Microsoft’s current instructions do not list a 1000% zoom option for Access. They list ribbon zoom choices up to 500% for supported views; the instructions do not establish that 500% is a hard ceiling for every slider increment. To change view zoom, use Home > Zoom, the status-bar slider, or the zoom shortcuts described below. The documented feature applies to Access for Microsoft 365 version 2605 and later.

How to change zoom in Access

These controls apply to forms, tables, and queries in Form View or Datasheet View, and to reports in Print Preview. They are not supported in Report View or Design View.

  1. Choose a listed level: In the supported view, select Home > Zoom, then choose 50%, 75%, 125%, 150%, 175%, 200%, or 500%. To return to normal magnification, choose Zoom 100% or press Ctrl+Alt+0 (zero).
  2. Adjust gradually: Use the zoom slider at the lower-right of the status bar. Select its minus or plus controls for gradual changes, or move the slider to the desired level.
  3. Use keyboard or mouse controls: Press Ctrl+Alt+Plus to zoom in or Ctrl+Alt+Minus to zoom out. To zoom with the mouse wheel, hold Ctrl while scrolling.

If these view-zoom controls are missing, check that Access is Microsoft 365 version 2605 or later and that the object is open in a supported view.

What the 1000% claim means

Microsoft’s published ribbon choices include 500% as the highest listed level; they do not include 1000%. That supports correcting the headline claim, but it does not prove that every slider increment has a hard maximum of 500%: Microsoft’s instructions do not state a slider ceiling.

Does Access remember a form’s zoom?

No. Microsoft says, “Access doesn’t save zoom settings on closing and reopening a form.” A form uses the database’s default zoom when reopened. To change that default, go to File > Options > Current Database > Application Options > Default Zoom.

What Access zoom does—and does not—resize

View zoom scales native Access controls. Content inside ActiveX controls, such as text in a TreeView control, does not resize along with the rest of the form. Microsoft suggests considering native Access controls when consistent scaling is needed.

Access’s separate Zoom command for editing text

The Zoom command can also open a larger text-entry window for editing text or expressions in a cramped field, such as a property box or query-design grid. Place the insertion point in the field, right-click and select Zoom, or press Shift+F2. This enlarges the editing window; it does not magnify the form or datasheet. Resizing this Zoom box is identified as a Microsoft 365 subscriber feature.
