Maker Left4alan reported an Intel Atom x5-Z8350-class processor, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, then adapted the handheld’s controls for PC games. It could run some older titles, but it was not a modern gaming PC.

The build combined small PC components with handheld controls and a compact display. The specifications below come from the maker’s preserved Reddit comments and a Hackster News report; they are reported project details, not independently verified test results.

How did the builder fit a PC into a Game Boy-style shell?
The enclosure was an aftermarket shell, not a Nintendo-made Game Boy. The builder added a spacer that made it substantially thicker so the case could accommodate the computer, battery, screen and controls. This was a custom fabrication, not a drop-in replacement of the original handheld’s electronics.

Hackster described extensive use of epoxy resin to patch the modified case. The builder likewise identified epoxy as the main structural adhesive and said hot glue was used around wiring and contacts. That construction helped hold a heavily altered shell together, but the available accounts do not document repairability or a parts-cost total.
Which games could it run?
The maker reported playing examples including Halo and Halo 2, Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Team Fortress, along with indie games. The builder also described emulation for Nintendo GameCube and earlier systems. These are the builder’s accounts, not published benchmark results, and they do not establish how well every game ran or at what settings.

Hackster characterized the machine as capable of many PC games from 2008 and earlier, while noting that newer AAA releases were generally beyond its capabilities. Steam could be installed for compatible indie games, but installing Steam does not make every title playable: performance depends on the game’s requirements and the PC’s integrated graphics.
As Hackster writer Cameron Coward put it, “The computer used for this project definitely isn’t comparable to a modern gaming PC and it isn’t capable of running many recent releases aside from 2D indie games.”

How long did the battery last?
Hackster reported five hours of gaming, while the builder separately listed a 10,000 mAh battery. Neither source describes an independent runtime test or the conditions behind the five-hour figure, so treat it as a reported estimate for this build—not a guaranteed battery life for similar handheld PCs.

This build shows that a small Windows computer can be packaged in a familiar handheld form, with a trackball and remapped buttons standing in for conventional PC controls. Its compromises are equally important: the case had to be thickened, the graphics were integrated rather than dedicated, and the display was only 3.5 inches. The published accounts provide no independently tested performance, laboratory battery result or verified total build cost.
