Short answer: choose the Nitro XV272U for a straightforward 27-inch 1440p setup, the XV272U RV when its lower price and 170Hz DisplayPort mode are available, the Acer Nitro XV272U KF for high-frame-rate competitive PC gaming, the XZ270U P for a curved screen and stronger native contrast, and the Acer Nitro XV275K when 4K detail, Mini LED backlighting and console-friendly HDMI 2.1 matter most. The correct choice depends on the resolution your GPU can drive, the frame rates you actually sustain, whether you need HDMI 2.1, and the exact regional suffix on the box.
Quick recommendations
- Best everyday 1440p baseline: Nitro XV272U. It balances an IPS panel, high image quality, adaptive sync and useful USB connectivity without targeting extreme refresh rates.
- Best 1440p value when available: Nitro XV272U RV. Its DisplayPort refresh ceiling is higher than its HDMI ceiling, so it suits a PC connected over DisplayPort.
- Best for competitive PC play: Acer Nitro XV272U KF. Its 300Hz mode, 1ms response specification, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, USB-C and KVM are aimed at users with a fast graphics card and a need for low-latency motion.
- Best curved, contrast-focused option: Nitro XZ270U P. The curved ZeroFrame design and high native contrast make it the more immersive choice for darker rooms, while its refresh capability covers both mainstream and faster gaming.
- Best 4K and console-oriented choice: Acer Nitro XV275K (the P3biipruzx variant in the cited comparison). Its 4K/160Hz specification and Mini LED backlight provide a more detailed HDR-oriented image, and HDMI 2.1 is a better fit for current consoles than the XV272U KV according to RTINGS’ 2025 comparison update.
Acer said in a September 3, 2025 announcement that it was expanding the Nitro range with “four new high-resolution, high refresh rate models suited for just about any type of gamer.” That breadth is useful, but it also means that a model name alone is not enough: ports, refresh limits and included cables can change with the regional part number.

Where a cell says that a value is not stated, do not infer it from a similarly named Nitro. Acer uses suffixes for regional and generation differences, and a specification page for one part number does not establish the ports or refresh limits of another.

1440p is the practical middle ground
2560×1440 renders about 3.7 million pixels per frame. That is substantially more detailed than 1080p while requiring much less GPU work than 4K. For a mainstream gaming PC, this is why the XV272U family is the safest starting point: it leaves headroom for high settings and adaptive-sync operation without making a very expensive graphics card mandatory.

At 1440p, refresh rate only helps when the computer can deliver matching frame rates. A title that runs between 90 and 140 frames per second benefits more from a stable 144Hz display with variable refresh than from a 300Hz panel that spends most of its time waiting for frames. Competitive games with low visual complexity are more likely to reach the higher rates.
4K prioritises detail over easy frame rates
3840×2160 produces about 8.3 million pixels per frame, more than twice the workload of 1440p. Fine text, detailed game worlds and large creative-work canvases look sharper, but the GPU must render and transmit far more data. The XV275K is therefore a deliberate 4K choice rather than a universal upgrade: it makes sense when image detail, HDR-style backlighting or console compatibility outweighs the cost of sustaining high frame rates.
When 300Hz is worthwhile
A 300Hz display refreshes every 3.33 milliseconds. The improvement over 144Hz is visible mainly as smoother motion and lower scan-out latency when the game is actually producing very high frame rates. It is most defensible for esports players who already have a fast GPU, a high-speed CPU and settings tuned for competitive frame rates. For story games, strategy titles or a PC that normally stays below 165 frames per second, spend the budget on resolution, contrast or a better graphics card instead.
Model-by-model guidance
Nitro XV272U: the sensible baseline
The XV272U is the least complicated recommendation for a 27-inch PC desk. Its IPS panel is suited to mixed use, where viewing angles, text clarity and consistent colour matter alongside games. FreeSync can reduce tearing when frame rates fluctuate, and HDR400 support gives compatible content a defined HDR mode without making the monitor a specialist mastering display.
The built-in USB hub is useful if the monitor sits between a desktop and peripherals, while the 100×100 VESA pattern gives you a known starting point for an arm or wall mount. Two HDMI 2.0 inputs are convenient for multiple sources, but they are not the same as HDMI 2.1: check the source resolution and refresh combination before expecting a console to use its highest mode.
Buy this model when you want a reliable 1440p/144Hz experience and do not need USB-C video, a KVM switch or a 300Hz esports mode. Confirm the suffix before ordering because other XV272U variants can have different ports.

