Acer announced three gaming laptops with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors—also known by the Panther Lake codename—at CES on January 5, 2026. The Predator Helios Neo 16S AI is the premium OLED model; the Nitro V 16 AI and slimmer Nitro V 16S AI are the alternatives. Their announced specifications distinguish them by display, memory capacity, and chassis, but Acer has not published laptop prices in the cited CES coverage, and launch windows do not confirm current stock.
What are Acer’s new Panther Lake gaming laptops?
The three announced models pair Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series Laptop GPUs. Acer describes them as supporting Copilot+ PC experiences and its Acer Intelligence Space software. Its announcement says the NPU can deliver over 45 AI TOPS and names Live Captions and Image Creator as examples; these are Acer’s claims, not independent tests. Acer’s January 5, 2026 announcement is the source for the published specifications below.
| Model | Announced processor and graphics, up to | Display | Memory and storage, up to | Chassis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Predator Helios Neo 16S AI (PHN16S-I51) | Intel Core Ultra 9 386H; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU | 16-inch 16:10 WQXGA OLED, 2560 × 1600, 165 Hz; HDR support and 100% P3 color coverage | 64 GB DDR5-6400; 2 TB PCIe storage | 18.9 mm maximum thickness; 2.3 kg listed weight |
| Nitro V 16S AI (ANV16S-I51) | Intel Core Ultra 7 355; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU | 16-inch WUXGA, 1920 × 1200, 180 Hz; 100% sRGB and MUX switch | 32 GB DDR5; 2 TB storage | Under 17.9 mm thick; 2.3 kg |
| Nitro V 16 AI (ANV16-I51) | Intel Core Ultra Series 3; contemporaneous coverage lists up to Core Ultra 7 355 and RTX 5070 Laptop GPU | Contemporaneous coverage lists 16-inch 1920 × 1200, 180 Hz, with MUX switch | Contemporaneous coverage lists up to 32 GB DDR5 and 2 TB NVMe SSD | Not stated in the cited announcement and contemporaneous coverage |
For the standard Nitro V 16 AI, the detailed figures come from Tom’s Hardware’s January 5, 2026 report. Acer’s announcement search excerpt provides its availability window but not a complete configuration table for that model, so verify its regional product listing and exact SKU before relying on those figures.
How do the Predator and Nitro models differ?
Predator Helios Neo 16S AI: OLED and a higher memory ceiling
The Predator is the only announced model with an OLED panel. Its higher 2560 × 1600 resolution, 165 Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and 100% P3 coverage set it apart from the Nitro models’ 1920 × 1200 displays. Acer also lists a higher maximum memory configuration—64 GB versus 32 GB for the Nitro V 16S AI. These are manufacturer-published options, not evidence that every retail configuration combines all the maximum components.

Nitro V 16S AI: slimmer chassis, faster refresh rate
The 16S is the slim Nitro option: Acer lists it as under 17.9 mm thick, compared with the Predator’s maximum thickness of 18.9 mm. Both are listed at 2.3 kg. Its WUXGA panel runs at 180 Hz, 15 Hz higher than the Predator’s OLED panel, and Acer specifies 100% sRGB coverage and a MUX switch. Refresh rate alone does not establish which laptop will deliver better gaming performance.
Nitro V 16 AI: check the exact regional configuration
The non-S Nitro V 16 AI is another announced configuration rather than a specification-for-specification duplicate of the 16S. The available contemporaneous report gives the processor, GPU, display, memory, and storage figures shown above, but the cited materials do not establish its chassis dimensions. Confirm the exact I51 SKU and local product page before comparing it with the 16S or Predator.

The figures describe announced maximum configurations, not necessarily a single retail SKU. “Up to” a processor, GPU, memory amount, or storage capacity means the actual combination can differ by configuration and region. Before comparing listings, check the full model number, display, installed RAM, storage, and GPU power details shown on the specific product page.
