-TV cable at both ends.
- Check the satellite cable entering the receiver, then restart the box.
Once a picture appears, use the displayed code to choose the account, subscription, or signal procedure. If the default channel or recharge-information channel cannot be displayed after these checks, Airtel’s troubleshooting guidance says to contact the call center.
Use channel behavior to separate account and signal faults

Escalate with evidence Airtel can use
Contact Airtel only after recording the message and completing the relevant basic checks. Airtel lists 121 when calling from an Airtel mobile and 9810012345 when calling from a non-Airtel number.

- Customer ID associated with the DTH connection
- Recharge transaction ID
- Date and time of payment
- Amount paid and payment method shown on the receipt
- Exact on-screen code or wording
- Whether all channels or only a particular channel is affected
- Whether channel 998, default channel 099, or recharge-information channel 121 appears on the receiver
- Whether the box was left powered on for the required refresh period
- Weather or visible line-of-sight conditions when B001 is displayed
Ask the agent to verify that the payment is attached to the correct customer ID and that the viewing authorization has refreshed. If telephone support directs you to an email or nodal-officer route, retain the same transaction evidence and copy the exact error message into the escalation.
Common mistakes that delay restoration
- Recharging repeatedly: a second payment does not fix a loose cable, B001, or an unrefreshed receiver. Wait for Airtel to verify the first transaction.
- Turning the box off during refresh: Error Code 6 requires the receiver to remain on for at least 20 minutes after recharge.
- Changing packs for B001: a subscription upgrade cannot correct rain fade, an obstructed dish, misalignment, or a cable fault.
- Assuming a blank screen is proof of no signal: the television may simply be on the wrong input or the receiver may be in standby.
- Forcing the viewing card: remove it gently, clean it only with a dry cloth, and follow the chip-down, arrow-toward-box orientation.
- Adjusting the dish without a clear diagnosis: moving the mount can create a larger alignment problem. Escalate when safe checks do not clear B001.
A practical decision sequence
- Payment record: find and preserve the transaction ID.
- Display path: confirm TV power, the correct input, box power, and cable seating.
- Diagnostic code: identify B001, Error 4, Error 6, a viewing-card message, or no code.
- Activation path: for Error 6, keep the box on for at least 20 minutes after recharge.
- Signal path: for B001, check weather, safe obstructions, dish alignment concerns, and cables.
- Subscription path: for Error 4 on a particular channel, review the pack or top-up requirement.
- Escalation path: if the payment is confirmed but service does not return, call Airtel with the customer ID, transaction ID, timing, and exact code.
This order prevents an account problem from being mistaken for a dish fault and prevents a reception problem from being mistaken for a failed recharge.