Nitro XV272U RV: value with a DisplayPort condition
The XV272U RV is easy to misunderstand because its maximum refresh differs by input. Acer’s US Store listing specifies 170Hz over DisplayPort and 144Hz over HDMI, with an IPS panel, FreeSync Premium and HDR400. A desktop connected through DisplayPort can use the faster mode; a laptop or console connected through HDMI is limited to the HDMI figure in that listing.
Acer’s US Store showed a listed price of $299.99 and an out-of-stock status when accessed in 2026. That is a volatile retail snapshot, not a permanent price or a promise that every country will receive the same bundle. If you find an RV at another retailer, compare the complete part number, included cable and return policy rather than assuming that the listing describes every XV272U RV.
Acer Nitro XV272U KF: a competitive-PC specialist
The KF is for buyers who can exploit very high frame rates. Its IPS image and 1440p resolution keep the GPU workload manageable compared with 4K, while the 300Hz specification leaves room for games that run well above 200 frames per second. The 1ms response claim is a panel specification; real motion clarity still depends on the selected overdrive or VRB mode and the frame rate.
HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 give the KF more bandwidth flexibility than the baseline models. USB-C can simplify a laptop connection, and KVM lets one keyboard and mouse set serve two connected computers when the implementation and peripheral wiring are configured correctly. The 600cd/m² brightness figure and 90% DCI-P3 coverage are Acer’s published specifications, not a guarantee that every picture mode reaches both values simultaneously.
Choose the KF if competitive games are your priority and your system can regularly approach its refresh ceiling. If your games rarely exceed 165 frames per second, its extra cost and bandwidth features may be better spent on a 4K or Mini LED model.

The XZ270U P takes a different route from the IPS-focused XV272U models. Its curved ZeroFrame design is intended to wrap the image more naturally around the viewer, especially at a close desk distance. Acer lists 165Hz as the standard rate, with capability up to 240Hz, and a 1ms VRB mode.

The standout published figure is 4000:1 native contrast. Higher native contrast can make dark scenes look deeper in a dim room than a typical IPS screen, although the result also depends on room lighting, gamma settings and the specific panel. The cited specification does not identify the backlight type, so do not assume Mini LED local dimming or a particular HDR certification from the contrast number alone.
This is the right direction if you want a curved 1440p screen and value dark-scene depth more than the broadest professional colour claims. Check the exact suffix for adaptive-sync branding, HDR support, stand movement and mounting hardware before purchase.
Acer Nitro XV275K: 4K, Mini LED and console bandwidth
The XV275K P3biipruzx is the choice for a 4K-first setup. RTINGS records 3840×2160 at up to 160Hz and Mini LED backlighting. Mini LED can provide more controlled bright and dark zones than a conventional edge-lit design, which is useful for HDR games and films, but the visible result depends on the local-dimming implementation and content.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →RTINGS’ 2025 comparison update says HDMI 2.1 makes this model better suited to console gaming than the XV272U KV. That matters because current consoles are designed around HDMI features that 2.0 models may not provide at the same resolution and refresh combination. Check the console’s output mode, the monitor’s port label and the cable specification together; a monitor having an HDMI 2.1 socket does not change the console’s own limits.
For a PC, 4K/160Hz is demanding. A high-end GPU may use upscaling or reduced settings to approach the upper refresh range, while a console will typically target the modes it officially supports. Buy the XV275K for its detail and backlight performance, not simply because 160Hz is a larger number than 144Hz.
Ports, cables and console compatibility
HDMI 2.0 versus HDMI 2.1
HDMI version is a practical buying filter. The XV272U’s two HDMI 2.0 inputs are suitable for many PC and console configurations, but they have less bandwidth than HDMI 2.1. The KF and XV275K listings include HDMI 2.1, making them the safer candidates when you want to investigate high-refresh 4K or the widest current-console options. Verify the exact regional model because a similar name does not guarantee the same port.

