In a first-impression story published October 1, 2026, PC Gamer’s Tyler Wilde says that accidentally disabling key systems on his robot in RADIOSOL made for such a memorable tale that multiple colleagues bought the game after hearing it. That is Wilde’s anecdote, not independently verified sales data—and he stresses he had played only the opening stretch, not enough to review the game.
What is RADIOSOL?
RADIOSOL is a post-apocalyptic game about a spider-like robot exploring a devastated world. The developers describe it as “a journey through a desolate world burned by a planetary cataclysm,” as quoted in Wilde’s PC Gamer first-impression article.
Wilde reported that the game was available on Steam and cost $9 when his article appeared on October 1, 2026. That is a dated, publication-time price—not a guarantee of today’s price or the price in every region. Check the Steam listing for current availability and regional pricing.
What went wrong with the robot’s settings?
Following a tutorial prompt to the robot’s settings menu, Wilde found switches for “hearing,” “life support,” and “thinking.” He pressed the red “KILL” controls. The consequences, as he recounts them, were more than cosmetic: he lost the ability to hear, see, and move, and could no longer avoid burning in direct sunlight. Disabling thinking also garbled the in-game text.

After dying and returning to the menu, Wilde had to remember how to load an earlier save. Restoring that save made the text readable again. The episode’s appeal is its cause-and-effect absurdity: settings that sound like options became disabling actions with immediate consequences in a hostile environment.
What does the early gameplay look like?
In the portion he had played, Wilde moved a wall-climbing spider-robot through deserted megastructures and desert ruins. He described large jumps that suggested low gravity, while exposed ground posed a danger: the robot had to cross it by leaping between shadows to avoid direct sunlight.

He was heading toward a pyramid and looking for a “Megapol station” in territory identified as belonging to the “Locus Group of Companies.” Those proper nouns contribute to the setting’s mystery, but Wilde’s account does not establish their full significance. He also says he had encountered no combat in the section he played; that is an observation about his opening stretch, not a claim that the whole game lacks combat.
Did the story really persuade people to buy the game?
Wilde says he told the story in PC Gamer’s work chat and that multiple colleagues bought RADIOSOL. His article puts it this way: “I related this experience in PC Gamer’s work chat and multiple of us bought Radiosol”. He does not give an exact number, and the anecdote is not an audited sales figure or evidence of a broader trend. It does show how an unusual, easily retold gameplay mishap can spark interest among people who hear about it.

Is this a review?
No. Wilde explicitly frames his article as an early reaction rather than a verdict: “I’m not far into Radiosol yet, so I’m still working out what I think—this is just my first impression, not a review.” His description offers a glimpse of the game’s traversal, setting, and strange system controls, but it cannot establish how those ideas develop across the full game.

Wilde says he checked Steam’s generative-AI disclosure and found it described AI use for translations, but not generated audio or art. He also reports that developer TripletConcept said on X that it used AI for “some coding and utility stuff like handling Git merges.” These are statements reported by Wilde; they do not independently verify the developer’s workflow or the cited social post.
