What is the Logitech Signature M650?
The M650 is a wireless productivity mouse from Logitech. It connects either over Bluetooth Low Energy or with the included Logi Bolt USB receiver. Logitech lists compatibility with Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, Linux, Android, and iPadOS; exact minimum versions and software compatibility vary by platform and connection method.
Its documented layout includes left- and right-click buttons, back and forward side buttons, and a middle-click function on the scroll wheel. A separate connectivity button is also listed. Logitech’s Logi Options+ software can customize the side buttons, including assigning different actions for particular apps.
Which M650 version should you choose?
Logitech recommends the standard M650 for small-to-medium hands and the M650 L for large hands. The M650 L Left is the left-handed version: its side buttons are on the mouse’s right side, where a left-handed user can reach them with the left thumb. These are Logitech’s fit recommendations, not the result of an independent fit test.

The L models are both larger and heavier than the standard model. Choose by hand fit and handedness rather than assuming the larger version adds a different feature set; Logitech’s published specifications identify the size and button-placement distinctions.
How SmartWheel scrolling is meant to work
Logitech describes SmartWheel as offering two scrolling styles. Ratchet scrolling moves line by line for more controlled navigation, while inertia scrolling is intended to move faster through long documents and web pages. The setup guide says the wheel changes modes when you flick it.

That describes the intended behavior, not independently verified performance. There is no method-described hands-on result here confirming how reliably the wheel changes modes or how it feels in everyday use.
Are the clicks silent?
The M650 uses Logitech’s SilentTouch technology. In its January 11, 2022 launch announcement, Logitech said the technology reduces click noise by 90% compared with the Logitech M185. That is a manufacturer-stated comparison, not an independent noise measurement, and it does not establish that clicks are inaudible.

Battery life, replacement, and what is in the box
The mouse uses one replaceable AA battery. Logitech Support lists estimated battery life of up to 24 months with Logi Bolt and up to 20 months with Bluetooth. These are manufacturer estimates, not results from a stated workload or an independent test. Logitech’s getting-started guide explains battery replacement.
Logitech Support lists the box contents as the mouse, one AA battery installed in the mouse, the Logi Bolt receiver stored inside it, and documentation. You do not need to buy a receiver separately to use the Bolt connection.

How to connect the M650
Pair over Bluetooth
- Remove the battery pull tab to power the mouse.
- Put the mouse into Bluetooth pairing mode and select it in your computer or device’s Bluetooth settings. Follow Logitech’s getting-started guide for the pairing controls and device-specific steps.
Connect with Logi Bolt
- Open the battery cover and remove the Logi Bolt receiver stored inside.
- Plug the receiver into a USB port.
- Remove the battery pull tab and follow Logitech’s setup guide if you need to complete pairing.
Logitech states a wireless range of up to 10 m (33 ft). The documentation supports Bluetooth and Bolt connections, but does not establish a multi-device switching feature; do not assume the M650 can switch among paired devices with a dedicated control.

Logitech’s specification page lists Windows 10/11, macOS, Chrome OS, Linux, Android 5.0 or later, and iPadOS 13.4 or later as supported operating systems. It lists Logi Options+ software support for Windows 10 or later and macOS 10.15 or later. Software support is distinct from basic mouse compatibility, and the precise requirements can change; check Logitech’s current specification page for your device and connection method.

Specifications and claims in context
- Sensor resolution: 400–4,000 DPI, adjustable through software, according to Logitech Support.
- Wireless range: Up to 10 m (33 ft), according to Logitech.
- Click and button endurance: Logitech Support lists 5 million left/right clicks, 1 million middle clicks, and 500,000 back/forward button presses. These are manufacturer durability specifications, not independently reproduced endurance-test results.
- Recycled plastic: Logitech’s January 2022 launch announcement stated that post-consumer recycled plastic made up 64% of parts for Graphite and 26% for Off-White and Rose. Those dated figures should not be generalized to every color, region, or current production run.
What this review can—and cannot—establish
Logitech’s product, support, and setup materials establish the M650’s variants, listed specifications, connection options, software customization, and intended SmartWheel behavior. They do not establish independently measured tracking performance on glass or other surfaces, actual click-noise levels, sustained comfort, connection reliability or latency, wheel behavior in use, or battery life under a defined workload. The figures above are therefore attributed to Logitech rather than presented as test findings.
Verdict: who should consider the Logitech Signature M650?
The M650 is a plausible fit for someone seeking a wireless mouse with both Bluetooth and an included Bolt receiver, side buttons, configurable controls, a replaceable AA battery, and size and handedness variants. Its core choice is straightforward: standard M650 for Logitech’s small-to-medium-hand guidance, M650 L for larger hands, or M650 L Left for left-handed use. SmartWheel and SilentTouch are documented features, but their everyday feel and effectiveness are not independently established here; treat the battery and noise figures as Logitech claims, not guaranteed outcomes.