DisplayPort for a gaming PC
DisplayPort is often the preferred desktop connection when the monitor’s highest refresh is specified over that input. The XV272U RV is the clearest example: its 170Hz mode is tied to DisplayPort, while HDMI is listed at 144Hz. Use a cable rated for the monitor’s DisplayPort generation, and avoid assuming that an older cable will carry every advertised mode.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteUSB-C and KVM
USB-C on the KF can reduce laptop cable clutter, but confirm whether your laptop’s USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and whether the monitor supplies the charging power you need. KVM is useful only when both computers are connected to the monitor’s video and USB upstream paths. A USB-C connector by itself does not prove that charging, video and KVM are all available at the same time.
Cable and accessory checklist
- For an HDMI 2.1 source, choose an Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable rather than a generic “high speed” lead.
- For a high-refresh PC connection, choose a DisplayPort 1.4 cable when the monitor and GPU specify DisplayPort 1.4.
- For an arm or wall mount, match the monitor’s stated VESA pattern; the baseline XV272U is 100×100, while other suffixes must be checked individually.
- Keep the supplied cable until the advertised refresh mode works; replacing it first can make troubleshooting harder.
Stand, mounting and desk planning
Mounting compatibility is not interchangeable across the Nitro range. Acer lists 100×100 VESA support for the XV272U, but the supplied material does not establish a universal pattern for every other model. Read the exact manual or product page for height, tilt, swivel, pivot and screw depth before buying an arm.
A curved 27-inch screen needs more front-to-back desk depth than a flat panel if you want the viewing distance to feel even. A 4K model may also encourage a closer viewing position to make text and fine detail worthwhile. Place the monitor centrally, leave airflow around the rear electronics and route the cable so a height-adjustable arm cannot pull the connector when raised.
How to configure a new Nitro monitor
- Identify the complete part number. Photograph the label on the carton or rear of the monitor. Record the suffix, region and listed input limits before discarding packaging.
- Connect the correct source. Use DisplayPort for a PC when the highest refresh is specified there; use an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable for an HDMI 2.1 console or GPU.
- Select the refresh rate in the operating system. In Windows, open Settings, System, Display, Advanced display, select the Nitro and choose the highest stable rate shown for the connected input.
- Enable variable refresh. Turn on FreeSync or the monitor’s adaptive-sync option in the on-screen display, then enable the corresponding option in the GPU control panel. Test with a game rather than assuming the label alone confirms operation.
- Set the game’s resolution deliberately. Use 2560×1440 for the XV272U family and XZ270U P; use 3840×2160 for the XV275K when your GPU and game settings can sustain it.
- Calibrate brightness for the room. Start at a comfortable level, then adjust HDR and SDR modes separately. A headline brightness figure is not a recommended everyday setting.
- Test every source. Switch between HDMI and DisplayPort, verify audio and USB functions, and check that sleep/wake returns to the intended input.
Common problems and fixes
The monitor is stuck at 60Hz
Check the cable, the selected input and the operating-system refresh menu first. Some adapters and docks expose only lower modes. On the XV272U RV, confirm that the PC is using DisplayPort if you expect 170Hz; HDMI is listed at 144Hz.
HDR looks grey or washed out
HDR requires an HDR-capable game or video, an enabled operating-system HDR switch and a monitor picture mode that accepts HDR. If SDR desktop content looks poor, compare the monitor’s SDR mode before leaving HDR enabled all day. HDR400 or a Mini LED backlight describes capability, not a guarantee that every scene will look brighter than SDR.

Variable refresh flickers
Update the GPU driver, disable conflicting frame-rate limiters, and test a narrower refresh range. Very low frame rates can expose limits in adaptive-sync behaviour. If flicker remains, compare a fixed-refresh mode to determine whether the issue follows VRR or the cable and input.
The console will not offer its expected mode
Inspect the console video-output screen, select the HDMI 2.1 port where the monitor provides one, and use the required Ultra High Speed cable. Then verify the exact Nitro suffix: an XV272U variant with HDMI 2.0 should not be expected to behave like the XV275K or KF.
USB peripherals do not follow the active computer
KVM needs both computers connected to the monitor’s USB upstream paths as well as their video inputs. Select the correct KVM source in the monitor menu, and connect peripherals to the monitor’s downstream ports rather than directly to one computer.
Price, stock and suffix checks
Retail information changes faster than core specifications. The XV272U RV’s $299.99 US listing and out-of-stock status were observed in 2026 and should be treated as a dated snapshot. Tom’s Hardware also reported an Amazon offer for an XV272U F3 variant while noting limitations in Acer-site availability; that demonstrates volatility, not a guaranteed current deal.
Before paying, compare the seller’s complete model code with Acer’s regional page, confirm the advertised input refresh limits, check which cables are included and read the return terms. A discount is not useful if the part number removes the HDMI 2.1 port, USB-C function or mounting support you actually need.
A simple decision framework
- Start with the source. For a console where HDMI 2.1 is important, shortlist the XV275K and KF, then verify the console’s supported modes. For a conventional PC, all five models remain candidates.
- Choose the resolution your GPU can sustain. Pick 1440p when you want consistently high frame rates with moderate hardware; pick 4K when detail and HDR-style backlighting are more important than effortless frame rate.
- Set a realistic refresh target. Select 300Hz only when your games and hardware can frequently approach it. Otherwise, 144Hz, 165Hz or 170Hz may deliver better value.
- Choose the image character. IPS suits general use and viewing-angle consistency; the XZ270U P’s curved design and published contrast figure suit darker-room immersion; Mini LED on the XV275K targets more controlled backlight behaviour.
- Confirm the suffix and accessories. Match HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.4 cables to the chosen input and verify the VESA pattern before ordering an arm.
The Bottom Line
For most PC buyers, start with the Nitro XV272U. Move to the XV272U RV for a discounted DisplayPort-based setup, the Acer Nitro XV272U KF for genuinely high-frame-rate competition, the XZ270U P for curved contrast-focused gaming, or the Acer Nitro XV275K when 4K, Mini LED and HDMI 2.1 are the priority. Always verify the full regional suffix, ports, refresh limits and live stock before checkout.
